Restaurant Wissenkerke-Sloterdijk is a cafe, bar and restaurant near Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station at Radarweg 236. 33 years ago we opened our doors with the intention to make good food en serve great beers. That's why we serve, next to different kinds of draft beers, special brewed typically dutch beers from small Breweries. We were staying nearby on a city break, and ate here on our last night. Food was excellent, and there was a great selection of local and imported craft beers (plenty of other drinks too). The Host, was excellent, really took the time to speak to us, and listen to what we wanted. The decor and atmosphere are excellent and i reall enjoyed it. We went as a family with youngest at 14.
Thanks to the owner for the bottle opener too.

My sister and I went there first evening for dinner because the guy from the hotel recommended and it was really very close. OMG!!!! So delicious. I had the dorada and my sister had the salmon and both dishes were cooked to perfection. Then, the first evening we got complimentary desserts - delicious cheesecake. It really sounded very attractive to me that they have wine from Moldavia, that few people know, but they have excellent wine. Tonight we went for a second time for dinner and every single dish was AWESOME. So delicious. These guys put their soul in the food. Martyn , who brought us the food, but he doesn’t look to me like a waiter, more like a captain of an old ship and Ramon gave great, efficient service. I can’t say enough good things about this place. I will go tomorrow for lunch, just one more time before flying home

What a wonderful place...an oasis of calm!!!
Located in a quite corner behind (& beneath) the Mecure Hotel, this restaurant is certainly worth a visit. A truly relaxing (and stylish) environment with friendly, attentive staff.
The owner (Dick) made us (family with two young children) extremely welcome and was happy to answer all our questions about The Netherlands and its culture. His advice to visit Haarlem proved perfect!
We only planned to have dinner at Wissenkerke on our first night, but enjoyed the atmosphere so much that we returned for dessert and drinks the following two evenings. The Carpaccio Salad was delicious.

We visited here on a Friday night. There was a party atmosphere with a large group in the bar area but we were seated in the restaurant which wasn’t too busy. Waiting staff were friendly. I ordered the brisket. The mash potato was completely cold in the middle as if it had been microwaved. It was also very lumpy. Cold, lumpy potatoes is not good. Then I found a black, coarse, short hair in my dinner. I alerted the waitress to this who apologised to me. We didn’t want to cause a fuss, we just wanted to leave as it turned my stomach! It cost over €60 for two mains, one starter, two drinks and the additional hair which we didn’t order. My partner had carbonara, the pasta was very chewy. Worst food we had on our 5 day trip! We checked reviews from trip advisor and Google before visiting, it was highly recommended and we were staying in the hotel but we were left incredibly disappointed.

We had a little difficulty finding this, partly because it's down some steps, round the back of a building and partly because I struggle with Google maps!! Basically it's at the back of the Mercure Hotel.
However, we were warmly welcomed and had a lovely meal, perfectly cooked and very tasty. Although there were only two choices of dessert, these were obviously 'home made' - a bit of rarity in all but the most expensive restaurants these days1
A lovely relaxed restaurant that we would have returned to if we hadn't found it on our last night!

Simple place in the mercure hotel, minus 1 floor.
Good for drinks and simple food, the spicy burger was quite good, tasty, meaty but still good combi and good fit to eat with hands. Fries along. Do not need more than that.

So good we came back a second time! Great food and friendly staff. We enjoyed two wonderful dinners and drinks. Would definetly recommend Wissenkerke Café & Restaurant to anyone in the vicinity.

Nice food and very friendly staff. We came with a large group of students and felt very welcome. We phoned in advance, and the chef helped plan a selection of dishes for us, so the evening went smooth.

Okay - so what a hidden gem! Elegant in its own way, comfortable and relaxed. Food was superb and in my view great value for money. We had salmon ( catch of the day ) with vegetables and frites that were just excellent. It has set a new bar for me in terms of restaurants in this area.
Friendly staff with a clearly understood service attitude. Very nice setting in a quiet courtyard of a hotel complex close to a main station.
I will be back and I will bring my family and friends.

Great food, great people running the restaurant, great atmosphere what is there to add.
Staying nearby and Wissenkerke saved the day at the end of long days exploring Amsterdam. If you are in the area and looking for a great place to eat heed here.

I arrived early in the morning. Kitchen not yet open. Still could order humus. Coffee was very tasty. Humus was more than delicious. Service was very pleasant. Came back for lunch with two other people. Ordered risotto, chicken sandwhich and BLT. We all enjoyed our food. It was 12 years ago when i last visited. Nice to see top quality and excellent service after allthis time.. Prices are normal. Menu is great

Great restaurant. Arriving without a booking we were welcomed with a smile and offered fabulous table by the window. Ordered the tuscan chicken and classic burger. Both meals were beautifully cooked. Waitress was very friendly, answered all my husband's questions and happily took our photo when we left. Very reasonable price too. Would definitely recommend if you are staying in a hotel nearby. Thank you.

A very friendly and professional welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience - the food was good and we had an interesting bottle of red wine from Moldova.
We would certainly go again if we are in the area and recommend the restaurant to others.
