Great atmosphere, staff and most importantly food!

The atmosphere is very cozy and engaging. As you are seated you feel relaxed and the staff help with this more relaxed approach. The food quantity is great and the portions are generous. We had Carpaccio and vetelo tartufo for starters and they were very tasty and good portions. Main was ribs excellent and prawns good. Dessert creame brûlée and Dame Blanche portions were generous and tasty. In in all great experience and a must in Hoorn.

Best spareribs in town

We visited John's Bistro last weekend after a long day traveling in the region. It was a busy evening due to the fair in town and lots of restaurants were fully booked. Luckily there was a table available at this restaurant and to our pleasure the spareribs were delicious: very tender and juicy. Staff was very friendly as well. Will come back for some more spareribs!

Don't miss lunch here

This cosy family owned and run bistro was truly a delightful lunch stop. Its even worth a detour to enjoy both an excellent meal and hospitable engagement from the small team. They offered us both the traditional lunch menu and the dinner and specials menu. The four of us had different things and every choice was wonderful. After lunch the owner-chef even revealed the secret of his smoked salmon (hand prepared on the premises) and provided the recipe - how cool is that!?!? They have only just started doing lunch after successfully providing an evening menu that is pretty booked up. So get in now while the gettings good - you won't regret it.

Dinner was great! Nice cozy restaurant and fantastic meal. We ordered calf in two variations and lemon chicken on a spike. All was very delicious, good portions too. I definitely recommend the place 😉

Good food good ambience

We had dinner here on the recommendation of a local. The restaurant is well managed, both professional and friendly. The interior is dark but not gloomy. We always opt for fish when in Holland and here had a delicious dorade at a reasonable price.

Excellent steak, service and venue

First time in Hoorn and what a great restaurant. John (chef) cooks amazing steak done to perfection and a really good small shrimp starter. Service and staff are very friending and very attentive. Cannot wait for the return visit.

Amazing Food

Had a business dinner and was totally impressed. Very good food and some of the best service we had in the Netherlands. Had the sampler appetiser and the sampler main course - was a great way to try multiple dishes!! Highly recommend.

Cozy and tasty!

John's bistro is a cozy atmospheric bistro. When we entered we were warmly welcomed by the staff and chef's in the open kitchen. We started with carpaccio and salmon beforehand. Especially the carpaccio was delicious. Then both a stuffed pork tenderloin with fries, well filled with brie and ham. We had a great meal here for a nice price. In short, highly recommended for a pleasant evening with good food!

Great place to eat a nice meal. We were a group of 6 people and everyone was very pleased with the quality of the meat, very tender. John's Bistro. What can you say about it? A few key words: Very hospitable, very good/nice service/very high and good quality food. Owner and Chef always present for a nice chat. In short: John's Bistro is highly recommended. You are in good hands. Located on the Kleine Noord, within walking distance of Hoorn station. Very good parking nearby.
