Kajjal was opened by Sean Collender and Shoaib Yunus in October 2007 and has been warmly welcomed by the people of Malahide. Kajjal's aim is to provide a friendly and relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy a consistently good standard of food and service. Kajjal is open 5 days a week from 12 till 11pm and offers great value lunch, every Sunday live music is on from 2pm to 4pm. Sister restaurants Kinara in Clontarf and Kinara Kitchen in Ranelagh.

The Wife & I were attending a music concert at Malahide Castle on the Wednesday evening and we'd reserved a late lunch at Kajjal for 3.30pm. While the restaurant was busy, we were shown to a very comfortable booth. The complementary poppadoms were freshly cooked. No visit to a genuine Pakistani restaurant is complete without tandoori lamb chops... and Kajjal's were truly excellent. The other standout dish was the Machali Achari - a pickley, yet well-balanced, Hake-based main... delicious. I wish we lived closer to Malahide.

Staying in Malahide for work and came across this gem. I cant say enough good things about the meal. I had scallops to start, my brother chose the monkfish. Gotta say the scallops were bigger than any I had had before and tasted wonderful. My Brothers monkfish was equally good. I always try the local Indian when working away and although not the cheapest (everywhere in Malahide is more expensive than elsewhere) it was certainly worth it. Service, food and environment all outstanding. Cant wait to go back

Dinner at Kajjal is always an occasion and is made so from the beginning on arrival. Mansoor and his team will make sure your experience is a pleasant one. The Onion Bhaji or Tandoori Lobster Tail would be my go to starters. I prefer for main course the Lamb Gosht or Rogan for mail and my partner prefers the Makhani Murghi or Murgh Tikka Masala as main course. The Plain and Coriander Naan and Pilau Rice complete the meal. Dessert can be a shared Creme Brulee if we have any space left after that. Preferred wine is the Spanish Albarino. Excellent fare for a wonderful evening. Don't forget the Cocktail selection, Cosmopolitan is particularly good!

Arrived for dinner at 8.25pm for 8.30pm booking on Sat 19th,party of 5, and we were told table would not be ready for 15 mins. We were then asked if we would wait outside the restaurant until table was ready. That was a first for us. When our food order was finally taken the food did not arrive for over 1 hour, we had to ask where it was. Total cost was €328. They had also added a 10% "discretionary" service charge. When I asked for it to be removed because of the deplorable service they initially refused to, I pointed out it said discretionary charge and said we weren't paying it. They finally removed it from bill and asked if we would like a round of drinks on the house, we asked for 1 cocktail only, nothing else, and they said we could not have a cocktail. So any chance of redemption was lost at that stage. Worst service we have ever experienced in a restaurant of that price range. On a plus note, food was very nice when it finally arrived over an hour after ordering. Won't be returning to Kajjall in Malahide.

I booked kajal for a late lunch/dinner with 4 of my friends. From the moment we arrived we were rushed for our drinks and food order. At one point the waiter nudged my arm to make my mind up on my decision. The space between starter and dinner was literally 5 minutes.
The portions were lunch size for dinner prices. €17 for starter €27 for main course (lunch size)
The waiting staff were at our table every second clearing stuff away constantly.
The bill was €324.50 with 1 bottle of wine and 2 drinks. And a 10%. ‘discretionary‘ service charge.
When leaving I went to the manager and said about the rushed service - he did not say one word but ushered me out of his way!
The most rushed meal, with less than impressive food and awful service .
Do not go to this awful restaurant!!

Consistency is rare in restaurant experiences. Our visit on a busy Sunday could have been a disaster having made a reservation error. The manager dealt with us extremely well and without fuss fitted us in. The service and food was excellent and my mum’s dietary issues were dealt with efficiently with staff listening and acting on requirements during a busy service. The quality of ingredients and flavours makes for a really enjoyable experience and a welcome post Xmas spice hit.

The lunch wraps here are out of this world. I remember the first time I had one and still to this day it’s as amazing. My kids adored the chicken vegetable rice and they are very very picky eaters. The staff are always so friendly and lovely and the food is always 10/10. If you want amazing service, food, drinks and a stunning setting- come to Kajjal.

Myself and the wife have visited kajjal on a number occasions each time we visit this establishment we live feeling full and satisfied. The staff are friendly and inviting and the food is unbelievable. My wife ordered a prawns for starters I hate seafood after much convincing from my wife I tried the prawns she had to wrestle them from me because they were so delish.
We have recommended this place to serval friends and always received positive reviews.

Drove over 60 miles to dine in this place. I had been before on three occasions but worryingly, I couldn’t remember a single thing I or my wife had eaten. That’s always a bad sign with a restaurant.
Anyway, to cut a long story shory, the food wasn’t good. My dish had heat from the spice but no flavour. The wifes dish was just ok. I ordered chicken tikka rice as my rice choice and it was sooo salty, lots of chicken in it, but nothing in it tasted of chicken tikka. Not a hint of it. It was a waste of money.
€90 spent on not even average food. Bland, not worth the money food.
And the restaurant is sooooooo loud! Unless you are shouting at each other, you can’t hear your own conversation. Maybe it’s the victim of it’s own success but tonight, it was ridiculously loud and the food was no good. I couldn’t wait to leave.
A big shame but now I know why it was never memorable before. We won’t return.

Staying in Malahide for the weekend and this restaurant was highly recommended. Not one to be negative but at the same time have to be honest. My wife thought is was great whereas I thought just average.
I thought the service was rushed and it was almost a case of get you served and out to free a table for another walk-in.
Food again I thought for such a highly recommended place was just average, although again my wife thought it was great, so jury out at present.
Try it for yourself and see if my comments are justified or if my wife had a better appreciation of it than I did

This was one of our best meals in Ireland during our two week trip. The reason was a perfect combination of warm and welcoming service, knowledgeable and attentive wait staff, flavorful and delicious food, and great bartending by Paul. The menu is extensive, and even if you don’t love a ton of spice (like me), you can find lots of dishes to will enjoy. The atmosphere is relaxed, the acoustics excellent. I’d highly recommend this restaurant.

We enjoyed the most delicious lunch at this restaurant. From start to finish, our experience was perfect. The staff were warm and welcoming and then professional and attentive, but not overly so. The food was superb! Delicious, fresh and plentiful. There was only one other table occupied and so the atmosphere could not be described as ‘buzzing’ but we were grateful for the calm ambience, conducive to a relaxing, scrumptious lunch. The bill was very reasonable indeed. This is a fabulous Pakistani fusion restaurant and we would highly recommend it!

Excellent authentic Indian food. Early bird up until 7pm on Wed and Thurs which is great value & even includes rice and Naan bread.

We are a group of friends who regularly visit, at least once a week, always great food but they need to take care of their regular guest who keep them going. Depending on which manager on duty they give some guests a drink on the house and others not...most other local restaurants always offer regular guests a free drink. Not fair when you see some guest getting offered and others not,does not seem loyalty is being recognised

Loved every second of it. The place was spotless. The staff were very helpful and gave recommendations on what dishes I should choose. The service was really quick and food was delicious. The decor was lovely. Would definitely recommend it to others and will hopefully return again soon.
