Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were warmly greeted when we entered the small and cozy bar on the ground floor, with a couple additional nooks for larger groups. The restaurant in back was surprisingly good and efficient. My wife had a huge chunk of battered cod while I sampled the spinach and blue cheese salad along with the creamed spinach. Second floor is a gin bar which was devoid of people. We really enjoyed this place and would go back.

Great spot for food and drinks with music every evening. The staff were friendly and service was excellant. Good menu with very tasty dishes, I had the Arizona chicken after asking the waiter advice on two choices and he said this was a popular dish (great choice, thanks Sanchit). Prices reasonable, we will definately be back.

We had dinner at the counter, because without Reservation. They slipped us in with great kindness but in the end the location was beautiful as it allowed us to see all the comings and goings around this place very frequented mainly by Irish people. A great experience. Super cute staff good food , Average costs

Unfortunately disappointing visit. We attended this evening as a large group booking, 7 children and 8 adults.
Firstly we had a pleasant waiter James but that’s about as far as a good review goes..
Food was well below par. We have been coming to the Harbour bar for years. This time we stayed close by but in the past have driven an hour to make a dinner visit, we liked it this much.
Tonight we left and agreed we won’t be rushing back.
The ribeye was so chewy, not tender in the slightest- £38- absolute joke, sides all extra. They did take the ribeye off the bill but only after we over heard them saying ‘they’ve still eaten some of it’ the plate was full of chewed up meat that was left because it was inedible. Not once did anyone come over to the table to see if the food was ok once it had been served. Otherwise we would have told you then. For a large booking and with a cost close to £500, you’d think you’d check if the food was ok or even a manager come over at the end to get feedback.
The fillet steak kebab was also awful.
Champ and spinach nice.
Food has gone down hill and I’d agree with other customers although our server was lovely, the other staff looked like they didn’t want to be there, no smiles on their faces, not sure what’s going on but no one seemed happy.
Won’t be returning any time soon.

On Friday 9th booked for 6pm, we were shown to our table, which was near the desert counter. We had a nice young man called James serve us, the staff were all engaged with the customers although they seemed stressed, smiles were absent. And it really griped me that Molly was chewing gum all evening whilst serving.
The food though was well and true Ly over priced, the chicken on Pitta I had is definitely the most expensive chicken donor kebab I have had anywhere. It had minimal salad, nothing to dress the plate and very little apart from a marinated cut up chicken in the pitta. It looked sad and lonely.
How can this be the guts of £20?
The burgers although somewhat cheaper at £13 were very basic and the chilli chicken was just that a bowl of chilli chicken.
I have been before and wasn’t disappointed, however this time defiantly was. Based on Friday night I will not be back anytime soon, and I do not recommend for food.

Tables are so close together I could hear the next table chewing! Food was overpriced…£19.95 for a pitta filled with chicken and £4.95 for a small bowl of chips! Also didn’t even taste that nice.
I have been going to the Ramore restaurants for years but I will not be back. Far too over priced they are just greedy now!

Booked table and when arrived had to wait a further half an hour for our table.
When eventually seated the table wasn't big enough for our party.
The price of the meals had all risen from last year which is understandable, but the quality of the food left a lot to be desired.I had ordered a steak which was almost cooked to preference, but the quality of the cut was similar to supermarket steak rather than a quality cut from butchers as you would expect for the cost. No accompaniments were included and had to be ordered separately. For £4.50 per portion for seasonable vegetables you would expect a range of vegetables but that was to much to expect, instead I got a portion of small cuts of cauliflower and broccoli similar to the packs you get from supermarket with a shave of courgette. I also ordered a portion of champ which was very nice but was mostly mashed potato with hardly any chives mixed in.
All in all a very disappointing meal.

Called in for dinner, busy place but undeservedly so.
Bars, both gin and downstairs lively and excellent service.
Food in bistro very much over rated. £28 for mains with just a pile of fried onions, other sides approx £5, consequently can work out at £38 for a main.
Wine by the glass disappointing choice and flavour.
Service though was good.

