Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

I had known Portuguese cuisine for a few years through my then Portuguese girlfriend, and when the relationship ended I was looking for Portuguese cuisine, mainly because of the nostalgia for the chicken piri piri and superbock beer, because when I discovered that I was immediately, partly because I also like to cook and enjoy an excellent first-class beer. How funny is my surprise that 1 acquaintance suggested to the owner to open this business under the motto of I would like to create 1 piece of Portugal in Zaandam and that people can eat and drink well and enjoy what we have to offer in terms of food and lifestyle My heart skipped a beat that she had realized it, and I could and can taste or eat that divine food almost every week. Man man, how delicious, you really feel like you are in Portugal in terms of atmosphere, service and food, nice and cozy and relaxing, I have been there countless times since it opened and I always take new people there for all kinds of things. to enjoy and experience. Do you see their faces the first time, and you know, you can always ask for the food to be adjusted slightly, for example extra piri piri, or a little longer on the grill, and it will be arranged for you. So in short, I am a happy guest and my stomach is always super satisfied... keep it up and you have already made a lot of people happy and I am sure that many more will follow...

After completing the Dam Tot Dam Loop, I went to dinner here with my mother. The food was really delicious (I had a Tournedos and my mother the Schenkel and beforehand some tapas dishes), the service smooth and welcoming and within half an hour all the tables were occupied, so it was a good thing we had booked. As a beer lover you don't have much choice, but Portugal is of course more of the wine, I get that too. Top night, definitely again next year!

No notifications saying they don’t accept credit cards when I go to pay they ask me 21,55 € for a half chicken and salad and one draft beer. At that time I was with 20 euros cash I talk to the lady looking to be the owner and I ask if was possible to pay the 1.5 euros next time ?? She reply I can’t do that because if all do a same I loose a fortune hahahahaha Conclusion people with any comercial skills opening a restaurant just because probably are job less and no protocols rudes bad service waiting a lot service non standard like in a (mediocre coffee shop) The worst I was running to a atm to get some money to pay the pity 1.55 euros and they took 10 minutes to get the change after many try’s ( probably they don’t know to calculate ) Pity to see a creepy place running so bad and at not no minimum friendly To avoid at all the food was average I don’t see the cooker probably don’t know what’s happening on his back Unprofessional ladies doing a scaring service forget all basic service Was my bad lucky day

Beautiful simple Portuguese restaurant just across the river Zaan, 4 minutes or so from the centre of Zaandam. After starters of melon and parma ham we all had fish which was excellently prepared and served - some of the best fish we have eaten. Good wine in a carafe and good coffee. Lovely surroundings in a small family restaurant. Highly recommended.

Although the few tables in the restaurant was not too full on a Friday night, it took quite some time before one of the the waitressess got to our table. After an hour, we finally got our starters (some olives and bread), immediately followed by the main course. We ordered a whole chicken piri piri, however, we only got one drum stick and one wing. The beef tail was also cold upon arrival (we did not send it back as it would be well done if reheated). The patas bravas however were absolutely fantastic. Again, it took a lot time for the one waitress (the other one disappeared) to come to our table, clear it, and prepare our dessert order. From entering to paying the bill, it took about 4 hours. Finally, we realized the entire restaurant staff comprised of four people, and the other waitress went into the kitchen to cook. All in all, a cozy little restaurant in a living-room setting, but faster and better restaurants are also available in the area.

Quant little restaurant but was was extremely happy with it. The waitress was so polite and helped us with the translations of the menu. We ordered bread with herbs and asked to put garlic on it and it was one of the best garlic breads I've ever had. Chicken was amazing! Love how it's chopped up smaller:) Would recommend!!

The starters were mouth watering good and when you think that something can't get better than that, you are absolutely wrong! We went for the specialty -chicken with piri piri (which was very special, nice soft chicken, perfectly salted and not to much piri piri sauce) and the salmon with batata brava (wedges) and salad. Everything was super nice, no complaints at all except from the Caipirinha.. But hey it is not a cocktail-bar, so I was not expecting that much from it. We will definitely come back and recommend this to all the good foodlovers!!

While visiting Amsterdam and Zaandam recently, friends took us to Casa Piri Piri for Portuguese food, which I know very well and love. Your restaurant provided us with an excellent meal, very friendly service and a great atmosphere. I will tell friends here in the USA about our experience and recommend it to those that I know are traveling to the NL. Thank you for a great evening!

After reading the great reviews we went to try it. Friendly staff, very welcoming. I got the Gambas Piri Piri, the server told us it would be spicy and I was excited to hear that but they were actually very plain, not much flavor and definitely not spicy. The patatas bravas were good and the chicken was good. Overall an okay restaurant. Not on my top list but ok.

A quaint little family restaurant. Literally. The whole family is involved in the restaurant and 'Mamma' is the cook. The meals are cooked with love and care and you can actually taste that! Good food at a very reasonable price. The Portugese wines were good too. The staff are all very friendly, it almost felt like we were eating at this family's house. Worth a visit.
