We’ve enjoyed a lovely week in Bushmills and made the most of this lovely local inn. We’ve eaten out there 3/4 tines and always had great food, great service and the staff seem very aware of the safety issues around c19 with disposable menus, sanitation stations and restrictions in restrooms etc. I think some of the reviews are harsh and not focused on the great food and the history and atmosphere this place provides! If you want good food and service in an historic inn.... visit here... you won’t be disappointed

Have eaten here on 4 or 5 occasions over a number of years most recently in December 2019. The menu is somewhat small but ultimately they are aiming for fine dining so that's to be expected, it does have variety to be fair. Food is well cooked, has lovely presentation and has good flavour. Staff are very attentive and the place has a lovely atmosphere. It is expensive though, most mains are somewhere between £15 - £20 without a side and the cheapest side is £4.

Absolutely loved this place, the food was amazing, waiting staff so attentive and polite. I had beautiful smoked salmon and perfectly cooked steak with bushmills sauce.
However, the cheapest wine was 32 sterling - my partner wanted a wine which would odrdinarily cost max 20 sterling which was almost double that price! this was a very special occasion for us so we did splash out but there is no need for these prices during these times when eating out is such a special treat.
i did feel Covid Guidelines are being adhered to very well.

We live locally and have had food/drink before. On this occasion we were with family who were home from England. We arrived early as we had been told on the phone that there was already a queue for the gas bar opening at 6pm and it was rammed!
We easily got a table outside (it wasn't rammed?). I asked at reception how things worked and was advised by the guy at reception to wait outside until the gas bar opened.
On waiting along with other customers we noticed that other people just arriving were going in despite this.
I asked again at reception if there was a system in place and was advised by a (different) guy that we could come in and wait near the Gas Bar and it was first come first served. Had I been told this in the first instance, we would have gone straight inside and waited.
It was a 'free for all' with no staff supervision. Hand sanitiser at the door was not being used. Staff were not wearing masks nor were customers asked to despite many of them not adhering to social distancing. There was no track and trace system in place to record names and contact details.
A waiter provided paper menus which were being reused by other customers.
We waited several minutes before he returned to ask if we would like a drink. We asked for the wine list and if there was dairy free or vegan cheese available. He disappeared for several minutes and could then be seen taking orders from other diners. After 30 minutes my daughter went to the bar and asked if he had forgotten about us. He said that he was busy and would be over soon. He never arrived.
Eventually a young waiter came and very efficiently took drinks and food orders. He attended us for the duration and was excellent.
The food was mediocre and would not have been worth the full price had the eat out scheme not been
available.
Overall I feel that an establishment of this calibre could do better.
A waiting list system should be put in place to ensure fairness to all casual dining customers.
Track and trace and sanitisation measures should also be implemented.

To give Bushmills it’s due. When hubby informed them that roast beef was well under par, he was not charged for his meal. Rare roast beef should not be tough. Carrots/ parsnips - tasteless. Why big queue to be served. More staff needed on the pass. All in all not the best Sunday lunch experience. We would rather pay top money for good meal.

We have been to the bushmills inn several times and were looking forward to making the most of the 'eat out to help out' deal. We called ahead and were informed the restaurant was fully booked but if we arrived for 18:00 the bar would be opening then and serving food on a first come first served basis. We arrived approx 17:30 and again checked with one of the staff who told us to sit outside and wait until 18:00 and we could have a drink while waiting. We watched other people arriving and seemingly going directly into the bar but assumed there must have been some pre booked tables. At 17:50 we decided to go inside to see if we could get a table to be told they had no tables available as they opened the bar earlier to start serving. We and the people behind us were very disappointed as no one had told us the bar was opened early, in fact the opposite. The couple behind us also had been told to arrive at 18:00. The waiter we spoke to or the reception could have told us, instead we have wasted our time waiting and couldn't get a table.

