Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped for a quick cup of tea and carrot cake on my way to Greytown. Terrible service - 2 girls chatting behind the counter - I had to ask to be served. Tea and cake delivered to my dirty table. No teaspoon, no cake fork...- no serviette. Stale cake - which was probably from the supermarket - def not home made. Really average - experience in a Sunday afternoon. They need to up their standards. Such a shame as the view is beautiful.More

Very disappointing experience. Nice welcome on arrival, but rapidly went downhill thereafter. Six of us (three couples) ordered straight after each other. First meal came out after about 20 minutes which was ok; however , the final meal did not come out for another 25...minutes, including the extra bread ordered to go with the first two meals that came out. Staff were very interested and rude when we politely asked about the meals we were waiting for. Meals were average, but almost cold when they came out. Would not go back.More

My Mum, sister and I had a lovely time at the High Tea. The lady who served us was extremely attentive, the food was delicious and the tea and wine were lovely too. We were especially impressed with the effort that had gone into the...food, especially as one of our party has Coeliacs and was catered for beautifully. Thank you so much.More

What a fabulous place filled with kind, fantastic staff I come here often to visit the gardens but this was the first time we stayed. It was the absolute perfect place for our brief honeymoon Can't recommend it highly enough, whether for a walk, high...tea, or to stay longerMore

A really scrumptious breakfast, generous portions and appropriately priced. I cannot fault the cleanliness of the cafe, timeliness receiving our food and the friendliness of staff. We will definitely be back.

Went for high tea. The service was very slow. Some items were missed and had to be requested. The room is also quite noisy.

We went for a high noon tea to celebrate our grand daughters 11th birthday. We were seated quickly in the high noon tea area, we had to wait ages for any service, eventually I had to go and ask for some water. Placed our drinks...order and after at least a 15 min wait the waitress came and told us that they had no English Breakfast tea left and we would have to order something else. Really!!!! no English Breakfast tea - bad ordering or planning by someone. Food was well below expectation for both the adult plates and the childs plate. Nothing special at all - cheese sandwich, pikelets with sprinkles - not what was expected for a high noon tea at $45.00 per adult and $35.00 per child. But wait - when we went to pay we were charged $55.00 per adult and $45.00 for the child. Not what was quoted when the booking was made. 4 adults and 1 child, that added up to a $50.00 price difference and they ran out of tea. We all felt totally ripped off at the price and the complete lack of nice, posh food. Will not go back and don't recommend the high noon tea - there might be more value in the cafe meals - but we will never know.More

We both had pancakes for breakfast, they were cold as was the bacon. Only a small arty drizzle of maple syrup on the plate none on the pancakes. To make it worse the drinks were anemic, my hot chocolate was really just warmed milk with...sone chocolate on topMore

We met here as a half way point to collect my niece and nephew. Had not eaten here before and am sad to say would not go back. We waited about half an hour for cabinet food, did not receive the drink I ordered. The...brunch food came and that was nice but took way too long. It got even busier afterwards so dread to think how long others would have waited. We were one of a number of people that complained at the counter. One couple completely gave up and left without their food. Such a lovely spot though just please look at your systems and find a way to improve.More

Dreadful food, pathetically small for $24, looked like a child’s portion. It used to be a great place to go for food but must have changed hands or they’re trying to save money, either way we will not go back. When questioned did not get...a satisfactory response, complete cop out. I wish I had taken a photo!More

We had Devonshire tea at the cafe to celebrate the birthday of a friend. Scones were beautifully light and fluffy. A real bargain given the promotion at the moment. A quick walk round the gardens was a treat even on a cold, grey day. Definitely...worth a stop if you are heading over the hill.More
