The catch of the day (Mahi Mahi) was prepared simply and deliciously and the whole plate was perfection! My husband who is as picky as I am about food loved his tsunami bowl as well. The kale salad was pretty good and the service was friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a casual, healthy and delicious seafood meal. Of course they also have other items on the menu and one can only hope that they are as lovely as what we ordered.
Oh and also another note: the prices were great! Two entrees, a big salad, three glasses of wine and tip all came to under $150.

Found Fond by accident after leaving the beach. Decided to look over the menu… obviously creative, which is a plus for me. Prices looked reasonable too, and believe me, a LOT of Maui is anything but reasonable in that regard, even understanding that they’re still trying to recover from the Lahina fire in every way.
Wife ordered a pork and lentil cassoulet she liked so much that she asked Chef Vasquez for the recipe, which he provided the next day! I chose the seafood "Tsunami ", which was truly excellent - both appealing to the eye and palate. Left feeling satisfied and not impoverished. Very highly recommended. While we could not join the weekly "Chef's Counter" event, I would imagine this is worth planning your evening around in case you are able to reserve I spot on a Sunday.

We had been recommended to try Fond but didn’t know what to expect. Fond is a little off the beaten path but easy to find and convenient with plenty of parking.
We began with cocktails, with craft variations of Mai-Tais and an interesting Ginja drink served with a candied ginger garnish.
The chef obviously puts great effort into the meals which were well presented and fused with interesting combinations of flavors.
We had the Caesar and kale salads which were very good and served in quite generous portions. For our main dish, two of our group had the Flip-n-Out burgers which they said were some of the best they’d had, and I had the catch of the day, a grilled mahi mahi dish, which was excellent.
Although feeling quite full, we ordered the cast iron brownie with ube ice cream (we substituted vanilla having had ube the night before elsewhere) and enjoyed decadence, making the dinner more than complete.
The meal was not cheap but was in line with Lahaina’s other restaurants we have visited. (Hawaii is not generally a place fur deals, it seems.)
We recommend Fond highly and would come back again!

We are frequent visitors to Napili as we have ohana (family) living within walking distance of FOND at the Napili Marketplace. We were fortunate to have been to FOND during their first few weeks of operation and try to get in every trip we make. While they do not have the expen$ive ocean view of some dining establishments, the food is every bit as good, if not better.
The owner/chef has an imaginative menu and we see changes on each visit to Maui. There will be something on the menu for everyone in your party.

This place looked as if it was a nice Asian-American fusion.
However to our horror it was an absolute abomination of a so called fusion of cuisines.
The staff were terrible, they couldn’t even take a simple order. We waited 30 minutes for our food to come and it turned out that out of the four dishes that we ordered, a total of two of them were horrible. In particular my steak was probably the worst that I have ever had in the states. It was over cooked bland, barely seasoned and as chewy as a leather shoe.
To be fair at least the desserts that we ordered were actually edible, average at best.
On top of all of this, the staff were terrible. In particular the person who took orders and also worked behind the till. There was something vindictive and vicious about her. She somehow managed to charge us with the wrong bill. After a short lived stage of denial she finally accepted her mistake. She then gave the card back and she decided to charge us the with the correct bill. This was apart from the tip. We entered a 15 dollar tip. She glared at me in envy.
“A ten dollar tip is that all?” She queried
She said that she looked at the wrong bill.
I was going to give her a 15 dollar tip but after this inconvenience I just gave her a 10 dollar one instead. And I said this if for the chef and your hardworking colleagues.
That is a full summary of my experience at restaurant fond I would not recommend.

My husband and I wanted to find a local place away from the beach resorts. The concierge recommended Fond and we couldn't have been more pleased.
We sat at the bar and did not want alcohol that night. The Mai Tai mocktail was delicious! Fresh pineapple juice and lime.
Our meals were visually appealing and delicious. Fresh catch was mahi mahi which my husband said was prepared with the most delicious sauce. My arugula salad was full of vegetables and topped with a grilled piece of mahi mahi covered with a citrus dressing. It was super yummy!
We had to try the home made cookie sandwich which was worth the extra calories.
A quirky type of decor but loved enjoying dinner with locals. Highly recommend!

Even though Fond has been open for about six years, I never noticed it in the Napili marketplace location. I'm glad I finally saw it during a run.
The restaurant has a homey atmosphere with friendly staff, several seats at a welcoming bar, and a comfortable ambiance.
My wife had the panko chicken and kale, which she greatly enjoyed. I had the evening special, which consisted of mahi mahi, sweet potatoes, watermelon radish, and one other ingredient that I can't recall. It was beautiful in presentation and was marvelous to taste.
We shared a piece of Basque cheesecake and ice cream for dessert and walked away very happy.

