Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The tiniest coffee cart you ever saw, but the owner delivers a decent coffee, and also serves up the local specials whitebait fritters and venison burgers. Perfectly located right across from the park, playground and toilets at the start (or end) of the Haast Pass.

Fantastic little food cart in Haast township, just off the main road. The whitebait fritter was excellent and the burger contained medium rare pieces of locally-caught venison. The iced chocolate was awesome too. Nice to chat to the Haast born-and-bred owner, who has been running...the food cart for 14 years. Tough times at the moment, but support her if you can.More

Stopped here for a whitebait fritter and was treated to the best I had while visiting the West Coast. Stacked with whitebait, bulging out the side of the bread and cooked to perfection. All done while having a friendly chat, nice work. Don't go past,...definitely recommend.More

We were driving by and saw a line outside her small caravan. We decided to take a chance. I have the venison sandwich. My children have the steak sandwiches. We love them. Very reasonable price to. We took a chance and we’re very glad we...did.More

We enjoyed the good coffee and the beignets at this amazing little food truck along the road. A good place for a coffee and snack break.

We stopped here today and we enjoyed our food a lot! There are 2 options: whitebait patty or burger, 10 NZD each. Both were cooked on the spot with fresh ingredients. The burger meat was a juicy and plump venison steak (not minced!!). Good espresso...as well!More

To our surprise we spotted this little coffee cart at the Stewart Island Ferry terminal (in Bluff) - although gather sadly they’re returning to Haast soon. Loved the sound of the venison burger and whitebait patties though had just eaten a big brekky so wasn’t...a happening thing. Ordered coffees though which were absolutely delicious, and the lady making them was very chatty and friendly.More

Stopped here for some whitebait patties as you do on the West Coast and the lady who runs the food van was lovely. Very chatty whilst the pattie was cooking and told us about the West Coast and what parts were her favourite. The pattie...was yummy but there wasn't much whitebait in it.More

Stopped at this cute tin food van foe lunch as was not disappointed. I am embarrassed to say that after polishing off a whitebait omelette we shared a venison burger...flavoursome and tender. Cannot recommend one over the other so have both. We sat on grass...next door on a perfect summers day and enjoyed our picnic.More

It was a lovely surprise to find the perfect meal when you least expect it - we had a superb venison burger comprising a couple of slices of fillets seared quickly to keep it juicy and tender and also the national dish of whitebait patties...but with the great addition of wasabi mayo. This place beats at lot of cafes and restaurants with it's great ingredient-driven, honest approach to food. Well done!More

No seating when we were there. We hung around the van, ate and chatted to the friendly woman preparing our food. I wouldn't want to sit around in any case because of the midges. Make sure you apply midge repellent before... More
