If you're a Vegetarian or Vegan and require sustenance while in Averio, Musgo is a Must-Go! Miguel and Ana make this cozy little spot feel like you're dining in your own home, with their congenial hospitality and genuine attention to patrons' needs.
When you add on top of that that the food is always on point, there's no reason to pass this place up.
Great value for the size of portions and although I'm always tempted to try their "Prato do Dia" the Burgers are so irresistible that I keep going back to them.
5-Star service, all around!

25/6/22 - Very late Saturday dinner
We three middle aged pescatarian guys from London were touring Portugal and found booking anywhere in Coimbra difficult that day so chose to take a chance in Aveiro. We arrived quite late, checked in to Peter's and headed into the old town.
We wandered around the town a bit and I looked up TA.
We saw what was on offer and were not too impressed but the TA reviews of this Vegan place led us down a small alley off the main (but small) high 'street'.
As we are pescatarians and we were in a port in effect then fish would have been in order but the restaurants were closed and quite expensive. We decided to support the vegan/vegetarian cause by dining at a dedicated vegan restaurant. Having high mark reviews did help too!
The menu offered a lot but it was late (about 21:30) and we were worried they might close. On enquiring they said only the set menu/dish of the day, Prato do dia (€8.50) was on offer which we decided was better than nothing so took a table in the busy restaurant and resigned ourselves to having one of the pies each. We chose a plain bottle of white wine (Maria Mora €9) for two of us and a glass of red for one. We were toasting to the meal ahead by 21:43. We waited for our meal.
Other people arrived later than us to find the same situation. Diners who had finished started leaving.
By 22:00 our food came which turned out to be generous paupiette style baked pastry wrapped stuffed parcels drizzled with a brown jelly, on a bed of yellow rice and vegetables and salad next to the parcel. It was all piping hot and very tasty. The parcel was stuffed full of tasty vegetables. Their reputation was intact.
We finished as the restaurant was emptying out, with only a few later diners than us. We ordered the bill which came by at 22:55 at a very reasonable €37 which we paid by card rounding up with a cash tip.
We left the restaurant happy that they had served us late and the vegan experience was actually very good despite the limited choices at that time. They had obviously been busier earlier that Saturday and ran out of the other choices.
Come early if you want to get the full choices in this excellent restaurant of the beaten track.

Well, we were impressed by the simple yet delightfully written menu. We wanted a refreshing change from the pastries and dairy we'd eaten over the past few days.
We were not dissapointed. We were greeted by Sara the head chef who said they were closed but she could reserve us a table. We didn't realise how kind that was. When we returned back in 30 minutes time the whole place was full of people enjoying their food and looking at what they were eating we realised we were lucky to get a table.
We ordered the Indian dish and the ratatouille special as well as the bread and olives some of the best sourdough I've ever tasted.
The food is seasoned perfectly, and incredibly fresh. An absolute delicous combination of flavours. Great serving size humbly yet appetisingly displayed.
Even though we were suitably full we decided to get a dessert because we were so impressed with our food so far.
The apple pie was utterly delicous. Delicous pastry, gorgeous spicing from the cinnamon and not too sweet.
At this point I had to thank the chef. I expressed how delicous the meal was and she took time out to talk to me about recipes and our mutual love of food. She told me how much she appreciates her staff and the kitchen is very much on view. Having worked in catering this has the calmness of a japanese kitchen. Positively serene.
I wish I could work for Sara. What a great place and obvious love and care for food and customers.

Chef Sara welcomes guests and prepares delicious meals with great care in her cozy restaurant in the heart of Aveiro’s historic center. We needed gluten-free options for medical reasons — and she guided us through the menu and was very well informed. Loved the vegan cheese starter ( one portion is good for 2 people). We had the stuffed red peppers with rice and the portobello mushroom burger. Both were fantastic. The best vegan food restaurant in town.

What a wonderful, cozy and tasty place. We arrived and headed into the small hidden side street and escaped the buzz of the Aveiro city to dive into a little sweet spot for vegan food.
The atmosphere was calm and very relaxing and the service was a million dollars despite the restaurant being managed by 2 people. Food was amazing and we would recommend this place for sure to anyone visiting.

This vegan restaurant, in the centre of Aveiro, has become our favorite. I have been there several times, and the experience is always amazing.
From the super friendly and welcoming service, to the talented chef, who is extremely adaptable and prepares delicious dishes, even accepting special requests.
I brought non-vegetarian friends, and even they loved it!
The desserts are fantastic, and the atmosphere is calm and perfect to relax. Undoubtedly, the best Vegan restaurant in Aveiro!

Great little restaurant in a very quaint pretty alley. Call for reservations, they're crazy busy. Service is a little slow but staff is very nice. We had the blue burger, which is FABULOUS, and the eggplant smothered in (vegan) cheese, which was really tasty but too gooey for us. I think if the breaded the eggplant or grilled it and put a lot less cheese on it, it would be a perfect dish. But that's me, and it was still really tasty. Obviously the chef can really cook. The atmosphere was great, we had a lovely time. Thank you.

Good vegan restaurant. We took the burgers which was very good, we were just disappointed that the bread was cold and the accompanying chips are not homemade just like the breads, it is a shame. The children's menu is a plus, our two year olds 1/2 feasted.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and the waitress very pleasant.

This place has AMAZING food and the service was lovely. The menu options were good. I felt like there were many different types/flavors available. My wife loved the samosas and the caldo Verde. The "menu special" was a vegetarian lasagna. It was creamy and delicious. Maybe it was cashew cheese, but I'm not sure. I ordered the hamburger that they make at the restaurant and it was delicious. I commented on how good the lasagna looked and they brought me some, just to TRY. I will be back for sure!

Cozy space with terrace, hidden in a small street. Simply excellent service from the employees, who took great care in showing us the entire menu and the space, as it was our first visit. I was very surprised and I can without a doubt say that it was the best burger I've ever tried, 10/10. The biscuit cake for dessert was also quite tasty. Perfect quality price. Looking forward to returning! 🤩

Excellent. All very tasty, the cochhumelos as a starter are not to be missed. The delicious burgers and the one that looks like meat, you don't even notice it! I would prefer the sweet potatoes were in sticks, but still very delicious. The dessert is not the strong one but it is delicious too. Perfect quality-price.

This restaurant is hidden away on a small side street. The food was great and freshly cooked. The staff was friendly. and helpful with making selections. I was so happy to find this in a town with few vegetarian and vegan options.
