What a fantastic restaurant; service and food excellent. Varied menu and reasonable costs. Need to reserve a table. Located in a idyllic little village accessed by narrow roads

We very much enjoyed our lunchtime visit yesterday. The menu is very varied and should suit all tastes. We went for fish, a skate wing for me and a whole plaice for the other half. Both dishes were excellent and also a special mention for...the seasonal veg and new potatoes which were a treat in themselves. The restaurant as you would expect was very busy but the family who run it were very efficient and friendly and the service was excellent. "Dad" behind the bar was a very genial host. We intend to return in the autumn when the cosy feel of the place will be even more welcoming.More

First visit and not the last. A fabulous atmospheric traditional pub with beautifully cooked food and lovely service. Found this by chance and so glad we did. The roast lunch is the best we have had in a long time. Perfectly al dente veg, melt...in the mouth roast lamb and beef. All served in a relaxed atmosphere. Do not miss this place but book ahead as it is very popular.More

Excellent food. Love the Old English. Fillet steak port and Stilton. Wonderful. Lots of seasonal veg and I chose chips. Lovely. Got my birthday lunch booked for October.

My wife and I had an appointment nearby which overran and we were hungry so decided to try The Linny for lunch. We arrived at 1.55pm and asked if they were still serving meals. The jovial host informed us that they served until 2.00pm. They...had just informed the kitchen that no more meals were required but if we were quick they could accommodate us. We picked meals that were easy to prepare. The pub was very busy and as there was a break in the cloudy weather and it was warm we decided to socially distance and sit outside. The meals arrived promptly but unfortunately my wife's fish was only half cooked and tasteless and she was only able to eat half. My roast beef was very good. When our plates were collected we were asked if we had enjoyed our meal. We said that it was disappointing that the fish was undercooked. We then went in to pay and commented that although we did not like to complain we felt that the fish had not been cooked properly. We were then verbally informed the value of our bill. My wife asked if any adjustment had been made for her meal. It was only then that our host said that no charge had been made for it. He was obviously not happy that we were not satisfied even though we had not made a big fuss and we had said that it would not stop us coming back in the future. He then inferred that if we had sat inside they could have done something about it and made some comment about us choosing to sit outside on a rainy day. Rain had been forecast but there was no rain that day and we had to reposition a parasol to shield us from the sun. He also inferred that we were somewhat responsible owing to our late arrival and that they had prepared 80 meals that day We can accept that the kitchen were probably frustrated to receive a further order after they had been told to stand down so a lack of care in cooking extra meals was not surprising and in some ways understandable. The pub has a very good reputation and occasions like this are probably rare but it is a shame that there was no gracious apology and we left feeling culpable for the chef's shortcomings.More

We booked dinner here before we travelled to Devon after looking at reviews. We weren't disappointed at all. The staff were very friendly and efficient, the meals we had were also very nice. If we visit the area in the future we will certainly come...back for another meal. Thank you to all concerned.More

As local folk the Linny is always within the top 3 choices for a pub meal. It never fails to deliver. It meets the right criteria of an excellent; on the “top of his game” host and consistently good food at affordable prices.
