Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was my second time coming to Boneface, nice decor and atmosphere, and plenty of options on the menu. I ordered the fried chicken burger, nice presentation however the ratios were wrong, the burger buns were too small for the amount of food that was...inside, and the burger bun wasn’t toasted. The fried chicken coating was crunchy and had a nice flavour but the chicken was over cooked, the red capsicum sauce didn’t really go with chicken, I think like a spicy mayo would of suited the burger/chicken instead of the red capcicum sauce. The salad was underwhelming, it tasted like a packet salad from the supermarket. The burger was really akward to eat and really expensive. I enjoyed the fries, they were crunchy and plenty on the plate but the tomato relish was quite sweet for the fries. Overally, not super impressed, maybe I need to try something else.More

It doesn't much effort to acknowledge your patrons who are waiting when running a hospitality venue... but not here and it has not changed in over 3 years. It's almost they are so arrogant behind the bar that you are an inconvenience to them

I was extremely disappointed with my meal which was meant to be lamb steak. There was no way the meat was lamb steak. It was lamb, but it consisted of fat and sinew with a thin layer of meat between. I could not even cut...through. Would not recommend.More

Visited here as part of an event and it is certainly vibrant and popular area. Downside was we were happy sitting outside and keen to eat…went to order only to be told the chef did not provide service for dishes we wanted if we were...seated outside. With no seating for our party indoors we were limited to hot chips. So meh - we decided to head to the city. Mixed views - would return but not overly keen on the venue. Plenty of activities nearby.More

The service was great. Serving staff were friendly and prompt. The food was in our opinion expensive for what we reviewed. The brisket for two for example, was small when compared to the price. The chicken dish however was perfect according to those that ordered...it. The beer choices was limited compared to other venues we visited at the location.More

We stopped in here on the way to Welly from further north. It was a miserable rainy Sunday and Brewtown was pretty quiet. We didn't have a lunch booking so they sat us at a bar leaner, which was perfectly fine. I think we arrived...around 11.30am and there was space but despite the weather it did start to get busy around midday (so I would suggest a lunch booking). We had loaded fries and a couple of drinks. It was good. I liked the industrial feel of the space and the Boneface artwork on the walls. There was a dog in the restaurant which made me happy (a golden retriever, not a smol pupper by any means). All in all, we'd stop in here again for a refresher after driving over the hill from the Wairarapa.More

Food was average. Lovely atmosphere. Catered for dietary requirements and had a gluten free burger which was great. Unfortunately, brisket was very dry. Portions are huge. Beer tasting was fun.

Visiting Brewtown for the first time 28th August, we had a booking for lunch at Boneface. Wow, what a vibing atmosphere, lots of people, families and even dogs just enjoying their time, eating and drinking. I loved the art work on the wall, reminds me...of spacie games. I ordered a burger and a sampler paddle of beers/cider, super delicious food wise, and beer I ended up settling on Lithium. Our server was pretty crack up, tattoos and a tank top and really funny, got our orders in quickly. Our follow up round of brews took a while but grabbed our server on the way past and he chased it up. The setup was great, not too crowed but a full house, i.e. the tables where far enough apart people had ample room. If this was in Auckland it would be too jammed packed, tables too close and full of drunks. Boneface felt like a relaxed vibing environment for everyone, can’t wait to return.More

When I ate here for a friend's birthday the service was super slow I waited 45 minutes for a singe drink that just sat on the counter while others got their drinks taken to the table and then once I received my drink it turned...out to just be bourbon and coke with the thinnest orange slice in the world for 16 bux .the entire table I was with did not enjoy the food as everything tasted just like fat I literally left the ENTIRE plate of ribs because it was aweful and the burger was just dripping with something.. if it wasn't for the fact that the front of house staff were super polite and friendly I would give one starMore

Went there last night to try the WOAP burger. I’m not one to l leave a review or complain but extremely disappointed. Pork crackling popcorn was just supermarket popcorn with some sort of sugary, caramel. The “burger” was a bit of rib in a bun...with bbq sauce, pickle and onion all for the whopping price of $30! Plus drink. Definitely not what was advertised on the WOAP site. The local competition is way ahead in imagination and value…More

Table for four and two dogs. Two chicken burgers, considered the best, was the comment. Two WOAP burgers, they were really meaty, delicious. The husband liked the portion size. Crispy fries to accompany the burgers. It was great not having to sit out side with...the dogs, they came in and were happy to sit under the table. We were so full, we got a takeaway container for the Mac+cheese and corn bread. Service was A+ from when we walked in the door to paying the bill. Great atmosphere and relaxing.More

We had high hopes after reading the reviews on trip advisor but unfortunately left highly disappointed and underwhelmed. The service was average & the food was tasteless. When we were asked during our meal how it was, we expressed our concerns and received an ‘oh...yup’ All other bars we have been to at Brewtown have been outstanding. Fair to say we will not be bringing our business back here.More

We tried small plates of 6 dishes and all were presented well and tasted very good. Tried also their beer and that was fab too. Booked in advance but was late due to traffic and the guy on phone accommodated request to change booking. Customer...service on site also fast. Nice Friday lunch spent with family.More
