Visited with 2 young kids for dinner time. It's a simple looking restaurant above the harbour where the fishermen bring the boats in so it's an interesting and picturesque setting. There's a fridge cabinet with the catch of the day. We chose a giant sea bass which was grilled perfectly with a side salad and chips. Tables aren't fancy but you'd pay way more for exactly the same grilled fish and chips with fancy table wear.
Fresh tasty food, friendly staff, great setting.

This restaurant is part of the local harbor and located on top of a fish market. That's where they get their fresh fish every day. They grill the fish on a charcoal grill with garlic and parsley. It's very simple and very well done. Everyday they've got a different selection of fish, whatever comes out of the fishing boats. The prices vary, because they depend on the negotiations with the fishermen, but prices are always fair. For Example: 1 kg of Turbot (Pregado), a very fancy fish, was about 45 EUR. Dorado and Seabass are cheaper. The owners are very transparent and they would show you the fish and comment on the price before they chuck it on the grill. That's just to double check with you. The owners are honorable merchants and very (family) friendly people. The restaurant is a family business: The father is looking after the grill and the three boys are running the service. I think the mother is responsible for the cakes - but I am not sure. We will miss the restaurant a lot. I will not have as good a fish for a long time. Also will I miss the ice cold pint of Sagres (draft beer) to go along with it. You need to be early! Come at 12 and you will find your spot for sure. They close for the weekend, because that's when the fish market closes as well. We are a family of five (kids 9, 6, 4) and everybody liked the place.

We got recommendation for this restaurant from local instructor. We came in the busiest time and had to wait for table, but it was SO worth it. We ordered 2 different fish and prawns and it was very tasty. Every single staff there was very nice, talkative and apologizing for waiting time for table. You could say they love what they do. Not to mention that if you have table inside, you see through the glass downstairs where they receive all fresh fish from arriving boats.

I cannot evaluate the food and the service because I haven’t had the chance to eat.
We wanted to make a reservation but the lady told us that they do not make reservations and probably around 2.30 PM they have more availability.
Long story short, there was a queue of people waiting for a table when we arrived.
But that’s ok, maybe it’s because it’s so good...
While we were waiting for a free table we had enough time to observe some things:
- there was people who were just waiting to order, other people were waiting to be served and another to pay... basically everyone was waiting. There was just not enough staff.
- COVID-19 precautions were a bit... relaxed. The guy managing the grill simply wasn’t wearing a masks, despite being the one respond to pass the plates to the servers. We also haven’t found hand sanitizer around, like it’s usually seen in the entrance of restaurants.
We did not felt confident to wait there to eat.
Maybe it’s amazing, I don’t know.

Thank you for your review.
Firstly the hand sanitizer is on the wall on the left-hand side just in the doorway.
Secondly the griller doesn't have to wear a mask as the risk with covid is in contact with the clients and not the fish.
You obviously came at a busy time and due to the restrictions we only have one third of the tables which means that this year people are queueing for longer. This is the reason that we don't accept reservations during the summer.

My family and I visited late this afternoon for a very late lunch. This restaurant was on our list of places to eat, after reading the excellent reviews in Trip Advisor prior to our holiday to The Algarve.
We received a warm welcome from the owners, who proceeded to explain in detail all of the fish on the menu. We had a wonderful, fresh starter of octopus salad. We chose the fish we wanted for our mains from the fish counter inside, it was weighed and we were made aware of the price of each item. It was all grilled to perfection-we chose squid, stone fish (apparently this is called poor man’s lobster and sea bream). The fish was cooked beautifully and accompanied with either chips /potatoes and a tasty salad. We were delighted with our meal and can not recommend this restaurant highly enough. We also enjoyed well priced wine and beers.
A Sereja is a family owned establishment and it is clear how passionate they are about providing excellent service and food. The prices were clear and the owners were evidently eager to ensure we enjoyed our choices. There are other choices on the menu for those who may like something other than fish.
We’re so glad we visited during the first week of our holiday, as we’ll be most certainly be returning again before we return home. This restaurant is not to be missed! This is the best meal we’ve eaten out in a long time 🥰
I did take some photos but they don’t do the food justice !

