Stopped in here as I was passing through. Wished I had just driven past now. $7 for a potato top pie that’s so small it fits in the palm of your hand and has fake watery mush on top instead of potato. My local bakery...sells them for $4.80 and they are a lot bigger and far better quality. I feel for any local that thinks this is normal.More

The staff were certainly friendly and funny. Service was quick, and there were seats which was handy. Our sandwiches were reasonably priced but a bit stodgy.

Nothing here looked all that good except for their donuts (doughnuts) and we had heard they were good, so we got them to go eat on the tour bus. Man were they MESSY! They were okay but much more "bread-y" than donuts we are used...to in the States.More

We stopped in Kawakawa to see the famous toilets and had a bite to eat here - my meat pie was stale and the chicken and chips soaked in oil - both were almost inedible and we left them on an outside table uneaten

Stopped in here for a quick lunch and grabbed a beef mince and cheese pie. The pastry was light and flaky and delicious. I'd definitely go back for another pie.

Well my egg and chicken sandwich on seedy wholemeal bread was very tasty. My friend didn't think much of the apple turnover though.

Don't stop to eat here. This was the third time we tried the cafe and we are never going back again. The ham in the ham sandwiches was brown and the bread stale and had mould on it. The pies had too much crust with...too much gravy and really tough meat. The fried chicken tasted like to was under the heat lamp overnight. The toilets, well forget them. Just walk on by to another cafe. So awful.More

Why don't the owners/staff sweep the pavement outside their shop? It's disgusting. Looks like they need to waterblast the pavement tiles their outdoor tables and chairs are on as well. Yuk! Went in on Saturday for a couple of pies and noticed the filth and...cigarette butts, returned next day on Sunday and filth still there, cigarette butt in exactly the same spot as the day before. On the up side, their hot pies & sausage rolls are really tasty with lots of filling in them and a reasonable price.More
