An extremely popular dining venue that serves enormous meals for very fair prices. If intending to dine there in the evening, a table reservation would be highly recommended. However, if you miss out, they do also offer takeaways. Wonderful and very friendly service make for...a very pleasant dining experience.More

Every time we go to Moeraki, we always stop at the Moeraki Tavern for their incredible fish and chips. Fresh blue cod cooked to perfection with a nice crunchy batter, decent amount of chips and a lovely side salad. We are yet to find better...across the country. Beautiful setting looking over the water. One of our favourites.More

Went here for a drink on a beaut north Otago arvo. What a nice guy, very friendly and knowledgeable about this area. Very reasonable drinks, good selection and the most AMAZING VIEWS over the bay. Covered outdoor area. Yummo looking food. (Blue cod king of...all fish). Wer cheesed we weren't here for dinner on next time 😋More

We went with friends two of whom were vegan. Absolutely nothing suitable on the menu. The world is changing and many people are now vegan. I know that small places like this may not have many requests for this option but ask restaurant owners in...other parts of the world and they will tell you that due to demand changing they have had to change their menus to accomodate this new way of eating. The only option of a green salad just doesn't do it. The fish one of our group had was great but the pizza was dreadful. Most places now in NZ have great food and good vegan, vegetarian and gluten free food but not here. Disappointing!More

This was exactly what I needed in Christmas eve. The food portions were absolutely huge and was the perfect comfort food for what was horrendous weather! Staff were super friendly and very attentive and the atmosphere in the pub was super relaxed (music not too...loud and plenty of seating). Would definitely come back again and get that Brownie and ice cream! (it was to die for!)More

Local pub with a great atmosphere, very good beer and good food. We enjoyed a couple of hours watching the AB’s v Australia rugby game on T.V. We had a light snack only because we already had plans for dinner but next visit we will...dine here because the meals looked very good.More

We came to Moeraki for a fishing trip and called in to the Tavern for dinner. We have attended multiple times before and always enjoy our meals. We ordered x2 steaks and x1 Chowder. The chowder was delicious and could not be faulted. Unfortunately one...of the steaks was well under cooked and full of sinews, could not be cut or chewed. We waited on the staff to come over and when feedback was passed they became defensive and argumentative regarding the quality of the meat. They advised their supplier informed them the meat comes this way. After a very awkward encounter with two staff we all accepted the steak was just a bad bit - we were given a half price meal and a jug of beer. In the end the staff managed this well but an argument about meat quality probably wasn’t necessary and left us embarrassed.More
