Very good Restaurant just across the Panteon in Roma,( you can't miss the Panteon beautifull building is a must). Da Fortunato is a very nice restaurant with a long list of very well prepared dishes. The service is excellent. And the wine list is very...extensive, full of very good italian wines. I highly recommend this Restaurant very well located in RomeMore

It was a last minute decision to try here, initially we were put off by how quiet it was, but within 30 minutes the restaurant was full with all of the tables pre booked. We were right to risk it and probably had one of...the best steaks I have ever had. All 4 of us ordered the chateaubriand and when it arrived we had a whole fillet 😍 It was amazing. My wife is a coeliac so we have to be careful with ingredients but we’re pleased with all the small additions which made here fully included in the dining experience. Thank you - we had an amazing night!More

Another good, old time restaurant. Most dishes are very good. I”ve always enjoyed my meals there over the years. Worth a visit.

On the face of it, the wine bar should have been amazing. The huge selection of wines by the glass should be enough to entice oenophiles in. However, it’s let down by the disinterested sommelier and the disappointing quality of the wine.

The restaurant was recommended so expectations were high. It is a traditional well run established restaurant in a popular area. The service is efficient if uncharismatic. Special of the day was local lamb which I ordered insisting it was pink. I was told There were...no more lamb chops so they recommended Abacchio al Forno I agreed but stressed it was pink. It arrived in 3 large pieces covered in sauce over cooked, tough and mostly bone . I should have complained . They must have noted that it was largely uneaten but did not enquire. Disappointing for a restaurant that has a good reputation.More

As others have said, keep walking. I have never been made to feel so inferior in any restaurant anywhere in the world. It was a rainy afternoon and, having seen all the sights, we were looking forward to spending the rest of the day having...a long luncheon with copious amounts of wine. The waiters looked nice in their white jackets and the table linen was nice and fresh. That’s where the positive comments will end. We were shown to a table and offered nothing in the way of water or the ability to order a drink. Only the menus were given to us. The aloof sommelier looked at us but didn’t come to the table. I had to get up and go to his station to get the wine list. It is extensive and very expensive so he did me a favour by not waiting on me. We were further ignored for fifteen minutes by the rest of the staff then decided to walk out. We found another restaurant very close by and spent a lovely afternoon chatting to the owner and staff, spending lots of Euros and tipping the staff generously (I hope management and staff of Da Fortunato are reading this because you lost out BIG TIME). On reflection I owe the staff at Da Fortuna a big thank you. The menu didn’t look appealing, the wine list expensive and the staff rude. If you had served us, as is your job, we wouldn’t have left and found a great restaurant around the corner. Thank you!More

There are so many really good restaurants in the vicinity of the Pantheon that are much better than this one. We asked the hotel front desk for recommendations and wound up here on our first nite in Rome. What made the dinner very pleasant was...the Norwegian gentleman at the next table. We had a wonderful conversation about many topics from world travel to American politics! It was great. But the food was average and the winelist way too expensive. So, unless you can be assured of a Scandinavian table mate conversationalist I would avoidMore

I can accept everything but i'm sorry no cream in our carbonara! As for the cheese we put both pecorino and parmesan in our carbonara and honestly i don't know where you got the idea that carbonara has to be made with a fresh pasta...More

Nice location with views of the pantheon if you sit outside. We had the caccio e Pepe and Mushroom risotto. Plus a nice bottle of Prosecco. All very good. Ambience is warm and inviting. Server a little standoffish but pleasant enough. another great meal in...Rome.More

I’ve lived in Italy for 13 years and I know Italian food and my wife and I wanted to celebrate our 50 th wedding anniversary in style in Rome. We bought Rick Steeves book and found Ristorante Fortunato. We were a party of ten and...had excellent service. The antipasto was delicious, the filet mignon was superb and we were treated as distinguished customers. Rick Steeves book was Spot On, as we read beforehand and we knew what to expect. The staff personalized a menu for us with a fixed price and all the food was of the highest quality. The people who take their kids to a fine restaurant like this, should instead take their kids to McDonalds or Pizza Hut. We saw one review of a person who complaining the fish “was too fishy”. Do they stop and think how ridiculous that sounds!! Next vacation, they should stay home and go to the local Wal-Mart and eat their McDonalds hamburgers and fries. The people that write bad reviews have no business traveling to a foreign country and eat the local food. It is obvious they are used to American food, like McDonalds at Wal-Mart and when they complain, they show the Ugly American side.More
