This was my second time there but that was my first time for dinner. I was with a friend of mine for a day out before Oslo goes into lockdown. We both had deer meet. The food was great but it could have been better...considering their price tag but other than that we had a great evening. I would recommend this place to others who is looking for a special day out.More

This is a beautiful place overlooking Oslo. The restaurant has good standard, and a tempting menu. Nice staff and good service. However, the sound level is unpleasant with a full restaurant. The outdoor seating is great in good weather.

After a beautiful walk up to the Ekebergrestauranten, me and my colleagues looked forward to a great meal. And people who ordered the entree were really happy with the mushroom soup and the ceviche, wich all was great. The problem was the main dishes: Most...ordered the monkfish wrapped in bacon, and they were all disappointed. The bacon was really not fried, so it was just a lot of half raw, sticky meat wrapped around the fish. Everybody left all of that on their plates. The fish was for some completely dry, whereas others got the experience of eating sushi like monkfish... The colleague who ordered the salmon, found this really boring and taste. I ordered the vegetarian leek terrine, but was very surprised to see that what they called “terrine” was simply a stack of green, leek chunks without anything keeping them together or giving them flavor. That being served with almost raw pieces of parsnips and some brownish kind of mashed veggies, did not make this the delicious meal I was hoping for. Don’t they know what a terrine is?? The desserts made up for some of it. The cheese plate was good, and also the chocolate desserts that some of us had. But with such disappointing main dishes, combined with the high prices paid for those, we are less likely to come back. I have been to the restaurant a couple of times earlier, and have them been more satisfied. However, one problem that’s a restaurant has, no matter what, is the acoustic and noise level. It’s just difficult to have a conversation across the table yes almost all noises are reflecting from the walls. As for Covid protection, the chairs were too close to each other so that the minimum required distance between the guests could not be maintained. I started out by saying that it is a beautiful place with a spectacular view. And it is. Some of the food is good as well. But the overall impression is not as you would expect from a place like this.More

expectations and salvations were high, since we went to the restaurant for the mussels and were extremely disappointed with them being over cooked and the curdled coconut milk. to top it all the accompanying pomme frites were horrorifyingly fried to evaporate any goodness or moisture....the view and company were gorgeous:-)).+!More

We have been having a lot of nice experiences with the indoor part of Ekebergrestauranten for very many times. So this wednesday we enjoyed a very nice afternoon on the beach and then found it as a good idea to try a meal at the...outdoor terrace of Ekebergrestauranten. What a disappointment. Everything went fast, and that was about all on the positive side. Water bottle came fast. Asked for ice cubes two times. Never came. Coke was delivered lukewarm. Complained, and then they actually HAD cold Coke, - why not get it right the first time? Moules frites arrived fast and was on par. Pizza; fast and below par. Elk burger - small piece of warm meat porridge delivered fast with boring potatoes, boring sauce and a few other ingredients that was not really exciting. My wife ordered Aperol Spritz, which was delivered in a wine glass. After mentioning it to the waiter, the manager came and started a discussion, because they had run out of the normal glasses and she considered the replacement a BETTER glass for the drink. We had to explain that regardless the quality of the glass, my wife liked the special feeling of the drink served in the correct type of glass. Should be needless to discuss, but then like a miracle they actually HAD the correct type of glass available. The manager was clearly not happy with losing the discussion about glass types. All of the accidents could potentially be caused by hard working pressure, but most of the other guests at that time were only drinking, and we saw several available tables. And the stuff they did manage, they managed fast. Due to Covid-19 and vacation near our home, we have been visiting several similar outdoor restaurants the last couple of weeks ( Son, Engelsviken, Fredrikstad), and to our surprise the place where we had highest expectations, really made the bottom on our ranking. So our recommendation, based on this visit, is to eat home and have only a drink with the view, which is the main attraction of Ekebergrestauranten. I give two tripadvisor dots this time, the first one for food and service, the second one for the view.More

Went to restaurant for an end of the year party for my school. Great setting, beautiful view. Looking forward to it because I have been in the park for 15 years but never stopped there to eat. Opening soup great...fennel/avocado. But when the vegetarian meal...arrived, it lacked any pizazz in look...very bland. It was a risotto with radishes and tiny potatoes. It was overcooked, bland (actually it had a slight taste of dishsoap) with radishes which were unclear as what they should be...raw, cooked, half-baked. The white fish alternative wasn't much either! I do understand when you are cooking for 100+ it can be a challenge but in Norway, to my knowledge, no one really has mastered great vegan or vegetarian meals...yet. But, unknowingly, my son that evening made risotto. Best I ever had...with parmesan, cream and fresh basil...always good to be home!More

I was here on Valentine's Day so I may not have had the typical experience. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The service was good but a bit slow. I'm not sure if this is intentional in Norwegian fine dining, but the...food was worth the wait. They also had a surprisingly good beer selection. The architecture was beautiful and you were able to look down on the city from the dining room. We had a 4 course meal and it was on the expensive side so I would recommend this for special occasions.More

Nice winterviews from the “berg” on lower Oslo. Sculptures paving the way to the upper hill restaurant. 3 to 6 courses surprise menu or a la cart. Scallop carpaccio very tasty as well as the Arctic char. Excellent (but not so cheap) wine list and...open interested service. Spicy cheese with béchamel as closing act. Surprisingly overwhelming. As it started to snow later on we dreamt of warm summer days with Nordic food overlooking this capital city. Good spot.More
