Right over the road from my accommodation the store is perfectly placed for those wanting breakfast /lunch. Doubles as the local post office and souvenir shop too. Friendly, cheerful staff and a delicious whitebait sandwich.

This was a lovely place to get out of the rain & stop for lunch on our way to Fox Glacier. The mushroom burger and chips were delicious. Serving size are generous, one serving of chips can easily be shared between 2-3 people. There's a good selection of food on the menu and the prices were great!!! While here, pick... More

I pass through Whataroa a lot and always stop off for a Cappuccino and a toasted sammie when I stop there.

I loved all these little cafes along Highway 6. Nothing was ever too much trouble, selections were plentiful, and the home made soup - especially at Whataroa - was delicious on a wet and grey afternoon. They also sell all the basic provisions you're likely to need. There arent alot of places to eat in Whataroa so this cafe was... More

It is a one horse town and this is the only shop. There is a pub that does food and a petrol station. The shop is not well stocked but survival food is available for home catering. The post office is very handy. The cafe part is homely and I had a great whitebait sandwich. Whitebait here are minuscule opaque... More

This cafe opens at 8am just in time for you to have a hot breakfast and catch the 9am tour to the White Heron Colony which departs just across the road. The food is good standard fare and reasonably priced with pleasant service. It also offers some general store items and is also the post office.
