Friday evening meal

Even though it was out of season, the restaurant was still very busy and we were lucky to get a ‘walk-in’ table for 4. The menu was varied and reasonably priced, as were the drinks. The meals were presented very nicely on the plates, although the waiting staff were not ‘silver service standard’ they were polite. Maybe if we had booked we could have sat in the main restaurant, rather than the sun room (which is far from warm or sunny in January). All in All, an enjoyable evening, but may be advisable to book at the time of booking your hotel.

Home delivery of exquisite food

During lockdown this wonderful restaurant came up with the idea of doing a delivery Saturday night dinner and Sunday lunch...... not expensive for what you get . We availed of the dinner 3 times. It was amazing . Food prepared and presented cooked with all the instructions to finish it off. I set the table and we got dressed for dinner ! The meals were awesome. There are no better words to describe how it is. They deserve a medal not to mention they kept us sane!! Thank you so much Tartine. Please don’t stop offering this service. We would be really upset as we know others who would be too We look forward to the gentleman ringing out bell soon , bringing us dinner!!! 👏👏👏👏

Eclectic fare with excellent service

This unpretentious and tucked away culinary find is a sure win . The menus feature a vast culinary pallet with sea and land offerings . This evening we had the Thermador Seafood , fresh cod and chips , Gammon chop and sides of Buttered greens, chips and mash all very flavorful and presented hot and appealing . The bar and cozy sitting area is quite inviting upon arrival where they will give you menus and take your dinner order ....nice touch as you approach your table in the dining room knowing your selections are soon to follow. Be sure to finish your meal with the delicious Sticky toffee pudding ,or my favorite ....the cheese board with a wee glass of port . Nice Job Tartine ....see you next year !

Excellent meal

So pleased that we were fitted in at short notice. Service was excellent, swift and attentive. Loved being able to choose our dinning choices in the comfort of wing backed chairs beside a log fire before being shown to our table. Food was very tasty, as we ate early we availed of the dinning madness menu resulting in a very reasonably priced meal which was enjoyed by adults and children alike. Kids wanted to know when they would be back!..... Soon I hope....

Excellent restaurant

We had not been to Tartine for a few years due to Covid and while staying on the North Coast we booked on two evenings for the early menu. Never have we been disappointed with the standard of food and the service provided, this has been consistent over the years. The early menu is great value at £21 to include a glass of wine. We had meals to include steak (cooked as requested), chicken and gammon and they were delicious. The staff are professional yet friendly. The restaurant adheres to covid rules and as a very safe environment.

Sadly disappointing

We’ve been keen to sample the fare at Tartine for quite a while but it can be a hard place to book, especially during the tourist season. So we were delighted to get a short notice cancellation! As previous reviewers have said, the early bird menu looks great and good value but unfortunately we were too late for this. We therefore had to choose from the main menu and we found this limiting. We did ask our server would it be possible just to have a sirloin (as they had served them all night on the early bird) but this was promptly dismissed without negotiation. Perhaps she felt we wanted a cheaper meal - we only wanted a steak at any price! We ended up ordering a chicken supreme dish which was a grilled chicken breast served with local veg. The food was cooked ok, but was lacking in taste. The presentation was poor - cramming the elements of the meal into a soup plate rather than a dining plate. At the end it actually looked like something we had fed our children when they were younger. Surprisingly not once were we asked if we had enjoyed our meal. It was also interesting to hear another party close by complain about their meal. This surprised us as a lot of reviews mention the attentive staff. Perhaps we just got the B team. So we paid our bill and left, probably never to return. Disappointed when we expected so much more.

Hello Alexis, At Tartine we are good at what we do and have many years experience looking after our guests. When we get things wrong we are the first to hold our hands up and we have many ways in dealing with any in-house complaints that a diner may have and which results in a benefical manner for all. At this stage we have now listened attentively to you in the restaurant,we have replied to your email and i am now responding via tripadvisor. On the evening of your visit you were indeed much too late to avail of our early bird menu which ceased at 6.30pm and not all night as you have suggested. Our Chef on duty that evening deemed it not possible to have the steak from early bird as the kitchen team were now in the midst of a very busy a la carte evening dinner menu service. This menu offers lots of choice with an array of local Seafood and Meat dishes that included our popular Hay Smoked Beef fillet steak ...but you found this limiting. At this pivitol point when you were refused the sirloin you well and truly threw your Adult rattle out of the super king size!! My lovely staff had no chance from here on in. You were indeed checked twice throughout the evening with varying degrees of response from yourselves. To keep things factual the other party you 'overheard' were asking for a change of sauce which is a very minor query and was sorted efficiently by the team in a matter of minutes..to the complete satisfaction of the guest. Thank you for honouring your bill on the evening but it was at this exit stage that our Covid Safe one way system was completely ignored by yourself and you proceeded to meander through the restaurant to the way out without wearing a mask breaking all the Covid statutory regulations. We are happy for you to take your patronage elsewhere. Gary Stewart

Excellent, as ever

First time back since lockdown. Organised, wonderful service, amazing food. Simply brilliant. Had scallop starter and then Bushmills whiskey smoked salmon on seafood thermedor - cooked to perfection. My wife had potato and leek soup, followed by sirloin, followEd by roulade desert. I fu I shed with a nice cognac and espresso, pre dinner drinks and bottle of red -such good value. Definitely recommend and will be back again soon

Tartine at home.