We visited here for our anniversary dinner. The food was fine but totally overpriced for what it was . My lamb dish was £24.25. It came with one piece of asparagus, one baby carrot and a few peas. The potato dauphinois was an extra £4.75 and if I had wanted the luxury of some vegetables that would have been another £4.75! My husband ordered the sirloin and asked for medium rare but it was cooked medium. After being given the bill the waitress never returned to take payment. In the end we went out to reception to pay and were told that we could have paid at the table or at reception but waitress had not told us that and we had seen her take the card reader to another table.
We were really concerned that no member of staff was wearing any sort of face covering. The only precautions against Covid was a hand sanitiser at the entrance and paper napkins and menus. There was only one way in and out so very difficult to social distance.
Next time we want a delicious dinner at a reasonable price with impeccable service we will be visiting The French Rooms or Tartine where this is always guaranteed. Also we will feel happier because good precautions against Covid are in place in these restaurants which was certainly not the case in the Bushmills Inn

Live reasonably locally and am a regular customer. Called in on a cold day for a hot drink and a snack by the fire. Only one of the fires were lit and the atmosphere was decidedly dull. Asked for hot chocolate made with soya milk or other dairy milk alternative. Waiter asked if we were residents???? and advised that we could not have this if there was no non dairy milk in the fridge .... they would only go to the shop to buy some if we were residents!!!!. The snack menu is limited and did not include a hot drinks menu. The discrimination against non residents, poor attitude and lack lustre menu and ambience were very disappointing. The Bushmills Inn did not live up to it's website description on this occasion. We went to the local cafe where non dairy milk was available as 'the norm' and where staff would happily have nipped to the nearby shop had there not been any. All served with a smile in a cosy atmosphere and a fraction of the price.

It was a tasty roast lunch but so very, very lukewarm, coldish. Bushmills, again, needs to be told to serve at a warmer temperature. The only warm thing on plate were the roast potatoes and I am sorry to say, they need roasted more. Overall a nice lunch but the chefs should do much better.

We ordered the cullan skink fish dish with a poached egg ( which was hard) and I had a burger with skinny fries which was relatively okay but when the two cokes turned up ( pictured) we both fell about laughing.....nearly 6 quid for the pair!
Atmosphere and the interior were very nice and the overall experience was enjoyable......but sorr the drink sizes please.

Firstly the positives: the staff were wonderful, they made us feel very welcome the moment we came in the door and couldn't do enough to make us feel comfortable. The Guinness was excellent, and the restaurant is beautifully laid out and decorated.
There are three reasons for the low score. Firstly while the food was nice (I had the salmon and my partner had the lamb) the quality was not sufficient to justify the price. Secondly the portions were quite small, I would recommend ordering side dishes, although this adds to the already heafty price. The third and main reason for the low score though is the lack of facemasks. We ate at several restaurants during our Northern Ireland trip and while the tables are sufficiently spaced here, this was the first restaurant we were in where the staff were not wearing some sort of covering. I would recommend management encourage this going forward as it is becoming the norm and goes a long way to helping diners feel safe during these strange times. We spent a lot of the meal, and the day after worrying about it.

Saw this restaurant here on trip advisor so booked a table for a Saturday night, which I’m very glad we did as it was very busy when we got there. The whole meal cost £136 for 4 people, this included a drink each and a main. 3 of us had a gin and tonic (there was so much choice in gins) and the other had a mocktail. For mains 2 people had filet steaks which came with fries. 1 had the chicken and the I had the rump of lamb. All the meals were really lovely. The lamb was so tender. Definitely go back when we visit Northern Ireland again.

It has been a few years since we enjoyed a meal here, and we enjoyed it immensely.
Starters of fish cakes and chicken liver parfait were a lovely palate warmer for a superb main course of ox cheeks in a rich dark gravy.
The prices are a bit higher than other local establishments but for a special occasion the Inn cannot be beaten.
The food is locally sourced and expertly cooked, and the service quietly efficient.

Enjoyed an early meal here seated in an enclosed booth which was great to feel private and distant from other tables. The service was good and staff all in masks.
The food was delicious and I was delighted that they allowed me to switch the sauce for my chicken to the Bushmills Cream which was supposed to be a steak sauce - it was amazing. Dessert of a chocolate and salted caramel tart was the icing on the cake.

Went to Bushmills Inn with high expectations this evening but k somewhat disappointed. Starters and main courses were very bland eg I had the salt 'n chilli squid which had no chilli whatsoever. My husband had the steak (lacked flavour), and his peppercorn sauce resembled gravy as it had no peppercorn flavour. Side dishes were also lacking in flavour. Even with the Eat Out to Help Out deal we felt our meal was overpriced for what we got. On a positive note however the desserts were good and the staff were very pleasant and attentive.
