Fantastic Burgers, vegan and non-vegans, lovely staff!

This was a total surprise, a simple restaurant in an insignificant location....we were blown away by the vegan options, fries were delicious and the beef burgers juicy as they should be. The staff is very friendly and attentive - it was a perfect meal.

Great burgers and atmosphere

defo recommend this place for just a few drinks or a nice bite to eat! staff were so kind and spoke amazing english!! would come here again for the hospitality and great food :)

Hip, cute place, delicious meat!

Delicious meat! Lovely service and great drinks. Location is ok, view on another restaurant. But the vibe of Cartel is cute, laid back and hip. A recommendation for the best burger in Zaandam!

Lovely friendly place to eat

Me and my partner both thoroughly enjoyed the food here, you could tell it was good fresh produce, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful (our waiter helped translate the menu to English also) the atmosphere was lovely and I really liked the choice of music, quite a quirky little place that I would definitely visit again :)

Great night out!

My college a capella group of 12 was on spring break in Amsterdam and I was in charge of finding a place for the night that we all go out to dinner. While doing my internet research I discovered this place and it was perfect for what we needed. We have 3 vegans, 3 vegetarians, one very picky eater and 2 with tree-nut allergies and ALL were extremely satisfied with the options that the menu offered. The service was great and our waiter was very sweet to translate the menu into English for us as we are not Dutch-speaking. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great too- there was fun music and lighting as well as a selection of board games to play. There was a nice selection of cocktails/beer/wine as well and the food was overall very affordable. I would highly recommend this place and would gladly go back if I ever return to Amsterdam!

Wonderful food experience

I decided to visit Amsterdam to celebrate my birthday on December. I booked an hotel’s room in Zaandam together with my sister. We arrived late on evening and the receptionist suggested us some places to have dinner. We opted for Burger Cartel, not far and easy to reach. We found this little and nice place easily, it was empty with all tables in order inside. We met Dévon: a nice guy, Burger Cartel’s front-man/owner. The dinner time was expired, only drinks available for customers but he was really kind and showed us the menu with all great tasty express burgers. We had the opportunity to be alone and look he in action, we felt his love and passion for the cooking process, his style and technique is great like his attention for the selection of organic and high quality ingredients. We really enjoyed our meal, he’s a talented gourmet with a deep food experience. Our plates returned completely clean, no need to wash them ;D The design of the local is precious and with a good care of details, I loved the balance with white always present, the brand, optimization of spaces and the table’s and menu’s style as objects. The big blackboard fixed on the top show all you can choose to eat/drink. Yes because you can enjoy also awesome Dévon’s drinks. I did it for my birthday, he customized us a classic cocktail and the result was really interesting also beautiful to see. We really liked him also as person, his warm passion, the energy he puts and freshness behind all culinary compositions. He’s gentle and with huge heart, he shared with us some tips and advice about Amsterdam (best attractions, typical restaurants, touristic places and more). Thank you so much my friend, I hope you can realize your dream and let your activity grows together with your skills. Clean place, tasty products, delicious drinks, nice people, I come from Italy to discover it...what are you waiting for?

Awesome vegan options, not only the burgers but also the starters (vegan fried fish bites and onion rings). Even their vegan mayo is very good. Highly recommended.

funky little burger house

Funky little place... Small inside but great friendly service. I was alone and the staff made me feel very welcome indeed. Even chatted about what I had been up to during my visit to Zaandam. I ordered hot chocolate and a bacon cheeseburger with fries. It was fab. Really enjoyed this little place.. funky music.. a lot of cocktails on the menu along with beers and wines. I ate early (around 5pm) so did not soak up the evening atmosphere but I would imagine that ambience is very cool in the evenings. Great little place... recommend a visit for some decent food at a decent price!!

So glad I found this place, it was a real gem. Perfect place to find some nice tasty food in Zaandam - perfect chips and really delicious burgers. The service is fantastic and the owners are really friendly.

Excellent Burger place and suprising cocktails

Had dinner in this newly opened burger bar and I can only say: Amazing Fantastic organic burgers that were very tasty. They come with local made fries and of course "zaanse" mayo. Upon request they added ketchup. The meat is seasoned to perfection and from a local farm I had the classic burger with extra cheese and my wife the "enenace" (pineapple) burger. Our friends choose the vegetarian "weed" burger made of seaweed. We hardly could finish as the burgers are large! and together with the fries a big meal. Staff was very firendly and helpful in any way. The beer (on draft) was from a local micro brewery and very tasteful but hey, they do serve cocktails too!! They do virgin cocktails as well as the real deal cocktails, both delicious and very surprising. They surely do want to stand out and come with not your common cocktails but have combination you would not expect but hey, who cares, they taste delicious. We had a lovely evening sitting outside and enjoyed the lovely burgers and drinks. I will definitely come back and a big thank you to Devon and Mick (owners). Please keep this up to levels as you have it now.
