Visiting Florence from the UK for my Brother's Birthday, we had an Excellent Lunch at this lovely Family run Osteria, in the centre of the city. Well what can I say........ we were absolutely spoiled! We were encouraged to try many Tuscan specialities and also,...a few typical dishes from the Basilicata region of southern Italy, (I believe, the owners are originating from the Matera's province). At the end of the meal, not only I was given an hefty discount, but also a 50cl bottle of Extra Vergine Olive Oil to take home - Southern Hospitality at it's Best!More

We had dinner here, a group of 5 adults. For starters bruschetta that we shared, and five different main courses, that were all fresh, tasty, just super. Hostess was very busy but attentive. It is a small homey place. Lovely.

I tried this restaurant by chance at dinner and I can say it was a good experience. A beautiful night, a quiet street in the heart of the city (next to the Duomo), a small but friendly terrace, friendly people and very tasty food at...a good price/quality ratio!More

Just behind Firenze’s Duomo square, this little place offers a homey atmosphere and Tuscan specialties that really have a home cooking feel. Their pasta and fagioli (bean) soup is unmissable and if you like beef stew, the red wine based Peposa dell’ Impruneta will have...you ask for seconds. Best accompanied by a wonderful Tuscan red.More

Delicious food, great portion sizes, good prices. We were greeted by a friendly owner, who treated us to some limoncello after dinner. If we are in Florence again, we would definitely eat here again.

Simple tasty lunch of rissotto. Friendly staff and full of locals ( always a good sign). Good house wine and rasty cappuccino.

Stopped in her for a quick lunch while walking through historic Florence. The staff were friendly and the food was okay, Nothing special to say about this place other than the food came out hot and fairly quick.

We were looking forward to eating here again on our latest trip. The food is good and the atmosphere is wonderful and still was, but the attitude of the people running it (we assume it's a family operation) took the shine off. We booked in...the morning for that evening and when we arrived the place was full except for a free table for two which we assumed was ours. Instead, after some argy-bargy between an older woman (we assume she is the wife/mother) and someone we took to be the younger adult son, we were led into the bowels of the place past the toilets and cleaning gear to a very unappealing cellar. We were told this was our table. I protested saying we had booked a table upstairs and one was free and were tersely told this was our table. We refused and said we'd go elsewhere. This brought an abrupt change of heart and we were given the free table upstairs. we were "served" by a the young adult (who we took to be the son). He complained and whined "I don't know where people want to sit...who is coming, the queen, the president , I don't know." The food came and was fine. A young adult woman (again we took her to be the daughter) made some attempt to smooth things over. Meanwhile at the next table, a precocious small child who had been relentlessly fed past, promptly vomited everywhere and fell down in it. Fortunately we avoided the line of fire. There was a general Italian fuss, the kid was cleaned up and the mess mopped up by the kitchen hand. Now this last incident was an unfortunate thing beyond the control of the establishment, but there was never a word of "sorry for the inconvenience" from the owners. Look, the food and the atmosphere is great but the attitude is less than acceptable. If you do decide to dine here (and lets face it there's no shortage of fine dining in Florence) then best be absolutely clear when booking that you want a table upstairs and not down in the miserable cellar. I might add that we were the last diners to arrive and so just who that empty table for two was being kept for remains a mystery.More

We went for dinner here because it was close to our rental and we wanted to go to a less touristy place. We arrived and were seated by the waitress and then she sent over another man to take our order. He seemed annoyed to...even have to speak to us in English, and sighed and rolled his eyes while taking our order. We actually ordered sparkling water, but he sent over still water, and when he returned with our liter of wine, he actually placed it down in an aggressive manner that shook our table. Also, every table around us received a bread basket that spoke Italian and those who spoke English tended to be ignored. We enjoyed the food here, but we would not subject ourselves to such a hostile environment again. Florence has is a touristy town and this establishment needs to evolve if they want to continue to attract business.More

My family and I went to this restaurant on a recommendation from the owner of the apartment we are staying in. We were greeted by a lady and all seemed ok to start with until when seated, then an arrogant male server came over and...then it turned for the worse, he took our order and then we waited. Our drinks came (all soft drinks in bottles) we sat and waited for glasses (as other tables had them with ice), nothing... we asked if we could have glasses and we were ridiculed and told to use the wine glasses, we asked for a smaller glass for our son (10 year old) he then asked across the restaurant if he was a baby!! VERY RUDE! I wanted to walk out at this point, but my wife said to stay as we had already ordered. He brought a small glass over after we told him not to bother. Our food arrived and he did not even say a word, just put the plates in front of each person and walked off. After we were finished we waited ages with several attempts to get the bill, but he kept ignoring us, even when he was leaning on my wife’s chair to talk to other tables! He clearly does not like tourists and certainly not families, this is apparent from the reviews on here, which is ironic considering it is a family run business. We expected great things as the other restaurants in the area were lovely and friendly, if only this one was the same. Avoid if you are a family, go elsewhere!More

Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by

The historic center is characterized by the immensity