Lovely family meal in cosy and vibrant rustic setting. We shared salt and chilli prawns gif starters (unbelievable), followed by mains, and shared a home made dessert of St Honore Gateau. What a delightful meal, leaving us all full as can be. Will definitely be back 👌

We tried for 4 hours to book using the numbers on the website only to continually get the "engaged" tone.
Finally got a number through Facebook Messenger and booked the Bistro but told only the Gin Bar was available but the same menu would be available.
We arrived on time and were shown to a table that had only high bar stools and a bar snacks menu. Apparently the person on the phone had told several parties incorrectly that the same menu would be available.
The safe choice of goujons were ordered, thankfully, as the burgers looked like microwaved Rustlers. Once the food was delivered we waited at least 5 minutes to get a member of staff to bring cutlery and condiments.
The crowd of young lads working didn't strike us as having any notion about genuine service. Even with social distancing they were overwhelmed by the small crowd.
Food was just OK, surroundings and service were grim and certainly not what we expected.
Such a let down on my 40th birthday and definitely would not recommend

This is my 3rd year in a row here with a small group of friends from Scotland on a golfing trip. We've tried other places around Portrush and Portstewart but Willie and his team here at the Harbour Bar are just fantastic. Willie is such a character and knows exactly what good customer service looks like. The food in the restaurant is excellent with decent portions. If anything, the prices are creeping up year by year and some will no doubt say it's overpriced. But for the best pint of Guinness, good food and great entertainment we'll definitely be back again.

Awful food ! Have eaten at the harbour restaurant for years was always a family favorite! Food was absolutely awful they are doing a grill menu for £9.95! It's not even worth 95p! Steak was like chewing gum full of grizzle .sea bass was the size of your finger .. chicken breast was very small unlimited fries were cold and greasy... Dessert are priced at £7.95 .. £1.50.. for fresh cream or ice cream on the side .. Definitely won't be back !!

Ate and drank there every night of our weekend trip to Portrush. The harbour bar is a pretty tiny pub with beautiful views of the leisure harbour and dramatic coast beyond. To the rear and above there is a substantial network of restaurants and additional bars.
There is a massively strong golf theme to the decor with many interesting mementos. Guinness takes an eternity to pour properly so it is a good idea to plan your orders ahead but it is so worth the wait. The bar area is a tight squeeze but everyone is warm and friendly. My English friends were blown away by the friendliness of both the staff and fellow customers.
We used the restaurant three evenings and weren’t disappointed by anything. The fish, steak and vegetarian dishes we tried were all delicious and generous. They were also very reasonably priced.
Our waiting staff were perfect, friendly, smiling and efficient. It is nice to feel genuinely welcome and a bit of informality is perfect in this setting.
This is a place for kicking back, relaxing and reconnecting with your nicer side.

Willie Gregg is without doubt the most welcoming of hosts to any pub but the signs were that the usual crowds making The Harbour Bar the most popular bar in Portrush we’re absent. The crowds were all at the Yacht Club next door there was no crowd outside the Harbour spilling across the car park and adding to the ambiance. It was a sunny afternoon so the cause of the lack of crowds can only be down to the exhorbitant price of the drink with a pint of beer at £ 5.95. Regret that I will not be back until the Ramore get a dose of reality

Had a couple of family members home from England, as we have a wee place in the Port thought what better place to take them than our old favourite the Bistro. How wrong was I.
The QR Codes to order drink in Gin Bar was slow and hardly any reception on phones. The by the time we got into restaurant 1 hr and 20 mins later, we had hardly any battery life in our phones, Wldnt give us a paper menu, so had to let my sister in law order and pay as both r phones went flat. then they gave the table beside us a few paper menus, wasn't happy. Food not the same either, my old fav Arizona Chicken was covered in spices. Will try Mermaid as long as no QR Codes, Adele a great head waitress.