Just before 2 pm on a weekday, we had a 20 minute wait for a table, 15 minute wait to get our order taken, and at least 15-20 minutes to get our food. No complaints about the food at all - very nicely grilled tuna and sea bass, with super thin crispy fries. The "salad" was a big bowl of sliced tomatoes and onions sprinkled with oregano.
My major complaint was the speed (or lack) of order taking. The person who seated us could only take our drink order; the person who put plates and silverware in front of us couldn't take our order, and the one who finally did was super friendly, but none of the order takers acted pressed for time, or worried about anyone's wait. If they would improve their speed or efficiency, more people could be served, and those that were, wouldn't have to wait around so much, looking around for someone to help them.

The tuna melted in our mouths. As English people, buying fish by weight is a struggle but the help of the proprietor was amazing. We chose tuna and it was truly the best we have ever tasted. The really cheap house wine was great. Olives to die for. Will be ordering dessert too. Come here for lunch when in Sagres. You won't regret it.

Unfortunately, the restaurant is only open during the day an closes at 18:00.
However, it is close to Sagres harbor and thus you really get a fresh fish catch of the day. Prices are lower than in other restaurants, many locals have been there. Stuff was very friendly.

We were planning to have lunch at a restaurant recommended in our Rick Steve’s Portugal guide but stumbled on Restaurante A Sereia while exploring the small port in Sagres. It is located above the fish auction Docapesca and we were intrigued by the enticing dishes we saw as we passed. The seafood is ultra fresh, perfectly cooked (grilled squid in our case), portions are generous (ours included a large salad and new potatoes), and service is attentive, prompt, and friendly. Prices are very reasonable.

We had lunch during a weekday. When we arrived (at around 13:00) all tables except 1 were full with guests. The location is inside the harbour, on a second floor (on top of the fish market), sitting outside facing the shore side (not the ocean). We were welcomed , seated and attended too by the very friendly English speaking owners (ex UK brothers).
The restaurant specialized mainly on grilled fresh fish of the catch of day as obtained from the local fishermen.
We had 2 serving of lightly grilled fresh red tuna fish fillets and one serving of Shrimps in olive oil garlic and wine, as well as mixed salad and french fries: All were well prepared, tasty and great! For desert we had the "mixed cake" which was very very good as well!
Free parking is available in the harbour area near the restaurant.
The service and friendship indicated by the waitress and by the Owners and staff, were really enjoyable.
The cost of the meal was reasonable.
We suggest arriving prior to 13:00, as other guests arriving after us had to wait for tables.
We highly recommend this restsurant!

We arrived in the afternoon with our 3 boys and were immediately met by one of the brothers who was so friendly and open we had no issues waiting for our table. After waiting a short time, only around 15 minutes we were sat at our table and we met the other 2 brothers. We picked our seafood from the excellent fresh selection, and it was bought to the table before cooking so we could see it. Very yummy selection !! After eating the meal, which was excellent in cooking and taste, we had the house desert which was also very nice. Throughout the whole experience the brothers we fantastic hosts, talking with our boys and joking and telling us about their background etc.. Definitely going to visit again !

We arrived at about 12 pm for a quick reconnaissance asking if it was ok just to have a drink in case we had got it completely wrong as there was only one other table occupied but any doubts were soon put to rest as all the tables quickly filled up with locals ( who ate inside ) and tourists who sat out on the large deck .
The large selection fish was displayed inside with a price per kilo , staff were on hand with a good knowledge of each species . All fish are cooked on the grill outside and served with salad and boiled potatoes .
The sun shone and the wine flowed , a perfect lunch.

We ended our Tuk Tuk tour with Rui here. We wanted a snack before watching the fish auction at 3:30. We had the octopus salad, some bread and a couple of beer. It hit the spot, sitting on the big buy balcony enjoying the sun. We finished just in-time to watch the fish auction from the glassed in balcony, looking down on the action. Fish are moved on a conveyer belt as mongers, restaurant buyers and wholesalers bid on the seafood presented.
You see a huge selection of bounty; lobster, crab, red snapper, octopus and eels, being bid on electronically. Quite fascinating and a rare opportunity, since most fish auctions are private. A reel treat.

Despite a queue waiting to be seated, the owners and staff were very friendly and attentive. You could not have fresher seafood as the restaurant is situated right next to the fishing harbour. Selection is done from the display of available fresh seafood, instead of from the menu. A great experience!

This is a fresh seafood restaurant, known more for its fare than ambience. While the food is good and service very good - just take care, in the sense that the restaurant is absolutely aware of the reviews it has received - and this aspect appears to have been built into its pricing. Nevertheless, worth a visit.
