I ate with my father in this restaurant which is really out of the ordinary. The dishes are beautiful, good and balanced. The products are fresh and the preparation is really great. We took the three-course surprise menu, replacing the dessert with a second starter (+€5 which is announced on the menu). It's well worth it! The service is pleasant, present without disturbing. Space to be the tables, in summary, a very nice evening thanks to a very nice table!

Little resturant not looking like much from outside close by the main train station in hoorn but when you come in gets better, got nice round table by window, was not very busy, menu is interesting so decided for chefs suprise 4 course menu for 41 euro, can choose from 3 to six courses. And that was a excellent choice. Starter was a tuna sashimi in maki roll with a green asparagus on top and on the side a grilled shrimp a nice combination with a lot of taste. Then came a nice seabass fillet with a scalop and white asparagus in a delicous soupy sauce. Main was a soft like butter beef fillet, on top was a duck liver which i do not like and some greens, quite big portion but full of taste. Classy dessert with mango fruit bites and ice cream. Nice south african white along. Great service with precise explanations.

A great dinner in a small quite empty resturant. Has a sharing concept so started off with the oyster and tuna which both very superbly presented, with spicy taste. Then moved onward with more classicaly chinese dish dim sung, 4 different ones, very well prepared and some simple but well grilled pork, then came the monkfish in garlic and noodles and ended with cremee brulee with green tea ice cream a clasical dessert with a nice twist. Good sauvignon blanc from chile along for drinks, for a total of 95 euro for two persons.

Place is really beautiful, I loved the ambiance. But I do agree with most of the comments on here that food is exorbitantly expensive for the value. We ordered the duck, it is served like traditional Peking duck but does not taste anywhere close to a traditional Peking duck. It is too salty. Also, the server is supposed to make the first roll to show diners how to prepare it. But she just dropped it off. I’m pretty sure 100% of the westerners who dined there have no idea how to properly wrap a Peking duck. She just dropped off the wrap and sides, and the wrap is too dry like paper and breaks so easily. I can understand though that if you don’t previously know about it, you will think the world of it. But I’ve been to this little restaurant in SF that served the same dish, it is an authentic Chinese restaurant, and their Peking duck is a common favorite of the dignitaries of the Chinese embassy and their chef has even served the Chinese president. I also tried their clay pot pork and I was sorely disappointed. For a “Michelin Star” restaurant, the presentation was subpar. The pot was dirty. I can understand this presentation if the restaurant sells itself as a rugged outdoor street restaurant in Peking, but they’re marketing is upscale and of course, I would like to expect upscale fine presentation on something as menial as pork clay pot. Also, I sort of expected it would be presented as a cube like a traditional Dong Po Rou, but it was all sliced up and sauce smeared all over the pot. Fortunately, my husband enjoyed his lobster roll, it was pretty enough. And also his tom kah and Thai kip dish. Altogether, it was an average experience. Quite disappointing because I was looking forward to that dinner literally all day!!! We didn’t bother to order desert. I do have to give a big thumbs up to their service staff. Excellent from the moment you walk through the door till you walk out.

One of my favourite places in the region. The food is always of great quality, the wines are incredible and the service and attention is very good. Definately a place I can recommend.

Never disappointed, never bad food: just very tasty food! The man of the house is owner Robin Wu. Just be sure he's in the house. His feeling for service and a perfect evening out is inspiring. Maybe I am not the person to write this essay :-). I'm already for many years on the guestlist, but never disappointed. that's specials, isn't it?

One of the very few decent restaurants in Hoorn, the Netherlands. This Asian Restaurant combines dishes from different asian countries and manages to create a menu of harmony. The restaurant is part of a hotel and the location is a bit boring, but the atmosphere within the restaurant is great.

Went here with my girlfriend and had a fantastic time finishing our 4 course surprise menu, accompanied with 4 very good wines. It was a little bit more special than other 'Western' cuisine. Wines were a very good match with the courses. Reason for the 4x is that the intern (?) was a little bit unexperienced and made some small mistakes. But overall, absolutely recommended!

This is the place to visit in Hoorn if you like fusion cooking. They can even serve a nice wine with every dish if you want. Both food and wines are excellent. Service with a smile. We visit this restaurant on a regular basis. Well worth visiting.

Service was good, the food was nice and the atmosphere was the best. It was calm with no loud noise on background, totally relaxing. I have only been once, so i will be a better judge the second time round.

I gave this restaurant 3 stars even though for the most part the food was good, because it was very expensive for what it was and ultimately did not deliver. We visited during a "pop up" period where they were hosting chef Geoffrey von Melick, for 3 weeks to showcase his food. Despite his amazing CV (Fat Duck etc) the food was surprisingly bland and every dish - despite the expensive ingredients- was miscalculated in some way. Despite being offered a tasting menu and assured that the portions were tiny, we ended being charged a la carte. They adjusted the bill slightly, but it was still very expensive especially as we had no wine. This restaurant has a good reputation for Oriental food, which is ultimately why we went there in the first place, but we were disappointed and felt "stung" by the bill, so will not visit again.

This was not our first time with Madame Cheung. The service and the sphere was very good. We had the chefs menu. Everybody liked the food and the wine that accompanied the menu. We were very happy with a round table, so we could interact. Somewhere lese it can be noisy, but here it was ok, despite the full restaurant.

Madame Cheung offers the best of both worlds.Nicely balanced dishes of asian specialties with a european twist or the other way around and always accompanied by a good glas of wine ( one of the best winelists in town!) The service is friendly and attentive.
