Surrounded by ancient medieval castle walls – we dined in a vast courtyard. Tables had large umbrellas over them and string-lights crisscrossed the courtyard creating a nice overall atmosphere. Although the food was good and imaginative, our waiter clearly didn’t care about serving any of...us. Even though the place wasn’t crowded, it was a Sunday night, we had to constantly get his attention to receive any kind of service which was then offered begrudgingly. In many instances, he was just standing around, not doing much. It dragged on for so long that some of us skipped the after-desert that was part of the menu items we had already paid for. This was part of a gourmet tour. And yes, this is Europe, and our table was outdoors, so we had to deal with the smoke of the many nearby smokers all during dinner, not very appetizing. As you can see, quite an interesting dinner: • Cantaloupe melon shooters with prosciutto salt • Black pasta pillows filled with roasted pepper and tomato sauce • Grandma’s baby tomatoes with ricotta, baked in the oven (tomatoes in olive oil in a bath of super light fresh ricotta) • Ravioli filled with lavender cheese, sprinkled with parmesan dipped in butter sauce. • Sea bass with parsnip & zucchini sauce mixed with smoked pasteurized egg yolks sauce. Served with scalloped potatoes. • Blueberries with gin yogurt sorbet and fresh lemon. Bitter/delicious. You would think the restaurant would like repeat customers or at least good reviews (there were 9 of us) by treating them well, unfortunately, as good as the food was, the treatment received left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I can’t support such an establishment.More
