Just before Christmas I took two friends to Chikos Restaurant for dinner, having never been there before, and we were all absolutely delighted by the experience. We were guided to a private booth complete with large cushions and the owner personally came and introduced herself before talking us through the menu/making recommendations according to specific dietary requirements. The food was superb and the attentiveness of the young waiter was wonderful. I look forward to returning to Chikos in the not too distant future and will be recommending it to my friends.

Hey guys, We booked a dinner table for 4 last evening. In summary, the place is definitely worth the first visit and then decide if you will come back. The preparations are good and you will find a little twist in every item. One of us was veg but unfortunately they do not have any veg item in the menu. They made a special dish, no name though, but it was reasonably good - at least the presentation. Others had salmon, lamb kofta and lamb bbq on stick - all were generally tasty and well presented.Portions were not huge, but quite filling for a moderate eater. The mains were bit pricey @$30+ but I suppose that's the order of the day. They have a wide range of desserts on display to choose from @ $15+ , They appeared to be yummy though. Service is something they need to pay attention to. We ordered drinks, starters and mains, Well, they all came together. This is where they failed this time. Credit cards attract 2% surcharge. Now for our ~$200 bill, isn't it bit ridiculous?? I know as a merchant they are charged a fee, but to ask for it back for the prices they charge, appeared to be bit unsocial to me. Ignore the negative remarks, give them a try anyway,

Chikos Rst.& Cafe HENDERSON West Aucklands best hidden secret for amazing food and service. Do not be put off by the exterior this venue is definitely a winner in every aspect of hospitality. As soon as you enter through the doors you feel an amazing positive vibe and calm. The interior is cosy and decorative with Asian pacific flare. Definitely tells you the cuisine food they specialise in Asian pacific fusion. The service from staff is on point friendly and knowledgeable. We had a gorgeous server who explained the menu in depth and even gave us a Visual run down on desserts made us smile lots. The food we selected for ourselves were well presented, very generous portions and absolutely delicious. We were all gobsmacked with our meals. Dessert was just as delicious and amazing could not fault. Coffee was the cherry on the top to end a wonderful night of great dining and great company. Summary; Affordable dining fo any occasion Great for families with kids Parking is safe and free Check out the website for more detailed opening times and booking options Definitely a venue we recommend to everyone and yes we will be back. 5/5

We have been to Chikos around half a dozen times now but unfortunately we won't be back. After being completely ignored for 15 minutes we asked for our order to be taken, only to be told they were very busy and it would be a further 15 minutes before we could order. This isn't the first time service has been slow but usually the food more than makes up for it. Not this time. The scallop entree only had 2 small scallops, the sushi was excellent but the salmon included skin that wasn't crispy, sloppy noodles and stringy okra. The duck was tasteless and chewy. Also, the water was room temperature tap water and even the wine wasn't cold. All up a very disappointing experience and considering there are many local restaurant choices we would simply rather go elsewhere.

Our 3rd visit as reminded of their yummy deep fried pork knuckles by a fren. Still as good. But for a small eatery out in the West, prices may be a lil steep. And don't bother with their cocktails. The "Lipstick" consisted of vodka, rum and cranberry jus put together in a tall class. Their Bento box @ $38 was full of fusion flavors. Interesting.

Okay so, went here with my family on the weekend (23/05/2020). I’ve had a bit of a mixed experience here hence the 3 star rating. The restaurant area is quite right which meant they couldn’t really adequately distance people. Other restaurants have mostly taped a few tables in between other tables to ensure distance, they did not. We were given a table at the corner at the far end. Good thing was it was far away and felt private. Bad thing was that you step up to the table, step down to the chair and then put your feet down and sit down. Getting out meant, standing on your chair, stepping up and then going down a step. We’d ordered the entree tiger prawns; yakitori chicken and lamb shank. The yakitori chicken and tiger prawns were fantastic. Unfortunately the lamb shank was too salty. I completely get how busy they would have been after being open just a few days since going into level 2. The drinks service was also a bit slow. I would be keen to give this place another go, once things have calmed down a bit.

We went here due to other trip advisor reviews. They reflected exactly the quality of the restaurant. Outstanding food. I had the mal of the day - snapper on risotto and my husband had the pork knuckle. Best pork knuckle he has tasted anywhere in the world as it was not dry and the crackling was perfect. We feel moshed off with a dessert from the cabinet- the chocolate mousse which we shared. Yum. Meals a good size. More expensive than a cafe but worth the money. Will go back to try other items on the menu.

