We had a lovely lunch at The Maypole yesterday (24th Oct 21). Lovely home cooked food and brilliant service. We had pie and mash, and ham, egg and chips. The portions were generous and the food was delicious. I am a bit fussy when it...comes to deserts, and can’t stand things that come out of a packet. The Maypole serves a range of homemade deserts. I had the creme brûlée which was amazing. The deserts that we saw others having also looked great. We will definitely visit again when we are next in the area.More

Don’t go anywhere else. Just have the pie of the day. Cooked by the owner’s son. Magic. I have not paid the bill yet but I think the price will be fair. Wish it was closer to my house.

we come to this pub regular, we have never had any complaints, the staff are always tentative, but to take note, if you want fast food go to mcdonalds, if you want good food go to the maypole, and enjoy.

Looks Boring………but I had seen nice things said on trip advisor ! And as it was part of a break out from the dreadful food served at the warners hotel down the road I needed somewhere close by ! I booked on line and got...a reply within 30 mins ! I got my window seat 💺 which turned out to be a view of my own car and sat down in a very old fashioned Nothing special traditional pub that was half empty ! I felt very let down until the friendliest service serving fabulous food with a smile 😃 Some how meant I had a fantastic time ! Against all odds I really couldn’t believe it . the elf like staff who seemed to young and charming to be working full stop and The chef who produced an astounding meal which everyone enjoyed and commented on Really should be working in a far larger and swankier restaurant in chichester or the witterings and leave the gastro pub scene behind them ! Or anywhere closer to me ! When I left I realise it was chocka block full and my 6.30 pm booking was the only reason it was only at 50% . It’s not close but I will return for a sunday lunch and will take somebody who will enjoy the surprise as Much as I did !More

We came here for food having read positive reviews, and were glad we did. Very attentive and friendly staff greeted us, and there was a warm, relaxed vibe in there from the outset. The food was excellent, crab starter and roasted halloumi followed by their...vegan burger, which was very nice indeed. Very reasonably priced as well, at £48 for 2 us. Our dog, Billy, was also made to feel welcome, and as two loving dog owners, that was a nice touch. Highly recommend a meal here when visiting Hayling. Highly recommendedMore
