We did not have a reservation but managed to get one of the 4 tables outside. It seemed incredibly quiet inside. We started with some poppadums which came with sauces. They were very crisp and tasty. I had the chicken curry and my husband had the chicken bhuna. He was particularly impressed with the bhuna. We had rice and naan which were both fine. The curry arrives with a burner underneath to keep it hot. There was a large portion of rice. Service was good and efficient. Decent value for expensive Grindelwald.

So the place could use a bit of modernization in its facilities and the speed of service suffered somewhat from perhaps missing a person, but what amazing food! The menu is extensive, offering what one would expect from a non-vegetarian Indian restaurant, and so there is something for everyone. And our everyone had food that was well-prepared and perfectly spiced. This included a succulent lamb saag (tender lamb cubes with spinach), veggie samosas, dal soup, curry chicken and an excellent plain naan. The ingredients certainly tasted as if they were excellent quality and the preparation was right on point (slow, but ultimately worth the wait!). As noted, the service was slowed down by perhaps the absence of an additional person or two. Yet the service was warm and (when it was your turn) able. As noted, the food was definitely worth the wait!

This will be a long review, but it’s worth it! This evening, for the first time I tried out the newly opened Golden India restaurant in Sursee. It is a somewhat special location because the restaurant is actually in an old abandoned train wagon. Due to time constraints I decided to do take away and to not sit down. I ordered a couple of dishes and wondered how it will turn out. The reason why I decided to give it a go this evening was because in the afternoon I called the restaurant (on the website it said it would be opening soon) to find out when it will in fact be fully operating. I learnt thar it is already opened since a couple of days. I learnt this because although I did not leave a message a nice gentleman called me back from his mobile and asked me if he could help me and and I said that I was wondering when they will be opening, then he explained that they already opened, and proceeded to welcome me as a guest in the near future. This gentleman was so nice and friendly that I immediately thought I will give it a go this evening – and boy am I happy I did! I ordered the following dishes: Chicken soup Cheese Naan Bread Basket (Roti, Naan, Garlic Naan) Peshwara Naan (with coconut, dried fruit and nuts; a rare kind of naan and already impressed me that they have it!) Paneer Pakora (battered fried Indian Cheese) Palak Paneer (Indian cheese and spinach) Aloo Palak (spinach potato curry) Aloo Gobi (potato cauliflower curry) Tandoori Tiger Prawns Butter Chicken (you just have to! I mean…!) It all came with tons of rice All the dishes were exceptional. This is fine (I want to say Royal) Indian cuisine at its best and I really hope they will be around for a long time and I’m already looking forward to having more of the dishes. I am half Indian and I have had my faur share of Indian food all over the world and this truly is one of the best- and that in little Sursee!! The staff was also very friendly they help me carry everything to the car they offered me mango lassi (they picked up that I have two boys, so they actually gave me two!!) and even one of the chefs ran after us to the car and provided us with more sauce for the butter chicken. Initially when I ordered (I went in an hour before as I was nearby anyway) they even offered delivery because it was so much, which however I didn’t need, because I would be returning to collect it, again because I had errands to take care of nearby anyway. Thank you Golden India, we will be coming back soon.

Naan was excellent, Curry Chicken was very flavourful but with too much oil. Rice was good but could be cooked more. Weighters serve dishes holding plate with finger in the middle of empty plate and serve rice with finger touching rice. Pretty disgusting for COVID times. I ate there twice because I have to close my eyes to the cleanliness given food in town is not good at all. This was best place we found in terms of flavour. A trip to the toilets just confirmed it felt like a bit very clean place. I sat inside first time and it’s all dark so hard to sense cleanliness. Second time I sat outside where I could see better. They could do a much better job in cleanliness…

We have just had dinner at this restaurant and after a few visits which were hit and miss we were very pleased with our meal at this visit. The staff were atentive, friendly and the food was very, very good. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening compared to many restaurants in Grindelwald who charge the earth for poor food and service. This was a very pleasant meal. Look forward to returning.