The restaurant that we initially wanted to go to for lunch was fully booked, so we decided to look around for somewhere close by. By chance, I had seen this place on the way and we decided to give it a go. The first thing that strikes you is the number of plants, both outside and inside. It is great to see plants used this way. The decor was strongly Japanese influenced, interesting and pleasant. As you entered there was a glass display case showcasing their desert selection. Nice! I was a bit confused by the menu. Was this a Japanese fusion place, Mexican / Latin American fusion or something else? There was mention of "Pacific Rim" flavours. We ordered one entree (Pinegar - beef sirloin and soba noodles) and Pata Grande (crispy pork knuckles) - to make room for dessert. The server asked if we were sharing and brought sharing plates. This is a nice gesture as most other places we have to specially ask for sharing plates. Any concern about the menu was soon put to rest when the food arrived. The Pinegar had multiple levels of flavour. The steak cooked medium. The server didn't ask how we wanted the steak but medium suited us well as I like mine rare and my wife likes hers well done. So, she had the more cooked sides and I, the less cooked middle. The Pata Grande was even better. The slow cooked pork knuckle was tender, yet with a crispy skin. Nicely accompanied by intricately pickled daikon and a coconut shrimp paste with an unami hit! We ordered the potato chips option but I think this would equally go well with the rice option. It is such a pleasure to see a bold chef creating layers of deep flavours and textures that challenges established norms. What a breath of fresh air! We would definitely go back to try the other items on the menu. Lastly, we ordered dessert. This was equally bold with literally multiple levels of different ingredients, ranging from coconut ice cream and shaved ice to custard. I have to say this one didn't quite hit the mark but I still appreciated the effort and thought that went into it.

It is an OK place that has been viewed as the best Outwest. However, l think over the years ot has gone down. Very pricy for what you get. Most of the drinks are from the cane. I ordered margarita ( mocktail) l was surprised when the lady brought a cane and opened it right in front of me, then she added a slice if lemon and l paid $12 for that. A total reap of. I did ask as lnwas paying and she said no they don't make drinks in the store. So there you go. The food was OK, the steak l had for $ 40, well, lesson learnt, l fekt like l paud to sit there and get just ok food. The other people enjoyed their food but l think it is overrated for what they serve.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise! So refreshing to eat food created by a passionate chef! Our meals were each a celebration of taste and colour! Highly recommend the "grilled aubergine & fetta", the "venison & prawn quesdillas" and the "cigar enchiladas". These are the only dishes I tried and they were all fabulous - the other dishes looked amazing too and everyone was really pleased with what they ordered. The staff and service were also spot-on. We'll definitely be back to try everything else on the menu!

I came by for lunch to try it out since I was in the area. There is a parking lot for the shops in the area. It isn't very big but there were a fair number of parking spots. There are two doors into the restaurant but it seems that the one on the left is the main entrance. The doors slide open but it's not automatic. They do have a fair number of tables on both sides of the building. The menu was quite interesting, with a range of Pacific and Asian inspired dishes. I grabbed the satay of the day as well as the pork belly inasal. The dishes were quite nice to look at. There were multiple components which made the plate a bit busy but the flavours were nice. The satay was lamb and it was grilled quite nicely. I enjoyed the pieces of wanton wrappers around the dish as well as the sticky black rice turon which was like a rice spring roll. Very interesting and nice with the satay. The pork belly inasal wasn't very fatty, which I was disappointed about. However, it was also quite juicy and not dry despite the lack of fat. It was reminiscent of a roast pork dinner with the root veges and mushroom sauce. They also did have a dessert cabinet but I had already left the table so possibly for next time. It was a really nice place for some tasty-looking and delicious dishes.

Wow. Mouth watering menu with plentiful servings. The chowder is delicious and filling, so go hungry. Shared mains allowed us to try multiple delights and we savoured every morsel. . Highly recommend.

First visit to Chikos. Was recommended by work colleagues. Wasn't expecting much as there aren't many great eating out options in West Auckland. Anyway, to say we were pleasantly surprised is an understatement. We were greeted by Chiko who was lovely and explained the menu to us. The restaurant itself is lovely and it's also quite reassuring when you can see the chef's preparing the food. Oh yes, the food. The food was spectacular both in presentation and flavour. Absolutely perfect. Dessert was a surprise too. I won't spoil the surprise by explaining but you may not be able to say no - even if you feel you can't eat anymore. An amazing dining experience. Looking forward to my next visit- very soon. Thanks Chiko and your amazing team.

What a pleasurable surprise, doesn’t look like much from outside as it’s located within takeaways & shops on the main road. But the food is Sensational (full of flavour). Meals are generous sizes and priced accordingly. Team are friendly & you can’t leave without trying one of the deserts. Great place for family, friends or celebrations.
