Stopped after visiting the Hundertwasser loos. Nice wrap with freshly prepared filling, toasties, croissants etc looked good too. Excellent coffees. Recommended.

Very friendly and good, reasonably priced food and drinks. The décor and furnishings are basic but irrelevant in the scheme of things. We were a group of 8 on the Twin Coast Cycle Trail on a very wet day and were made to feel welcome...despite being wet and muddy.More

The food is delicious and the team at Elaine’s kitchen are great to chat to. We had a burger, wrap and croissant and all were fantastic.

Try the mince on toast with eggs! Perfect mix of flavor, with beans and a hint of chili. Perfect start to the day.

This sparsely decorated (only a few tables/chairs for the size fo the place) cafe is probably the only one in Kawakawa that aspires to healthful food. Having said that, there were a few vegetarian dishes and no vegan ones. There was only one staff member...coping with the slow trickle of (mostly takeaway) business but we were on holiday and happy to linger. The food wouldn't win any awards in Ponsonby but the prices were good, the salad wrap was enjoyed by the wife and my nachos was tasty. Like most cafes I guess this one must have been hugely impacted by the pandemic restrictions and I'm glad it survived. It's not a "wow" cafe but it's a solid choice in a small town that lacks choice.More

Friendly service. Cafe nice and clean although decor underwhelming. Ordered 2x eggs bene and 1x eggs on toast with coffees. Would have preferred the spinach wilted, as is the norm with eggs bene, but spinach came served straight out of the packet. Young woman was...there by herself serving and cooking so pretty busy and it may have just been an oversight but if we go back for a eggs bene Brekkie I will make sure I ask for wilted spinach. Coffees were excellent.More

This place changed hands only a couple of weeks ago, and the young woman who runs it now is friendly, chatty and attentive. Even though we only had take-away coffees, it was obvious that the new owner is trying hard to make this a nice...cafe. We’ll gladly stop in for a meal next time. Good luck, new owner!More

Don't be fooled by "Good food done well", written on the window. It couldn't be further from the truth. My elderly mother ordered a takeaway cheese and pineapple toasted sandwich, despite my dire warnings to the contrary. Nothing for me, thank you. The smell and...the general state of disrepair pervading the space was a real put off. One bite of the limp, greasy toastie convinced my mother I was correct - another donation to landfill.More

Hi there, I’m sorry you had this experience, this cafe has just changed hands over to me, and I would just like to apologise, if you ever gave us a chance again I will definitely make it up to you 🙂

We used to give this place a 5 star rating but since Elaine has sold it it sure has slipped a bit. Great pity it is on the cold side of the street

Great coffee at this cafe which also offered a range of vegan treats. The service was excellent and we would be happy to visit again.
