The Best restaurant in Grenada

I have to say after 3 trips to Grenada, so far Sand Bar is the best of the best. Food is amazing, cocktails and desserts. The location is also amazing especially for sunset. What is even more amazing is the cost to feed 6 people, drinks and desserts, is half the price of La Luna and 1/3 of the price of The Aquarium. I really don't have anything negative to say about Sand Bar.

Flew in to the Sand Bar and Grill

We arrived five minutes before the kitchen closed after a long day of traveling to Grenada. All of the tables were full, but the staff recognized how tired and hungry we all were. They very kindly offered us (group of 8) a table under the gazebo and allowed us to place our food and drink orders. We were extremely grateful. We were looking forward to a chicken roti and they did not disappoint! The Carib was cold and the ambience was chill. It was a perfect welcome to the beautiful island of Grenada.

Sand Bar and Grill is a real gem of a place for a cocktail or a meal.

The Sand Bar encapsulates everything we love about Grenada and elevates it to being an unforgettable memory and an experience to treasure. Two weeks of sampling the food, the cocktails and being looked after by the professional staff is something to write up in the holiday annual. The Sand Bar is a real gem of a place and I would recommend anyone to experience a cocktail or a meal, because you will never forget it and you will come back for more and more, like us. Thank you. We will be back.

Based on reviews, we had anticipated a great dinner at Sand Bar at Lance aux Epines Beach, especially with an advance reservation at 5:30 requesting a view of the sunset. Unfortunately, we were seated at the worst table facing a cement wall and shower/bathroom, instead of the beach, despite having specifically booked for the view. That set the tone for an underwhelming experience. We politely asked to change tables and were denied, despite the desirable table lying empty for the next hour. (See photo of empty table taken at 6:30 pm.) Happy hour drinks were a highlight, with $3 off making them a decent deal. Awesome piña colada! The food, however, was hit-or-miss. The dhalpuri was tough and lacked the tenderness you’d expect for a chicken roti. The mahi mahi was dry but still had good flavour, served with standard fries and a tiny side of tossed salad. The real standout was the chocolate cake -- moist, rich, and easily the best part of the meal. Our bill was $194.70 EC including the auto gratuity (10% service charge) which was a bit of an insult to injury after being treated like second class citizens. Service was slow and inattentive, which could have been due to it being our first visit… or something else. It left us wondering whether we were just overlooked or if there was an underlying reason, which made the whole experience feel a bit off. Also, pricing on the two menus were inconsistent, with one wine list reading $16 and the other $15. Overall, Sand Bar has potential, but our visit fell flat. If you go, make sure to double-check your table location in advance and set expectations accordingly.

Beautiful location but terrible food

I ate at Sand Bar on last Sunday, September 3. I told the waitress I am allergic to onion and garlic and asked her to check with the Chef if the hamburger was safe to eat. She came back to the table saying there is neither in the burger. So I ordered it and ate a few bites. The burger was full of diced onion mixed with the meat. I was sick all night and the next day. Ruined my vacation. Please train your staff to be knowledgeable about allergies and take them seriously. Someone can die from eating something to which they are allergic. And if the kitchen team is not aware of what is in the food then they should please have a list of ingredients for each item to refer to. Your place if beautiful but not recommended to go there if you have any food allergies.

Very good food in a great location, right on the beach. We both had seared tuna, excellent. The drinks were good and the homemade chocolate cake was moist and delicious. Service was friendly and the prices were reasonable. Will definitely return.

Stunning beach with stunning food

With a beach so beautifully blue and calm, and with waves lapping the sand, this beach bar feels so perfectly Caribbean. After a good nearby swim, we sat down for lunch suitably relaxed, and ordered rum punches all round. Food included the sesame seed coated tuna, which was outstanding, with the centre of the tuna steak nicely pink, accompanied by a tasty fresh salad. The jerk chicken was tender and not over spiced. All in all a perfect lunch.

Dine on the sand

Wonderful servers, food and location. The tables are on the sand - definitely ask for one under the canopy in the event of sudden rain showers. The servers are welcoming and friendly. The menu is all good. I recommend the coconut shrimp. We will be back!

Best beach bar

We were lucky enough to be staying at Lance aux Epines cottages for 10 days, so the Sand bar was steps from our door . We visited many times during our stay, sometimes just for cocktails, and sometimes for food . Best location for a bar EVER !! The cocktails are great , and the food is also really good . The coconut prawns, the seared tuna, the rotis were among our favourites. Staff were lovely too . The car park is the entrance before the cottages .

Beautiful location , views and we enjoyed our food

Walked along from The Calabash hotel for lunch . Lovely location and views. Nice menu . Very happy with our shrimp roti and Caesar salad with fish. Nutmeg ice cream was delicious - worth a try .

Delicious food and amazing view. Great and friendly service. Delicious drinks and fish. Chicken tenders were good for kids. We came twice on our trip and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Sand Bar was Terrific

We were very happy with our visit to the restaurant. First of all, the food was absolutely perfectly prepared. But the service was even better. Even though we anticipated needing some typical island time patience, that didn’t even come in to play here. We strongly recommend.

Truly a gem

This restaurant is truly a gem. The food is excellent, the service is first class, the location is fantastic. And they brew the best espresso in the island. I particularly recommend the grilled fish, but everything is good.

If you remember The Beach House, you will recognize some of the dishes and styles that have been brought over!

Beachfront. Sand in your toes. Sunset cocktails. Amazing steak or lobster or fish or pasta. And then the bill comes and you go "whatttt???". It's one of the best places to eat and drink on the island.
