Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

素敵な雰囲気のレストラン、子どもメニューあり(サプライズアイス付き)、接客、料理の質、コストバリュー高い! I visited this restaurant with my family. I worried if it is not suitable restaurant with two children (7&9 years old), but I received a message that the restaurant has children menu when I made the reservation. We did not see children menu price but children selected ‘spareribs’ from a list what waitress explained to them. We are asked to have breads, hams and olives since we only ordered main menus. Again we did not hear and saw the price. This dish was great and big enough for our sterters. My husband and I selected sliptons and Bavette for our main menu. Those are one of the best I had in the Netherlands! After main menu, children had a surprise ice cream. It is a simple one but enough to make them happy. In the end, I wondered how is the total amount of our dining. Positive surprise! Really great value if we consider such a special and great place, nice service and a quality of food!! I really want to come back to this restaurant.

I went to this beautiful building dating from 1532 to find a very welcoming bar on the ground floor with a restaurant on the floor above. The bar was cosy and the service excellent. We had some snacks including prawns in garlic oil, very similar to prawn pil pil, amazing quality in the fantastic Surroundings of this old building right on the water front. A must visit if in Hoorn.

We had a wonderful experience: very nice atmosphere and unique location, kind personnel and excellent menu. We asked if it was possible to choose dinner menu at lunchtime and they were so kind to make us happy. Excellent starters, carpaccio and tartare, then tournedos and duck perfectly cooked and tasty, good wine selection. Highly recommended.

After a nice walk in the pittoresk harbor of Hoorn we treated ourselves with a traditional onion soup while seated outside on the terrace. It was a delicious onion soup, which contained not only onions, cheese and some bread, but also some beef meat. Very delicious soup. Very quick and friendly service.

We managed to get a table during a busy weekend which was really lucky. The setting is the ancient tower in the old port area which is stunning. Climbing the narrow winding staircase to the restaurant was brilliant and the circular seating area is not a letdown! The menu is somewhat small but variety is great. The staff helped with understanding the Dutch menu and ordering for gluten free which is no issue! I had the steak which was perfectly cooked and delicious.

Wonderful spot . Great atmosphere, great food. Loved the fancy drinks lemonprosecco, duck, scoppino for dessert, staff great. My husband had crepe Suzette, which had the sauce made at the table. It was on the second floor of a tower, and you have to be able to climb the narrow staircase. The washroom was on the street level.

An excellent restaurant in the historic setting of a fortified castle. Very refined cuisine and generous dishes. Impeccable service and even in French (Quebec). We ate fish which was really excellent. Very good value for money.

Great food, great atmosphere, waitress very kind, we loved the building. Both the confit de canard and the fish were cooked to perfection.

Hoorn, charming old city on the IJsselmeer, a mere 45 minutes from Amsterdam by train, boasts quite a few restaurants that you would never find in Amsterdam. De Hoofdtoren is one of them. OK, you need to climb some medieval stairs to get to the dining room, but once you're there the view of the lake is worth it. We had pancakes - excellent and not expensive - and a tasty fish soup with bread. Friendly service. A place to remember. Close by, one can visit the yacht used by Henry Hudson to sail to America. Eventually he set foot on Manhattan and gave the Hudson River its name. Recommended.

We visited this place for drinks and a bite. It wasn’t busy at all and we had to wait 20 minutes for 2 simple drinks. A coke & ice tea. Then we ordered nacho’s and they were a nightmare. Nacho’s are supposed to be natural nacho chips. They served artificial flavoured super salty dorrito’s. Apart from the terrible taste they looked like they been thrown together and microwaved. This place is a beautiful location but the food and service are a total disappointment.

The “Main Tower” was erected in 1532 from Gobertanger limestone and brick, though in 1614 the tower lost its defensive function. The tower is named after the adjoining wooden jetty (built in 1464) for commercial ships. Hoorn is a city of more than 350 national monuments and is the third monument city in North Holland after Amsterdam and Haarlem. The restaurant is on the first floor, up a spiral staircase – it has plenty of character but I thought the restaurant and the toilet need refurbishing / smartening up a quite bit.

This was one of those surprises that make you realize how often prejudice can hold you back from a nice experience. The tower being such a landmark (read: tourist attraction) I thought I should skip it. However, appetite and curiosity and my love for 'the old' drove me up stairs where to my surprise I entered a very pleasant round room decorated in historic style without being tacky. The welcome was enthusiastic and the service all in all would prove to be excellent. At a table near the narrow window (where once soldiers guarded the city) I oversaw what has been the South Sea. With a little imagination one could see the sails of the Golden Age bobbing on the waves. The food was excellent (I recommend the Lamb neck) as was the wine. Although this restaurant is set up for a special occasion it's relaxed enough for just an evening off. When in Hoorn, enjoy it.
