Disappointing chef's special of fish/steamed veg/coconut rice. Sauce was soy water basically. Long, windy road to get there. Not worth the effort.

With a choice of eating outside or in, we chose inside. We arrived mid afternoon so it was quiet. Once seated the waitress happily turned the music down, as requested, due to the speaker being directly above us. We were asked to order at the...counter but the waitress kindly came to our table (much more pleasant). You can’t help admire the beautiful nautical/beach themed decor. If I could give this restaurant 4 and half stars I would because on the whole the food, atmosphere and location was really great. My husband ordered the pork ribs which he said were excellent! The very generous portion of battered fish and chips also came highly commended from our friend’s son and the Buddha bowl with halloumi was thoroughly enjoyed. Two of us ordered the market fish black board special which was snapper. It was pan fried a bit too much making it a little dry/firm - disappointing for the price. We had envisioned it being moist. The coconut rice however was tasty as were the fresh steamed vegetables accompanying it. Personally, I’d love mashed potatoes with fish instead of rice but that’s just me. We ordered a bowl of fries for the centre of the table which were the best we tasted all holiday! For dessert, my husband thoroughly enjoyed his Affogato with a glass of Tia Maria. Presentation for all dishes was top notch! The staff that served us at the table were lovely and friendly - thank you. We will definitely return.More

Hi Simon! Thanks for your review, we are glad that you enjoyed your experience with us. Hooked Team.

Hooked on Marahau can be hot and cold from year to year. This Christmas period 23-24 is one of there better years. If you go for breakfast /brunch , don’t expect a basic meal, unless you have eggs and toast. Our meals were the vegetarian with...halloumi cheese , garlic truffle mushrooms, wilted spinach and small roasted potatoes. The other was French toast with a rhubarb compote, maple syrup and seasonal fruit in clouding , strawberry, blueberry and kiwi fruit. Both very nice meals and great to taste something different. I hope next year will be of the same standard. Staff as food is always intermittent. But this year all girls were good who served us. Even apologising and wiping up the coffee spilt in transit to the table. This has not alway been the case. I wish you well, and we look forward to the next meal.More

After a big day on the track our group needed a drink. We started with happy hour outside watching the sunset and our wait person was lovely with a great sense of humour. Food as tasty and they serve generous portions. I recommend the seafood...and fish options. In the mornings they do a decent coffee and the best cheese scones. Great cafe !More