On a very busy saturdayevening, with almost every restaurant in town booked solid, we ended up having dinner at Golden India. I had not expected to find good Indian food in Switzerland, but the food was fantastic! The service was very nice too. I would definitely go back, this was one of the best indian restaurants I’ve ever been. The flavours are amazing. Don’t worry if you do not like spicy-ask for spice if you want.

My brother in law and I made a reservation here after an afternoon of hiking. It wasn't busy and we were seated at a table for 4. After receiving our drinks what appeared to be the owner was chatting with our waiter in Arabic and pointed at us like we did something wrong. We were then moved to a small table for 2. Not a huge deal but we were annoyed that a couple walked in moments later and were seated at the table we just left. We tried some samosas and something else which were good but not noteworthy. I ordered the lamb vindaloo and my brother had Dal Tadka or something similar. We shared entrees and had naan too. The meal itself was tasty. It was good to have Indian food to help break up the rotation of alpine cheese, raclette, fondue, rosti, etc. The prices are on the higher side for similar restaurants elsewhere in the world but we're talking about Switzerland and I knew this going in. Value for the money is the only thing holding Golden India back from a 5 star review. The convenience of having a good Indian restaurant in a Swiss mountain town offsets this, however. Nonetheless it was a good experience and we would likely return.

We drove from Zug to Grindelwald, an almost two hour journey, with the sole purpose of dining at Golden India. And we didn’t regret it one bit. Attentive service (thank you Filton and Donald), authentic Indian recipes with succulent meats and paneer, made with age old traditional recipes from the annals of grandma’s kitchens. instantly teleported us back to our homeland. Ambience isn’t much to write home about. It’s rather drab. But hey, who cares about decor and ambience when the other senses (aromatic fragrances of rare spices, delicate textures of the food, and delectable mouth watering tastes) were overloaded. Bravo team Golden India!

Impressed. Didn't expect to find such a good Indian restaurant in a Swiss touristic area. Switzerland doesn't really do good Indian food - until now! I've eaten at Indian restaurants around the World (India included) and never found a place that makes every dish to such a high standard. Pakora to Nan, Lamb Madras to Garlic fish to Chicken Sag - all amazing! 10/10 and highly recommend for diners who enjoy flavour.

We had a really great dinner at Golden India in Grindelwald & this was for sure, the best Indian food we have ever had at a ski resort. It was far better than the typical Indian food you get in England and so definitely worth visiting. The staff are really friendly and they serve good quality wine at decent prices. Peshwari naan was amazing! We ate out in Grindelwald for 6 nights and Golden India was definitely in our top 3 restaurants in the village.

We found the atmosphere of the place wonderful, a mixture of traditional and elegant. The food offer spans many areas of India and the menu provides explanations about what makes the different meals special or different. The staff is friendly and responsive, the portions abundant and delicious. Price in line with other good restaurants in the nearby.

If you are staying in Grindelwald, do not pass up the chance to experience the best authentic Indian cuisine in Europe. From the basics of Naan and Tikka Masala, to lesser known more exotic dishes, they do not disappoint. Portions are perfect for sharing and they are sure to assist in finding the best meal for you. Sad we are only visiting!

Last minute booking but they made us feel very welcome despite being busy. Excellent food, friendly service - absolutely delicious, both meat and vegetable dishes. Our only disappointment was that we couldn't eat everything - the portions are generous - and staying in a hotel, a doggy bag wasn't an option. The best Indian restaurant we've found in Switzerland. Try the bread basket!

Golden India in Grindelwald is a very good restaurant serving delicious Indian food. It is ideally located in the town center. The outdoor patio has excellent views of the Eiger. The best part of our visit was the friendliness of the owner, Mr. Mandeep. He made all his customers feel very welcome by giving everyone individual attention - very humble and jovial person. Even on a busy evening he was kind enough to give us a ride to our chalet since we didn't have a car and the local buses were done for the day. (We realized it too late!!) We couldn't get a taxi either and Mr. Mandeep came to our rescue. It's very difficult to find such large hearted and generous people nowadays!

We booked a table at Golden India before we arrived in Grindelwald and would recommend this as it got really busy around 7pm! The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The waiter recommended dishes for us to try as we both ordered the butter chicken but he recommend another dish to try and it was delicious. Would highly recommend!
