Cute and cozy restaurant, amazing food, personable staff. We walked in without a reservation on a Tuesday evening at opening time for dinner (17:30) and were able to be accommodated despite many tables showing 'reserved' signs. The food was absolutely delicious - we ordered the eggplant bruschetta, spaghetti Bolognese, porcini sauce flat noodle, and creme brulee. Would recommend to others and will be taking guests here when they visit (would recommend a reservation as the tables were almost completely full when we were leaving). Luca and Salvatore (servers) were great!

We arrived somewhat early (6:15) on a sat night and snagged a table without reservations, but soon after they were turning people away. Though it seemed they were more flexible if willing to eat outside.
Unlike some others' comments, our food came very quickly and overall it was a great dining experience. Prices were on part for the area without breaking the bank (about 30CHF for pasta) plus more for meat added on.
We enjoyed and appreciated the hospitality!

Just happened upon this restaurant in the Niederdorf area. We were able to squeeze in without a reservation on a Thursday evening (reservation recommended). The atmosphere is cozy with a true European flair, the wait staff extremely helpful and efficient. Appreciate that their English was better than my German, so it was easy to converse and get ideas on what to order. Each course was superb from the Caesar salad to the Tagliatelle with truffle cream sauce (we added the chicken) to the best cheese cake I have EVER had. Selection of wines by glass is very good and I enjoyed a glass of Pinot Grigio. If in Zurich, it is a must!

I have travelled to Switzerland many times,of all which is pleasant experience except for this restaurant.This is the worst service experience that I encounter in Switzerland.I was even being scolded and blamed for the customer that sat next to my table that walked out after seeing the menu.The actual reason they walked out is because they were looking for Italian pizza which this "Italian restaurant" do not have.It has totally nothing to do with me having a chat with them, as it was difficult for them to even sit down.I had to move or stand up to "allow" them into their seats. (just ridiculously tight seating space)
Food and drinks:After visiting so many restaurants in Switzerland,this is the first time I am being charged for drinking tap water (4 CHF)!This is not an authentic Italian restaurant.Their so called homemade pasta feels more like noodles and tasteless,not at all close to the overrated reviews here.
The seating area in this restaurant is very cramped.They sandwich their customers even though their restaurant still have many empty tables. They claimed it is reserved. But you will see them shifting the reserved sign frequently.You basically are sharing the table with the person next to you as their table are less than 5 inches away from yours.There is also no place to hang your jacket.You will need to hang your jacket on the chair.When the waiters are serving or passing by,they will be kicking your jacket with their dirty shoes. If you are wearing nice fur jacket or bringing branded luxury bag,I strongly advised you not to come here.Their waiters will dirty or ruin your jacket in no time and bag will have to be put on the floor.
Maybe that's why the restaurant has not much customers.Don't waste your time and money here! There are many others good restaurants in a stone throw away.
I belief the owner of this restaurant may not be able to take my comments as they were furious when the customer walked out of their shop.They are so negative to think that we were the ones who made the customer next to us go away !They should take the customers’s reviews and comments in a more positive way and be customer friendly.

The food was pretty decent, other than the prawns which were quite overcooked mush. We didn't eat them, and let the server know we liked the food fine other than the prawns and would like them removed from the bill.
The owner came out and was arrogant, if not downright insulting. He insisted that no one had ever complained about the prawns before. He said this at least four times. It very much seemed he was insinuating that we were lying in order to get $12 off our $250 bill. He told us he had many Asian people dine there and never had complaints. Not exactly sure what he meant by that...His chest was quite puffed out by this point.
Hey guy, learn some humility and maybe take a class on how to treat a customer. I can see by your mocking replies to other displeased guests that you don't take criticism very well...

We had dinner at La Pasta and the food quality was average but prices are too high for the quality that you get. Also we could tell that the server was a little frustrated or tired and was very short with us. I guess that’s what is expected when you eat at a touristy places.

We arrived at 9:30 for a late dinner, worried that we would be holding up staff who might be hoping to close up as the restaurant was set to close at 10. Instead the host greeted us warmly and showed us to a lovely table where we were attended to splendidly by a number of waitstaff offering an array of exceptionally tasty, freshly prepared foods including four immediate refills of large jars of ice cubes to satisfy our (decidedly American) demand for ice cold water during the current heat wave. Special kudos to Elena our main server who was always there on the spot with whatever we needed (more ice water!) and offers of more of anything else. She was charming and made our dinner easy and delightful. Raves for the homemade tagliatelle with lemon sauce and zucchini, the bruschetta with avocado and burrata and the custom pinsas (flatbread pizzas). Lastly, the location, just off the main road in Old Town along the River makes La Pasta a great find for a family dinner and a fabulous evening walk after.

