Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We dined there in a warm vaulted setting. The server is pleasant and very attentive. We ate an excellent homemade hamburger and a good mountain specialty "donkey ears"! We enjoyed ourselves until dessert: a good slice of blueberry pie!
Flawless, and this is not the first time! I highly recommend!

Good food, gorgeous location (especially outside), absolutely great staff! Had some cocktails and drinks for our 2yr and 4yr old who could run around at the beautiful little square. Delicious salad and salmon burger inside.

Very cosy bar set in the old town close to the church. We were treated with friendly and helpful service.
The interior of the bar is ancient with traditional ceilings and a pot belly stove.
The local beer was strong but great quality.
Relaxing atmosphere with ambient music, perfect after a long day on the piste.

We enjoyed a very good lunch with a nice bottle of biological white wine. The goat cheese salad was splendid together with a very nice entrecote and hand made french fries. Within the old town of Brandon this is a very good restaurant given that this town is very touristic.

We had a slightly mixed night at Spirit. On the plus side, it's a lovely little place with a nice atmosphere and the food was excellent. On the down side, on a busy night they were struggling a bit with service and lost our food order.
I went to Spirit after cycling the Etape du Tour with a couple of friends, who had booked through their accommodation. They arrived earlier than me and had a platter of meat and cheese on the table when I got there, plus wine. We'd demolished most of the platter by the time I managed to grab him to ask for wine for me and menus; both took some time to come. Then we waited some more for the orders to be taken. We were outside and it was windy and cold and eventually managed to move inside, by which time I'd finished my wine and there was no sign of any food. The waiter then came over, apologised that the kitchen had lost our order, and took it again. It was another 30 minutes before the food finally came, by which point we'd all crashed. The food was good - I had an excellent burger which came with potato wedges rather than frites and my friend had the local "saucisse avec choux", which turned out to be a sausage and some potatoes and grilled veggies and a bit of red cabbage.
When we asked for the bill it came as the full bill with everything we'd ordered. I asked (in French) if it was possible to take something off as we'd waited so very long - missing the Bastille Day fireworks as a result - the answer was no. We could have had a free shot of local liqueur which we didn't want, but because the bill had been put in the computer they couldn't take anything off it, and also everyone else had also waited a long time for their meal. We paid it but I do think some sort of consideration of the wait and the lost order should have been taken into account - there were definitely people in the restaurant who'd got there after us and left before us. It came to €81.90 for the shared platter, three mains, five glasses of wine and a lemonade so it wasn't the cheapest ever but it was tasty. Just expect a leisurely evening, and take a jumper if you're sitting outside!

I rented the Spirit for a private night with family and friends to eat, have some drinks and dance.
The chef Remy and his staff were very comprehensive and attentive to all our requests and needs.
The chef prepared some very good snacks for all of us, with products from local markets.
The atmosphere in the old town is great as well.
Highly recommended.

The Spirit Bar is another lovely example of French charm in the town of Briancon. It looks like a cellar with arched ceilings and simple seating. Perfect for a place to drink with friends after a day on the slopes nearby.

A group of 7 families (13 adults and 13 children) staying next door at Residence du Temple for a week, we enjoyed half-board at Spirit de Briancon. We received exceptional service by Richard and his staff. Chef Philippe went out of his way to accommodate his clientele. Charlotte and Sylvie waited on us morning and evening, always with a smile. Would thoroughly recommend.

We stayed in an apartment above the Spirit Bar for three nights but never went in the bar until the last night (too many places to choose from) but what a mistake!
Richard, the owner is a fantastic guy who loves to share a glass of wine and chat over the bar. I had a couple of glasses of wine and then noticed out of the corner of my eye, a Guiness sign on a beer pump!! Do you have draught Guinness I asked Richard? of course he answered and I also have draught Magners Cider!! Blimey thinks I, this could develop into a good night and it certainly did. Richard, you really need to advertise these beers a little more openly!
We had a great night chatting, drinking wine, Guinness and eating cheese and saussison at the bar. Thanks Richard, we hope to see you again very soon.

We ate here twice on a recent weekend break. Blackboard menu, all cooked fresh to order. All our choices were excellent - beautifully prepared and presented. Service was excellent also. Strongly recommend!

Characteristic room inside with white vaults even if they seem dug into the rock. You eat excellent cheese and an assorted platter of ham and cheese

Very disappointing. Cheese salad where we look for croutons and cheese. Poor quality and expensive products. To avoid.
