Excellent meal for a real deal. Tides are currently running an offer of 50% off your food, which in this day and age really does mean value for money , my wife and myself both had starters a soup and a Caesar salad followed by chickens goujons and a steak one drink of diluted orange the other water. Came to less that ÂŁ27 .

What a great lunch, nice table by window looking out to sea. Food choices were “curry Soup” excellent taste and texture. Mains were the Tides smokie, good amount of smoked fish in a dish with tomatoes and potatoes in a superb sauce (needed spoon, so good) Honey chilli chicken noodles had a lot of chicken in a great sticky sauce (again excellent) Service was very good and all for a very fair price. The lunchtime offer was have three courses and you get unlimited house wine in 1 1/2 hours, if only I wasn’t driving ! Next time. Highly recommend this place, it was excellent and you can book online.

We arrived for lunch seated quickly beautiful view from table 11. Browsed menu and ordered we were informed that with the 3 courses we were going to have you could have a bottomless house wine which is a cracking offer but because I was driving we stayed on the water. Starter arrived beautifully presented and tasted amazing them the main course another amazing dish we ordered dessert and it was a lovely mint aero cheesecake all dishes were delicious and cooked to perfection serve was great constantly asking if everything was good and attentive bill was under ÂŁ60 which I thought was value for money and portions were large great restaurant and will definitely be back.

Had been several years ago and absolutely raved about it! Family decided we would go to portrush for a couple of days and I was so excited to show them how good Tides is - or unfortunately, was. We arrived just before 8pm so it was not very busy, however the service we received did not reflect this. It took about 15 minutes for our drinks to be ordered, which then came about 15 mins later - about 1 min before our starters. All the waitresses were extremely young, which I have no objection to, but it seemed clear that this was just a summer job to some of them according to their attitudes. I had ordered garlic and chorizo prawn starter which had no flavour to it, but the hot oil from this spilt over my partner by one of the waitresses all over my partner’s jeans and burnt him. This was not even acknowledged by her, no apology was given, she just said she would get someone to clean up the oil on the floor. I was going to express my unhappiness with this but my partner did not want this addressed so we did not. We requested a jug of water when ordering our starters and this was brought out when our mains were brought out. One of my party had ordered the fish which was extremely dry and almost had the texture of chicken. When the mains came out, the same waitress left all the food at the end of the table and did not hand the meals out. For £18 and not including sides, we really had a sub optimal experience and I could not see myself recommending Tides or revisiting in the future. Extremely disappointing, especially for £160

Just back from a dreadful meal at tides Portrush. I have ate here on numerous occasions the last time in May 2024 and the food was good. Today was another story, I ordered seafood chowder, it came in a bowl filled with 10 small boiled potatoes, there was 2 tiny pieces of salmon, 2 mussels and lots of hard peas and pieces of carrot, oh and 2 pieces of toast …and it cost me £18-95, it was dreadful! And very expensive. We then ordered apple crumble and custard, the first time it came it was cold, after microwaving it we found the apples definitely came out of a tin and the crumble was not homemade, unbelievably tasteless. A big rip off, we will not be back, go to Amici’s…vastly superior and cheaper too!

Took my dad for early Fathers Day dinner and there has been a real decline in the quality of food gone out. Whilst my dad’s meal was ok, both mine and my wife’s was not. My wife ordered the chicken wellington and the portion of chicken was small and had been flattened. This was served with a lukewarm at best sauce. Very poor for £18.00 with sides charged extra. My fillet steak wellington was spoilt by a lukewarm sauce and a pastry that was bland and tasteless. The fillet steak was also very small and at £26.00 without any sides, it was disappointing. My wife had her meal changed but the evening was somewhat tainted by this. When stating our disappointment to the waitress and assistant manager about the new menu and the need to do the fillet steak with fried onions and without the pretence, they offered 10% off our £100.00 bill. We have been going to Tides restaurant for years and unfortunately will not be returning. They have changed the menu for the worse, overcharged for the quality of the food and the waiting staff were going about that quickly it felt as if we were in a fast food restaurant. If you are looking for something to eat, I would avoid Tides and go somewhere else. You will get a better quality meal and service for the price elsewhere.

Great food and lovely scenery however... This is not our first time visiting but certainly our first disappointment. The service was extremely poor. We had booked out tables in advance. When we wanted to order anything we had to physically go looking for a member of the waiting staff. To top it off the air conditioning was not working. I have experienced the heat upstairs previously but tonight was horrendous. No effort to reduce the heat and you are left to melt while eating your dinner and dessert when it finally arrived. We will have to seriously consider returning in the future due to the poor efforts of serving staff. This was for a family of 10 people.

