Delicious food paired with your own choices of wines to sample - how can it get much better? They offer three 50 ml pours of wines of your choosing for $16pp, so between the 2 of us we tried 3 whites and 3 reds. The ability to pair wines with food is so important, and changes the tastes of both the food and wines, making both better in many cases. The pork belly was the stand out dish for us. Service is friendly and attentive. Large areas both indoor and outdoor for dining.

Having stumbled upon this winery restaurant by chance driving through the Moutere hills, we stopped for a drink to discover the place was very busy,
Very welcoming maitre’d showed us to a table inside, where we enjoyed a drink, some bread and the atmosphere.
Decided to book for lunch mid week, and enjoyed the best meal we’ve had on the South Island during our travels from the UK.
A table under the trees, my wife had the fish of the day, delicious, and my fillet steak cooked to perfection. We shared a portion of fries then each had really tasty desserts, all washed down with the recommended wines.
The service at our table was very friendly and helpful when trying to decide what to eat. The food was served at just the right speed, what more could we want?
A very acceptable bill that put the UK to shame!!

We came for lunch on a Thursday and the place was full so a booking is recommended. My partner had the long board of five tapas on a wooden tray and I had the trio of pork dish. Serving size was great so a side dish was definitely not required. As we had seen some desserts being delivered to other tables we made room and both had the trio of desserts served on a small board. These were great.

A regular longterm visitor to this spot and the first disappointing meal I've had here. Out of kilter portion size with the hummus platter and a dish of ricotta balls with a salad that, saturated with vinegar and salt was unpleasant and at $32 that's very expensive. We didn't stay to try the puddings. I'm sad to say this restaurant apart from the location and helpful staff is no longer the outstanding choice for me and won't be going again.

Very good long lunch up at this beautiful restaurant and winery. The “5 tapas “starter to share was divine and really showed the skills of the chef. The main of beef fillet was beautifully cooked and served with beautiful accompaniment and sauce. Desert was good if a little over fussy. Wine list & wines great. We had a shared starter, two mains, one desert and several glasses of wine ( one DD , one person not) and took a bottle of Syrah away: very reasonable for $220. Great setting, terrace and excellent service.

A beautiful setting! The food was absolutely delicious. I had the ricotta dumplings, lovely balanced fresh flavors, and my partner had the steak which was cooked perfectly. The staff were attentive and accommodating with our requests, will most definitely be back.

Our extended family enjoyed a leisurely lunch here to celebrate an important birthday, and the food was exceptional. Great selection of dishes and wine matches, and excellent service. We were especially impressed with the efforts the chef made to ensure some members of our party with food allergies were catered for.

All staff were welcoming, friendly, & helpful. The food was excellent & the wine flight was a perfect match. Tracey our waitress really went the extra mile to ensure we had a great dining experience. She made suggestions & we went with it. We got the long board, which is 5 small tapas & the homemade hummus to go with it & chose the wine flight as a match. We then got the belly pork meal & shared it. Although quite full, we decided to give a dessert a go & got the dark chocolate ganche to share.
Thank you Tracey for your hospitality, the food was so delicious & you have amazing people skills. We felt relaxed & not hurried, a great afternoon.

i have to say that this is the best meal i have had in a long while.
The setting in the middle of vines and hop gardens was beautiful.....luvkily a sunny day so we sat outside.
The service was friendly but not intrusive and Valentina was our waitress - from Chile.
The long board as a shared starter was varied in ingredients and tastes.
For main, I had the market fish - John Dory. I am not normally a great fish eater but this was cooked to perfection and the stir fried vegetables offset the fish well. My wife had steak and enjoyed it.
Cheeseboard for dessert and a lovely pair of local cheeses with bread, crisp breads and walnuts - not to mention almost frozen grapes - and that is not a criticism.
My wife had a board of different desserts.
The wines were, as expected, excellent.

We took 40 people here for lunch in May 2022. The management and staff were outstanding in their efficiency and attentiveness. Despite Covid-related staff shortages and having to change style of meal delivery at short notice, they produced an absolutely stunning 'tasting platter'-style lunch that left our whole group raving about the quality and variety, especially including those with dietary issues. The service was impeccable as well, as was their willingness to make room for our musical duo to entertain. An extremely satisfying experience for us as organisers, this will be high on our list of repeat visits for our Notable Tours group.

We visited to celebrate our wedding anniversary lunch. The food and setting really is wonderful. It isn't the cheapest place, but it is well worth the money for the outside table setting and views over the vineyards whilst eating. They were able to cater for our vegetarian and gluten free needs, with an interesting selection (I thoroughly enjoyed my crispy broccolini) and flexibility in the deserts. Service was fast. Good selection of drinks, with wines from their vineyard as well. I couldn't find any fault, could not recommend it more highly.

Unfortunately not a great experience. The staff were great and the wine superb however, the meal was abit amateurish. My pork was very nice but too much conflicting flavors, my husband's Jon Dorey was raw in the middle. My favorite course the dessert looked like a school child had put it together. Sadly we won't be back.

The food here was fabulous although we very nearly didn’t get to eat here at all. The German Maitre D was incredibly rude and insisted the kitchen was closed at 2.55pm and we couldn’t eat. (The restaurant closes at 4pm on Sunday.) One of the other staff offered us an option of a antipasto platter. Based on the Maitre D’s treatment of us I would not recommend this place or go back there.

This place is worth spending the money! Beautiful location, relaxing place. Never felt rushed here! Friendly staff. I had the chocolate, caramel fondant and it was the best dessert I have ever had. For mains my husband raved about the aged steak. I had the pork which was really good. We got a side of chips as we were worried the meals would be tiny, but they were not!!! Didn't need the chips but they too were amazing!!!! Highly recommend this place. If you are going on the weekend book a table in advance or you possibly won't get in!

Our meal was for a special occasion, being a birthday. We had excellent service and were made to feel very welcome. Our food was perfectly presented and the flavours were to be savoured. The portions were not oversized or padded out with a lot of salad. We were both pleasantly replete.