First let me start by saying Luca was our Hostess and server and he was great very nice and attentive and was extremely quick. We loved him. Also I want to give thanks to I believe he was either the hostess or the owner or the manager but we didn't have reservations and he was able to accommodate us. And last the food oh my goodness!! if you're considering this place please do it because this is by far the best lasagna I've ever had it was hot... it was flavorful.. my goodness.. it was so good we also went back again during our vacation and I got the pesto pasta I believe with chicken and wow!!! I would highly recommend this place everything from the atmosphere to the service to the food and it's easy to find in a great area. It is reasonably priced.

We saw good reviews and decided to give it a try. It was early (5:45) so we walked over to see if there was a table. We weren't even through the door when a guy threw his hand in the air like we were storming the castle shouting "STOP, we'll be with you when we can." Okayyyyy. They acted shocked we didn't have a reservation but we were seated quickly and pleasantly, however we were told we had a time limit. Whatever. Our service was pleasant and prompt and there were no issues other than being amused by the servers in tight black t-shirts and needlessly intense attitudes. They have the door roped off so when I went inside to use the restroom it was like passport control. In the end, all of this was just funny and was nothing compared to the food. We both had the penne in spicy red sauce, one with meatballs and the other chicken - both were delicious. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the sauce was excellent and the meatballs were great. We had the house red Tuscana which was lovely. All of the other dishes coming out looked equally appetizing. Would recommend despite the needless dramatics, it's delicious.

We were only in Zurich for one night and stumbled across La Pasta as it was close to our hotel. The owner (Marco) explained that as we arrived after 9pm, he'd happily serve us but we had to be quick as the kitchen closed at 10pm. We asked for recommendations and they were fabulous; carpaccio for starter, spaghetti ragu with burrata and all washed down with a lovely Marchese Antinori. We'll see you again in early April Marco!!

Had dinner here on a Monday night. We both had the pasta bolognese and it was excellent. The service was ok but not extraordinary My issue is that we were asked after we ordered if we wanted "mozzarella cheese" on our pasta qnd we both said yes, thinking it was included and shredded. I noticed other tables had bread, which we were not offered. We each got a serving of cold mozzarella on top of the pasta in a very small block. We were upcharged 12 chf in the bill. I was also asked directly for the first time in four days if I wanted to leave a tip. I dont like being nickeled and dimed

It must have escaped your attention that the bufalo mozzarella has a surcharge of 6.- francs.
This is declared on the menu card.
Tipping is voluntary in Switzerland. The credit card terminal automatically asks if you want to leave a tip.
We always point out that you can skip this step.
Despite the misunderstanding, we would be happy th serve you again.

The host was able to squeeze us in on a Saturday night even though we did not have reservations and recommended a perfect wine for our meal. We dined outdoors and experienced all the music and street performers from a just-right distance at this restaurant in Central Zurich near old town. My partner loved the grilled octopus, and my spaghetti with seafood of the house was excellent. We were so tired and hungry from our flight from the U.S., and this was the perfect respite, the perfect first meal in Switzerland. <3

To my immense good fortune, we were able to enjoy the exquisite cuisine of the Italian restaurant "La Pasta" in Zurich last night. Chef Alfonso Di Filippo enchanted our palates with his extraordinarily tasty plates and owner Marco Stefano with his obliging hospitality. We can highly recommend this place to all lovers of Italian cuisine.

The food is good, the ambiance is not, but it is outrageous they charged tap water for CHF 2.00/glass since they want you to order their exorbitant drinks. we're not in desert camp. Better go to Santa Lucia Restaurant, best food, better ambiance, friendly employees, and they don't rush you, and tap water is free.

The half-liter carafe costs 2.— and not the glass. According to the recently published daily newspaper, we are actually in the cheapest area for Zurich conditions. We are sorry that our service was poorly received by you. But as we all know, you can't please everyone.

Have chosen this restaurant based on trip advisor reviews as we are first time in Zurich. What an excellent choice ! The food is soooooo testy, like literally we want to visit this restaurant again and recommend to our friends. The staff is friendly and very helpful, it’s just feels like a family running restaurant.
Does it worth of money ? Yes, it does !
If you want to have a guarantee for a nice tasty meal - go to La Pasta !