Very disappointed in last visit, we requested downstairs seating due to disabled family members, but was told by a young looking inexperienced lad that we had to go upstairs, We all got upstairs, waited and waited to be met by a girl telling us we should be downstairs, but then told us they would clear a table. We were a party of 13 people, who were jammed in like sardines, making eating quite difficult. 3 people had finished their meal before the other meals were brought out in dribs and drabs. One meal was forgotten about. At best food was " warm" really unacceptable as restaurant wasn't overly busy. Staff clearing nearby tables were dropping food and cutlery on the floor, the cutlery was picked up, but the food wasn't, making it dangerous for customers as this is a clear hazard. The menu has been changed, and they no longer have the " Meal offers."like before, plus our table was full of glasses that wasn't cleared away when new drinks were ordered. Sad to say we all agreed it was highly unlikely we would return, as given the money that was spent, we certainly were grossly overcharged as both the standard of the food and the service was dreadful

We decided to book for an evening meal here after passing on a walk. Fantastic location but that’s where the experience ends! Chaotic service, waitresses without aprons serving food with slop on their clothes! The food is awful, I had a goats cheese starter that was absolutely tasteless served with greasy toasted bread. Main’s weren’t much better, tough steak with a pastry arch over it constitutes a beef wellington! Greasy tough duck meet chucked in a bowl with spaghetti with prawn crackers chucked on top. Three times we asked for the bill until it came and then had to be adjusted for what we hadn’t eaten. Looks great from the main road but please avoid the food and service is poor.

We have been visiting Tides for years, somewhere we always visit when coming to see family in Portrush. Unfortunately this time (Tuesday 6pm) was awful! Service was just full of mainly young girls who couldn’t look more disinterested in their job! Everything we had to chase! We had arrived and was still waiting on children’s menus (we had asked twice) then the waitress came over to take drinks order - the drinks arrived 20mins later. Food was left on table, we asked for dips (wasn’t asked if we wanted any!) never came once asked again they eventually came (children had nearly finished dinner by then) dessert menu came again slammed down on table no mention of what cheesecake of the day was! Eventually found someone to ask! We ordered water for the table again never came 20mins later after chasing it arrived. I think service goes a long way and unfortunately this was just awful tonight. The young man (manager I assume) was doing all the work! Whilst the younger girls just chilled! Sort it out tides you will lose custom! Such a shame as the food was nice enough! Also charging for your sides on top of the deal you do on menu is a rip off even on kids menu!

We had a reservation for 9 people and waited almost 30 minutes before anyone took our orders, even drinks. The food was fine, but we ordered coffee at the end which took 45 minuiresti to arrive and was cold. The restaurant was clearly understaffed, with no apologies whatsoever. Some additional well trained staff would surely make for a better experience and a more profitable business.

Went to Tides with great expectations as we had been before. We were a party of 3 with a booking for 8.00 pm. Our table wasnt ready when we arrived and we were asked to sit downstairs and wait until we were shown upstairs to our table. We sat and waited again at our table and no-one approached us to ask if we would like pre dinner drinks. Our order was eventually taken by an extremely disinterested waitress at 8.50. We ordered cocktails two of which were allegedly aperol spritz. They were tasteless and filled with crushed ice. When our food arrived the sides were cold and the creamy mash/champ/vegetables very dry. We asked for butter and it wouldn't even melt into the potatoes they were so cold. We left most of the sides. I had salmon with maple and whiskey glaze which was tasty but on reflection there was no taste of whiskey! When a waitress came to collect our plates we explained that we were disappointed with our sides. Her unprofessional response took us by surprise........"your plates are telling me something different". We explained about our long wait for food and that we ate what we could because we were hungry. Extremely disappointed with both food and service and would not return.

We have frequented this restaurant periodically for the last 10-12 years and each time it seems to get worse. The prices were more expensive in the restaurant than listed on their website. The rump steak was very tough, the salmon was covered in a bottled BBQ style sauce - very overpowering. Our waiter wasn’t briefed on the menu and didn’t seem to know any question asked, ie what is the soup of the night, (though we were served by 3 different staff). The female manager was very rude, she could learn from two of the young female staff which were actually pleasant and professional. Don’t think we’ll be back.

Like where do I start....I personally have never been presented with such low grade food in years. Service is appalling, prices extortionate and overall a terrible experience. to which I will never return. The restaurant was at 50% capacity yet we waited nearly 45 min for food. We are sorry same old story but the bill is never wrong! On its arrival several plates were returned with human hair or simply burnt. Like how can you charge ÂŁ20 for a single piece of frozen salmon on 3 asparagus sticks?? order a pint it arrives 35min later never again will i grace its doors or its sister eateries which as much the same avoid at all costs take my advice.
