Simple no frills menu w/ elegance & charm

This is exactly what it claims to be, a simple no frills menu in elegant & charming joint, in central Sagres, catering to a young beach bum crowd mainly, with a limited menu in a charmingly decorated place, with a confortable back patio. It apparently started as a laundry lounge, still working there, and grew over and around it. The service is good, informal as it is meant to be, and the impression is of adequate social distancing and a lot of potential for live music and similar attractions once the current pandemia is over. The menu is very simple, about 3 choices for entrees and even less for starters. But they are good portions, not spectacular, but enough. Burger is interesting, specially the "house sauce". The meat could be less done and the bun, toasted thankfully, was far from the best I have had, not being fresh or house made. I didn´t think much of the baked potato wedges, but that is a personal opinion. Poke bowls are big, and the chicken teriyaki one seemed good, with lots of apparently tender pieces of chicken. Drinks, in all combinations, are readily available and the whole is fairly and moderately priced. I was surprised to see it is rated #1 in Sagres on TA, which is a blend of good price/quality ratio and the fact that the clients are in the most social media age bracket of the area. But they do work hard for it, so they surely deserve it. They also seem to have a full day "kitchen", starting from breakfast onwards, until late at night. And parking, though not enormous, is right in front and easy. Highly recommended and an excellent choice for a meal in this touristy town.

Every time we are in the Algarve we visit this nice and comfy place, very relaxed and kind people: friendly service attracts friendly guests. We always feel welcome and although we don’t need to do our laundry we always enjoy the nice meals at breakfast, lunch and diner time. Thanks Laundry Lounge!!!

Cute little cafe with great concept and outdoor space

I visited the Laundry Lounge twice during my solo stay in Sagres. Staff are excellent and very friendly. International team so English and other languages are spoken. Great interior design, very spacious and cosy. Great breakfast and lunch menu. Breakfast is served until 12pm. They also have a cocktail menu, and are open late. I believe until 10pm. Concept is laundry and food which works really well, as it’s always busy. They also offer yoga at 9am and 6pm on their roof terrace. They’ve got an outdoor area for laundry drying and with extra seating. Food wise I had the chicken burrito once and it was absolutely delicious as well as the Açai bowl on my second visit which was equally yummy. See pictures :-) You can also buy some local crafts/jewellery in the shop. Only “criticism” - I didn’t particularly enjoy the coffee I had ; it was a bit “runny/watery”.

Good food and friendly but still mediocre service

We went to to the place twice (lunch and breakfast). In general the food was good. However, especially the portion size for the breakfast meals was really small. If you're hungry I do not recommend going there for breakfast or be prepared to pay for two meals per person. Further, even though the place was not very busy both times the staff was not really attentive. It took quite long for them to even notice us. Most times we decided to head to the counter ourselves.

'Insta' worthy but dissapointment in real life.

I went there twice in a week. First time I ate the curry and it was just tasteless. It was heavily under seasoned and the rice was watery. At the start they also didn't deliver any menus and just came and upsell you the most expensive cocktail of the menu. When paying the bill I saw other people also heavily seasoning their bland curry. So I wasn't just me at all. 2nd time I went back for a performance that night. I took the chickpea salad. The idea of the salad was serving 'raw chickpeas'. you can be creative but that was just not edible. Wasn't also mentioned that they were still raw. Chickpeas have to soak for a longer time than that. That wasn't enjoyable. The people who took the curry at my table had the same problem as I had earlier that week. The ceviche on the other hand was really nice though. When charging the bill they were double items on the bill etc. They did take of the chickpea salad which was a kind thing to do. I don't often write reviews. But after eating twice in a week in a venue, being a cook myself, I think a little bit of feedback is appropriate. Especially when we were a group of nearly 20 people, and not many people were satisfied. Its not only about the vibe in a concept. Delivering quality is a key point as well. Good luck.

Great food and clean clothes

When they say the lounge is in the laundry that’s the truth. How many great restaurants can you eat superior food and wash your clothes, although I didn't see the laundry being used during our breakfast. My honey and I ate breakfast and enjoyed their vegan pancakes with fruit and coconut and waffles with apples and honey. Yum Yum! Nothing else to say, except the staff was friendly, attentive and quick.

