Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This family run restaurant is a perfect choice if you want to experience delicious home cooked Portuguese dishes cooked with love and care then this is the place to go! Prices are great, service is excellent and the friendly vibe there with locals and visitors alike feels welcoming. My only advice is to book first because it gets really busy. What I would call good, honest food served traditionally…. Enjoy!! ✨

So inexpensive for great value. Sea bass was perfect and cost 14.50 euros for an entire fish with boiled potatoes etc. The entire evening was excellent and though inexpensive it was not in any was lesser quality.

I went with my family to dinner at "Tasca do Petrol", in Marmelete (road that connects Aljezur to Monchique). On the warm summer night, we were well received by the staff. We ordered soup as a starter (very well prepared)_(1.90€). As main dishes we ordered the following: - Ham (very good)_14€; - Squid (small)_€9.50 (excellent but I wish there were more potatoes on the side). Half a jug of wine (€4.50) – Bacchus would have been happy. Traditional Algarve desserts (a little excessive in sugar)_ €3.50 Excellent dinner with a good atmosphere.

Reception very kind, and friendly, although spartan as befits the place. You eat very simple things well, cared for to perfection. The mixed grill is also cooked in the right place, tender and crisp at the same time. If you get to Saturday and Sunday things change for the better and there are typical and uncommon dishes such as the “faceiro de porco” pork cheek, secretos de porco and other amenities. Good choice of wines at very honest prices and sweet enough light, to be in Portugal. If you go for mushrooms, chestnuts, myrtle and woods in general I suggest you not to miss the stop before returning to the Atlantic that sparkles about ten kilometers on the horizon. They do not accept credit cards, but this can be a good idea to keep “hit and run” tourists away.

Friends from Portimao recommended it to me last year. Thus we met the very nice Pedro. This year I went with other friends in april and in may and Pedro I had the feeling that he recognized me. Without wasting time he recommended the various meat dishes, also suggesting the quantities. For me it is the best place to eat meat in the Algarve. No frills, basic but with a vast menu. On Sunday, book the kid. You can go at 12 or 2pm. The side dishes are also fabulous. Don't skip the desserts. You would regret it bitterly. All the staff are kind but we remember Fabio with pleasure. The owner Pedro is a real character and he has excellent English... and in my opinion also Italian, French and Spanish. Roberto (italiano).

Number one: Go for lunch on a Sunday; many locals flock here with their families and the place is alive with energy. There are a few specials cooked up for Sunday lunch and they are worth trying. Number two: Make a reservation! This is a must for Sunday. We booked for noon and arrived early. The place was full in a matter of minutes. The food couldn't be fresher, more plentiful or a better value. No need to say more, just go.

It was the first time I ate ears! Fantastic! Definitely to repeat. I have tasted a lot of pork baths and none were so creamy, starting from that, after my deceased grandmother's cabrito I thought I would never like to eat any more... but here I put the cross on the table and I felt like a child again. Tiny and juicy cock. Now imagine that the hammer was even better. I thought you didn't like ham but it surprised me. I recommend cabrito and pernil. The staff is wonderful. But I didn't eat any.

Top restaurant with top staff and really scrumptious (meat) dishes The best place to enjoy porca preta, ribs and pigs cheeks. The prawns are also incredible. If yourw going to Monchique then this place is a must. UNVACCINATED FRIENDLY :)

We drove past this restaurant on our way from Marmelede to Monchique. Decor is rustic and the menu simple. Lots of grilled fish and meat. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious! The squid cooked in garlic was tender and covered in slithers of garlic. The sauce was mopped up with their bread. Piri piri chicken and grilled pork ribs were excellent - tender and full of flavour. The salad - simple and delicious. Do yourself a favour and stop here if you’re in the area.

You can get black pork on most rural restaurant menus but this meal was particularly good. We had a large dish of pork fillet strips, with vegetables, and sadly the inevitable French fries. Well recommended for this remote area in some of northern Algarve’s most beautiful countryside.

Smell the mountain! Very welcoming space. Very attentive service - we are at home. Serrana food where the pig and the pig are kings. Couves (Algarve cooked) Secrets with Meadows Cheeks (divine) Sweatshirt (the best in the world) … Everything very good, everything done with affection!

Authentic! Baked pork shank with potatoes: killer! Pleasant waiters and local dishes! Very reasonable prices! In short, a place where you can eat well! Lots of premises: a guarantee of quality!

With table marked, the waiting time was one (1) hour. Unethical behavior. Only the "entry" was satisfactory. The main dishes sufferable. The desserts suffer. The wine presented as being of PIAS but who knows the wines, realizes that it is not PIAS

Our Portuguese friends suggested we join them for lunch, one of their better ideas. Pork cheeks, ribs, chicken piri piri and house red. What's not to like? Very reasonable prices. Certainly going back.

Amazing restaurant. We live in Denmark, but my partner is from Portugal, so we're here 2 or 3 times a year. We always visit this restaurant. It's a 30 minute drive for us, and always worth it. The food is amazing. We always get pork, but they have other options as well. The staff is amazing and it's very family oriented. Its also tourist friendly, as they speak english. I dont think its the place to go if you're vegan or have a strict no fat diet, but otherwise I would say that they have options for everyone.
