Steffi, Max & all of the team here at The Alumchine would like to welcome you all into our new restaurant based at Neyland Yacht Club on the Promenade in Neyland. It was traditionally a members club, but last April, we changed this to make it welcome to all of the public! From here we opened ‘The Alumchine’. We specialise in Italian, fish & steak dishes. All cooked fresh to order by our head chef Fabrizio & his team. Here, we have panoramic views of the River Cleddau, with plenty of boating & yachting to enjoy. Also, from April – October every year we have a floating pontoon which can be used by everyone. Here at The Alumchine we have our own stone based pizza oven, where we make our own fresh…
Food was delicious and portions were pretty big. My partner had fish and chips and I ordered the tuscan kebab. It was delicious but was quite a faff trying to get the meat and vegetables off the kebab skewer itself as it was danling above...the plate on a metal contraption. We booked in advance and were the only table there for about 30mins until other guests started to arrive. One thing I'd like to point out is that in an empty restaurant, guests can hear comments a lot clearer including what our waiter was shouting to the chefs. It wasn't anything bad that was said but it's something to be aware of as were were sat in the conservatory close to the water and the kitchen is the other end of the building. My parter also suggested that the option of mushy peas with his fish and chips would have been nice.More
Having read several reviews online, we decided to book a table. We arrived on time at 7.15pm and were shown quickly to our table. Our drinks order was taken shortly after we'd sat, but we had to wait a while before someone returned to take...our food order. The time was now approximately 7.40pm.
We decided to only order main courses as we'd read that portions are quite large. However, we waited for over an hour for the main courses to arrive, and when I was just about to say something, they turned up. I'd say the restaurant was fairly busy, but to my mind there seemed to be enough staff to cope with the numbers.
When the meals arrived there wasn't any sort of apology from the waiting staff for the time it had taken to prepare the meals, almost as if the amount of time we'd waited was normal and therefore an apology not deemed necessary.
We were also disappointed with the quality of our meals. I'd chosen a seafood fettucine, which actually arrived as tagliatelli. Not too big a deal I hear you say, pasta is pasta right? Well, yes, but for me futtucine is just that little bit easier to eat and one of the reasons I'd chosen it. Plus the amount of chilli in the dish was somewhat overpowering and the squid had been so overcooked it was extremely rubbery and inedible.
In fact all four meals weren't great. My daughter's lasagne seemed not to have more than one sheet if lasagne in it and was therefore not really layered, my son's steak was so tough, fatty and chewy that it was very difficult to eat, and although the fish itself was ok, the batter on my wife's battered fish was doughy.
None of us completed our respective meals. Normally I would have given the staff some feedback at the time, and I feel bad for not doing so, but owing to the length of time everything had taken and the general demeanour of the staff, I didn't feel inclined to say anything so we just paid and left.
Sadly, based on our experience, (and despite other more positive reviews), I'm not able to recommend this restaurant.More
We visited as a group of 3 girls for afternoon tea. The food was nice but we were surprised that it didn't actually come with a pot of tea, so we had to request this and pay extra.
Staff were nice and the atmosphere was...lovely. It's a great setting and we would definitely re-visit.More
5 of us were booked into the dog friendly Alumchine for dinner, the team were really attentive and trying to please at every step
We were told Portions were large and this proved to be true.
All meals were well received the steaks in particular...getting lots of mmms.
Being on the banks of the Cleddau we hope the choice of fish/ seafood dishes will increase, but the sharing platter looked superb.
All in all a super supper and well worth trying and we'll be coming back soonish.More
The food was fabulous, we had pizzas, kebabs and lasagne. The restaurant was extremely busy, we did have to wait a while but it was worth it! Great views watching the boats while we were waiting. The restaurant was a little difficult to get hold...of to book a table whilst on holiday but the staff were very friendly and we would definitely return next time we visit Pembrokeshire.More
A wonderful meal tonight, all of us enjoyed, plenty of staff contributed to the excellent service, we had, pizza, steak, Gammon, kebab, curry & lasagne, 4 of us had puddings which were lovely . We will definitely be back…. As long as we can get...hold of someone to make a booking … that is my only complaintMore
We visited this lovely restaurant today for lunch……what a wonderful find!!!
Staff were very welcoming and accommodating and with glorious views out to sea.
The food was spectacular and we will most definitely return.
Upon arrival got created by a lovely waitress who was ver friendly and polite. Our order was taken very quickly and didn’t have long to wait before our delicious meals arrived, nothing was too much for the staff who obviously work under a lot of...pressure as the place was heaving. 10/10 highly recommend:)More