Relaxed Sagres

This place perfectly captures Sagres vibe: relaxed and cool. From the music to the decor and the friendly service, everything is an invitation to extend your stay and just sit back and relax. The food is great too: we tried the breakfast and lunch menus on two separate visits and always left impressed with the overall quality. Highly recommend for a different experience.

Disrespectful

Tried to order a burger from the lunch menu but we were told it is not possible, initially we were told it is ok but overturned by someone then 10 min later a burger passes us by on a plate :) the explanation was that it was for the staff. Not very cool and and very disrespectful. This is not the way an establishment should treat and discriminate its clients vs staff.

Wonderful meal right before the Sagres sunset

We came to Sagres for the day, primarily to watch the sunset but we got more than we bargained for with this great find! The restaurant decor is really modern, with a fantastic chilled atmosphere inside. The menu range was great for us as vegeterians with ample options. We both went for the burrito having seen other reviews raving about it, and we weren't disappointed! The wrap was packed full with no space left to spare with a fresh, tasty combination of ingredients and beautifully seasoned wedges! Value for money was great for what we got, and the service from our waiter was also excellent throughout! Would without doubt recommend this places to anybody visiting Sagres, just for the day or longer!

Cozy little spot to hangout. We could wash our laundry and dry them in the backyard. It was also possible to charge our phones. They have many delicious vegetarian and also vegan options, sadly we wasn't able to try all of them. The owner and staff are very friendly and ready to help whenever they can and it was no problem to come in with my dog. There is also the possibility of doing yoga in the morning. When I visit Sagres again I will for sure come back to this bar!

Plant based heaven (don’t be put off by the laundry)!

I was a little concerned by the restaurant/laundry dynamic but intrigue got the best of me and we ended up having an awesome dinner! As vegetarians it was great to have a wide selection of food available to us. I had a tofu poke bowl and it was so fresh and packed full of flavours, I absolutely loved it! Service was laid back as was the vibe inside the restaurant. I needn’t have worried about the laundry aspect, we didn’t even notice the washing machines which I presume were towards the back of the space. Laundry Lounge is a great little set up serving quality food!

Chill out and relax

Chill out and relax, you can do so at different times of day at the Laundry Lounge! We had the best coffee in Sagres in their garden in the morning. We also had dinner which we really enjoyed a lot. The staff is very friendly and set a laid back atmosphere. They will recommend certain dishes and drinks to your taste. While the menu doesn’t offer a lot of choices (which we think is a good thing, better do a few things right than a lot of things wrong) there will be something for everyone to enjoy. What we had was great, and we regret that we didn’t try the sushi! Don’t expect traditional Portugese food, but Asian influences. Oh, and opening times are not always the same as google will tell you ;)

I'd never had a Poke Bowl until today, and if they're all like the one I just had for lunch here, I probably won't order one again. The ingredients were fresh and it all looked pretty enough, the problem was the dish was dry and, worse than that, lacking in taste. Why wasn't it served with a sauce or dressing to help bring some harmony and taste to the dish? Only the surfing Gods know. Give me my sushi undeconstructed next time please. Everything else about this place was excellent. Service, while a little chaotic (first day of the summer season I believe) was friendly and attentive. Decor and general atmosphere inside cool and outdoor eating area one of the best in Sagres.

Nice find - great Sushi!

We visited The Laundry Lounge from reading the TA recommendations. A former double fronted butchers with the original tiles – this place was very nicely thought out and simply decorated. They serve freshly made sushi on Thursday, Friday and Saturday’s and it was very good – so good we ordered another. Really nice idea with washing machines to one side and outside areas front and back. They serve cocktails, breakfast, panini’s at lunch and if your so inclined yoga on the roof terrace! Great find and will be back.

This is a terrific place. You can get vegetarian food in Portugal, but getting good stuff can be challenging. Our expectations were pretty low for a small town quite literally at the end of the world. The food was great! Not very many selections but all of them were worthwhile. The servers are amazingly friendly, while keeping up a great standard of service. And the lounge is wonderfully relaxed. People do the laundry, bring their kids, hang out. We ended up eating all our meals there. No need to go anywhere else.
