Ræst is the most authentic restaurant you can experience in the Faroe Islands. All based upon the traditional fermented faroese food. This is a small place, but very cozy in a little historic house in down town Tórshavn. You can't choose the meal, but have...More

Ræst defined as yet another flavor is making is big around the world. This restaurant helps you to get familiar with this unusual taste. Well-thought dishes and matching drinks. Good service and fantastic ambiance. Highly recommended if you are looking for something outside the box.

My wife and I included a stay in Tórshavn during an extended trip to celebrate 30 years of marriage. We really wanted to try the fermented food and this restaurant was highly recommended to us by a local person. We were not disappointed. The food...More

The fermented food is not strange to norwegians, it is easy to see that our history come from the same origin. Beautiful restaurant in a small, cosy house in the harbour. Waiter was funny, and knowledgable and presented the food with a smile. Traditional food...More

A while back, I found out about the traditional fermentation process "ræst", which lead to planning a trip to Faroe Islands. Having no sense of directions, I got a bit lost trying to walk to the restaurants - Torshavn has very complicated street design. Almost...More

I came to Faroe Islands with the purpose of discovering culture and this place has been the match: fermented lamb, pilot whale and Akvavit. Not something you'd find everywhere. The staff was well informed on every detail. All this for reasonable price

This is a great place, you are eating in a old house to keep the old Faroese theme going while you are eating real Faroese food. The food er fermented, so you want to come and eat here you have to tolerate strong smell, and...More