Hubs and I went to FOND to enjoy the Chef's Tasting Menu (Chef's Counter), and enjoy it we did.
Chef Jojo led us on a culinary odyssey from caviar and celeriac to scallops and squash to strawberries and beyond. He explained his rationale behind each dish and answered questions regarding its preparation. I really appreciate the fact that he introduced Sean, his assistant, as a member of his team. It's nice that he appreciates his staff.
There were a few misses though. The caviar in the first course was served on a cheese crisp. The flavor of the cheese was so overpowering that I still don't know what caviar tastes like. Also, this dish included thinly sliced potatoes, celeriac and Japanese turnips. Unfortunately, these vegetables shingled themselves together which made the finished dish difficult to eat.
But the biggest "miss" to me was the concept of these dishes as a complete meal. Each dish, although beautifully prepared and immensely flavorful, was very rich with its full share of butter and/or cream. I would have loved to see a salad or other palate cleanser to excite the taste buds.
In short, if you want to see a memorable, classically trained chef in action, this is a dining experience you won't soon forget.

This place is a gem. It’s located in a quant strip mall where the Napali Market is and offers open air dining with a local comfort feel but high end vibe. The dishes are fun and flavorful. Plus the staff is welcoming and friendly.
We only wish we had tried it sooner since we waited until the end of a 2+ week trip not leaving time to return a second time. We’ll definitely be back on our next trip and highly recommend.

This place was near our condo so we dropped by during Sunday brunch. I had the eggs benedict with crab cakes that was the special that day and it was one of the best benny's I've ever had. Amazing crab cakes. My husband got the burger and fries and said it was one the best burgers he's had in a long time. And we both agreed the fries were incredible. I came back again on our last night for take-out and the fried chicken bites were also fantastic. I'm tempted to take off one point because the chairs in the dining room are, without a doubt, the most uncomfortable chairs I've ever encountered in my life. But the food was so good it was worth it (and the bar stools are fine).

ATMOSPHERE:
Nice trendy atmosphere with asian-fusion food. Dim lights made for an intimate feel. We ordered a salad and one main dish.
FOOD:
Asian slaw (3.75 out of 5): Nice fresh and light slaw salad with a good ginger sesame dressing that wasn't too overpowering. A good mix of crunch from the wontons in the salad. Makes a good intro to the main meal. If you're not a salad person though, you could probably skip this one.
Seafood Tsunami (4 out of 5): Good for getting a taste of multiple things in one entree. The rice and furikake were cooked properly which is a good start (I've noticed a lot of places on the island serve dry overcooked rice). The ahi poke was fresh and the shrimp grilled very well. This came with Marlin at the time, which isn't my favorite type of fish, but it was done pretty well.
Overall, this place was nice for a night out to dinner with good ambience.

We stopped in for a quick lunch in the middle of a few adventures. We had great burgers and a bento box. There was one young lady working as the waitress and she was remarkable. She was handling all of the takeout orders and the in-restaurant diners (at least 10 tables) and she did it efficiently and effortlessly.
She was also happy to assist with questions from all of the tourists in the place and recommended off the beaten path places to see.
Would strongly recommend this restaurant for affordable and wonderful food and service.

Overall the experience was good! It does feel like the vibe is stuck on the fence between casual and fancy. I can appreciate a nicer place that still works with casual though.
Lettuce wraps were amazing! 10/10
Chicken bites were pretty good 8/10 (need some other sauces)
Loaded potato wedges 6/10 (the thought is great...the toppings, etc were great...the execution was lacking. Very little stayed on the potato wedge and the toppings were pretty sparse.
Service was great! Drinks never emptied.

Don't let the restaurant's setting in the Napili Plaza Shopping Center turn you off. Once you step inside Fond, you're in another world, spacious restaurant with bar and counter seating plus abundant tables. Menu items included Asian, Hawaiian and "new American." I chose the Seared Catch (mahi mahi) with seasonal vegetables and rice. (Hawaiian veggies are superb!) My partner opted for the sirloin and broccoli dish---both entrees were well prepared and served hot. Pleased we tried this restaurant and enjoyed one of our best meals on our vacation!

Joey's has just re-opened, and we are very happy about that. We had eaten here on our last visit and enjoyed both the food and the service.
While the menu is a bit more streamlined, there were plenty of options for me (pescatarian) and my husband (happy meat eater).
We had a delicious cocktail (the special for the evening) a fresh Caesar salad, and the assorted fish bowl - all fresh and delicious.
The service is friendly and attentive.
We highly recommend you find and try Fond!