Without a doubt we have considered Tartine to be our favourite restaurant on the North Coast but due to the extended lockdown it has remained closed. However they have provided a takeaway menu for the weekends over the last few weeks. As a result of the easing of restrictions we have at last been able to come away from home for a break and take advantage of their Sunday lunch. The ordering and payment on line was simple and the entire meal was delivered to the front door at 11am. Full instructions on completing the meal were enclosed and easy to follow. We enjoyed a generous portion of slow cooked beef brisket with all the trimmings followed by a delicious apple and rhubarb crumble. I think that at this time with businesses struggling to cope it is our duty to support in any way those that have adapted to providing whatever service they can.

Yet another terrific meal

Yet another terrific meal and experience in this well-run, top quality restaurant that we’re lucky to have in the area. We had one of each of the 2 steaks, both cooked perfectly and with delicious, thoughtful accompaniments, all served on warm plates (which makes all the difference). As ever the staff were just great and the drinks, dessert and starters were first class. Thanks Tartine!

Had meal here last night before Covid closing. All Covid regulations were in force and we never felt at risk. From initial greeting by staff to the social distancing the regulations were strictly enforced but the star of the show was our food. Truly delicious. I had the poached pear to start and the other half had the salmon. Whilst I went for the salmon for main, he had a fillet steak which was and I quote “ perfect” First meal here but certainly not the last.

Top notch restaurant

This was a return visit for us to this lovely restaurant. We had three different main courses and desserts from the early bird menu and all three were excellent. There's a lovely atmosphere in Tartine, friendly and efficient staff and low key background music that you can hear but don't need to raise your voice to talk over. A lot of restaurants could learn from this approach! We will definitely be back next time we're in Bushmills. All felt Covid safe and tables were well spaced. Excellent!

Fantastic meal

We had dinner here with our two children. The restaurant has a great menu with lots of variety and also a great kids menu. The early bird special was exceptional value and all of the food was delicious. The quality of the food, the fantastic service and the reasonable price made for an excellent visit. We would definitely recommend a meal here and will return again.

The most unwelcoming and disappointing place we ate at during a week in Bushmills.

I'll start with the text message confirming our booking and also threatening a £30 charge per head if we failed to show. I don't know what problems you've had before to warrant this but if we book somewhere to eat then we go there to eat. It came across as a little aggressive and certainly not welcoming. On our arrival we noted the statement on the menu indicating the table must be vacated after 1¾ hours. It didn't look that busy. It made me feel uncomfortable, rushed and unwelcome. I would also note that as customers, we have no control over the speed you serve us and cook our food. We ordered drinks - the selection of draft beer was very limited so I chose a coke. I know it's only a coke but it's supposed to be a carbonated drink and this was pan flat. Not a bubble in sight. I left it rather than complain. After about 15 minutes seated at the table I was uncomfortable. The padding on the hard wooden chairs was so thin and worn that there may as well have been none. I ordered the scallop starter. The topping was burnt - I had to chip it away from the scallop shell and was left with a bitter aftertaste of burnt bacon and breadcrumbs. I didn't want to make my friends wait while they cooked another, so I chose not to complain. Had I not been trying to enjoy a pleasant evening with my friends I would have sent it back. The rest of the food we had was adequate. Nothing to complain about but not particularly memorable in any way.. I didn't bother with dessert as I just wanted to be somewhere else by then. It was a shame because we'd been looking forward to our visit as the restaurant appeared to be well-recommended. There are much better places to eat in Bushmills.

Tasty Early Bird dinner!

Building from outside is very deceptive as once you go inside you realise it has been renovated snd extended beautifully in a rustic contemporary style. We went for the early bird meal at £21 for 2 courses including a glass of wine or beer or a soft drink. Service was very good. Meal was piping hot. I had a gammon cutlet with champ and Savoy cabbage and my husband had braised beef and root veg and mash which were both excellent. Tables were very well spaced and they operate a one way system around restaurant which makes you feel very safe in a Covid context. Will definitely return.

Early bird menu equals excellent value for money. Both our starters tasted great with mine having a boiled egg in breadcrumbs something I’ve never seen or tasted before but will definitely do so again my wife had the cranberry again breadcrumbed but beautifully done the mains were a Irish bacon loin which really means gammon steak . Served with herbed potatoes was excellent whilst my wife had the slow cooked brisket. Again tasting excellent . A glass of Merlot to wash it all down . Perfection from my point of view . For tourists or locals an ideal way to taste local produce.
