Good pizza, quirky family run eatery

Pizza was excellent. We will be back next time we visit alp dhuez for sure. We went rwice inva week. They appear to over commit to seating people mind you, they didn't put our reservation in the book but seated us anyway, there aren't many tables no waiting area so it's very tight in there. They have takeaway service so customers are waiting arpund for takeaway at same time as sitting vustomer. One lovely lady making pizza with her family waiting on. Very quirky unusual restaurant experience but I guess this is what makes it such a good place to dine. Big thumbs up

Attention to detail

The pizza here was fantastic. Upon arrival I was warmly greeted and was told to sit wherever I would like. The pizza selection is varied with interesting combinations for pizza toppings. I wanted a particular pizza that among other toppings also included red and green peppers. I love red peppers but not a fan of green peppers. The owner told me they were already mixed together but when she brought my pizza to me, she had separated out the green peppers so they would not be on the pizza. Now, that’s great service. Then when I was finished, she told me to take my time and stay as long as I’d like. So friendly. Loved this place.

Excellent Pizza and super host/proprietor. We arrived late for our booking due to a delayed Taxi but we were still welcomed and enjoyed a very nice meal and bottle of wine. All pizzas are prepared by hand with the best of local ingredients and organic flour. The cheese was particularly good. We then asked for assistance to order a taxi as the taxi that brought us was finished for the evening. The proprietor was very accommodating and phoned a few but there was no answer from any. (Seems to be a usual issue in Alpe D’Huez). Then she very kindly offered to give us a lift in her own car to our Chalet which was too far away and uphill to walk. Now that is what we call excellent service. Thank you so so much!!! We are very happy to recommend this casual but very good Pizza restaurant. We will certainly be back on our next visit to Alpe D’Huez.

We placed an order and were told it would be one hour to collect. When we arrived we were told it would be another 20 minutes. When we went back again, we were told there wasn’t enough food to make our pizzas! The owner was rude and was saying this as she was making pizzas for people in the restaurant. Appalling service. Avoid avoid avoid. Never recommend.

Great food but double check your final bill

I went here with my son and several other families when we were staying locally. The food was great and the service was great. But as we all left at separate times due catching public transport, we gave my sister what we thought we all owed based on the prices on the menu and the venues website. My sister’s family were left to settle the final bill but found they had a 33 Euro deficit which they now needed to cover against what they thought they owed. They couldn’t work it out as we had also all left money for a tip. They paid assuming that we (the other families that had left) had calculated what we owed incorrectly and returned to their apartments. My young niece had taken photos of the menu earlier in the evening, as there was only a couple of English menus. She decided that she was going to check our bill off against the menu, to see who had made the mistake. Thinking it was us! But it wasn’t us, she found that every item on our bill had 1 or 2 Euros added onto it compared to the menu prices. The family went back and questioned it within an hour and were refunded the money straight away. I can’t say exactly what or why it happened but my advice would be to double check what you are paying against the advertised menu prices. The explanation that was given was that there was a new menu with reduced prices and that our waitress hasn’t realised that there had been a change. Maybe that was the case but it seems like a lots for a small venue to be reducing their prices by. The food was good but being overcharged was disappointing and if it wasn’t for my statistics loving niece we would never have known.

Amazing food & service

Super friendly service. Amazing pizza. And the dessert (profiteroles) was to die for. It seems the owner/chef was in the kitchen alone which made the quality of the food even more impressive. And she even took the time to make a round and check on with the costumers. The waitress was also super friendly. Will be back for sure!

The perfect french Setting, cozy, hospitable, great service topped with amazing food. It is what you look for when your in the alps, a few wooden tables and food cooked to perfection. The owner was very kind and helped us with great recommendations. One of the best pizza’s i have tried in france.

Fantastic place for a wonderful meal & evening!

Le Roy Ladre was recommended to us by both the hotel & the bike shop. We are so glad we ate there! It was not only delicious food but the entire experience was perfect! The owner/chef was so attentive, she had a wonderful welcoming personality & the atmosphere was so charming. We tried to go back again on our last night in Huez but unfortunately she was closed.

The best pizza I’ve ever had!

The best pizza I’ve ever had! We came across Le Roy Ladre by chance one night and the place was just opening so we managed to get a table. We decided to book a table for our last night as it was so good. We were only in Alpe D’Huez 4 nights!The owner Stefanie is amazing, she makes everything fresh by hand, I can’t fault the place at all. It was always busy but the staff were always so attentive. I would highly recommend anyone staying in Alpe D’Huez visit here, but definitely call ahead to book a table as it’s quite small.

Best pizza in a long time!

Pizzas here were really excellent. We ate a lot and still didn’t feel stuffed in the normal way. It was busy and so I can see why some people from previous reviews had to wait a while, but we got there at 7 and service was great. Best pizza I’ve had in a long time!

15 for Pizza on New Years Eve!

We were a party of 15 for NYE! This little restaurant coped magnificently with our party. Communication before the night was excellent and we were made to fell very welcome. The food was excellent even if the Banana split was missing the vital ingredient! The pizza was fantastic. We will be back - thank you 😊

Amazing pizza 😍

This place is a little off the beaten track, but it is absolutely worth the walk. The garlic bread and pizzas are amazing! So so tasty! A very small restaurant, but packed throughout the evening. If you’re looking for a place to eat in Alpe d’Huez, this is the place to go!

Fantastic place, super friendly and accommodating, slightly off the beaten track, but all the better for it. Superb pizza hand made in front of our own eyes. Book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Great pizzas

Italian style handmade stone oven baked pizzas I got a custom made with 5 toppings that was superb. My daughter had the ravioli which is very different to what you expect from the UK but if your here for the pizzas then you can’t go wrong
