About
The story begins in 1899, a stone's throw from Piazza Vittorio Emanuele where one of the large markets of the city is located. In the 1930s, Angelo Potetti bought the restaurant in turn. At the end of the 1950s he gave it to his daughter Ilde. Today Angelino still remains a place of typical Roman cuisine with experiences of contemporary Roman cuisine and has moved to via Capo d'Africa, a few meters from the Colosseum. Eating with us still remains an authentic Roman experience.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Enjoyed a really good meal here on an outside table. Very friendly and attentive staff, and a good, albeit minimal menu offering. Food was obviously being cooked fresh as a result though. Whilst we ate outside, the decor of the inside of the restaurant showed...its class, without prices being unreasonable. The only downside was that there was demolition work ongoing with the building immediately opposite, which spoiled the setting a little.More

The food was alright, but the service was poor. I was reviewing the receipt after eating and noticed an error on the restaurant’s behalf- they charged us for an extra glass of wine. When I pointed it out, the waiter told me to trust him...and that he only charged me for two glasses. I tried to explain that he was charging me for three, but he would not listen. They basically scammed us out of our money. Whether it is because we are American, or because they guy wanted some extra money, I cannot say, but I would avoid this restaurant if you want to ensure you don’t get overcharged.More

We had to eat something, before a concert and we poped - up without reservation. Have to say that in this area, you don't have much choice. They attract you with a big panel with cheap prices for the pizza. Of course, you have for...what you pay ! small pizzas, dry,.... no !More

My wife and I lived in Italy for three years when I worked at the U.S. Embassy in Rome and finally returned this past week after 23 years. During our 2nd day, we dined at the Osteria Angelino dal 1899, on Via Capo d”Africa, 6,...near the Coliseum, where my wife and I enjoyed the Rigatoni alla Gricia, the Spaghettoni alla Carbonara, the Abbacchio alla Scottadito which were absolutely delicious accompanied by a great bottle of red wine. We highly recommend this restaurant.More

Amazing food and service. The carbonara was out of this world and the antipasti too! The staff gave great suggestions, both food and drinks. Perfect after a visit to Coloseo!!

I was staying in Milan and wanted my first big bowl of pasta. I found this on TripAdvisor and made a reservation. It was a Tuesday night and not busy at all. I ordered a glass of wine and that came out promptly. The appetizer,...which was bruschetta, took 30 minutes and there were only 3 tables. After eating that, it took another 45 minutes to get my carbonara. The service was just incredibly slow and for no reason. The server was chatting it up with the other tables and hardly talked to me. Just not a great experience. Carbonara was delicious, just overall, a very underwhelming experience.More

The restaurant serves excellent food at very reasonable prices. The lamb was sensational. They provide a wonderful apple vinegar for the salad. We went there twice as we were sick of the usual tourist traps.

We turned up after our Colosseum tour, with one of our group not feeling great, that quickly turned into sunstroke. The team were amazing in firstly, getting us a table, then adjusting our order when 3 people had to leave quickly to get her back...to our accommodation. Then for those who stayed, a delicious meal of cacio e pepe and salad, plus wine. All with a smile, and no sense of inconvenience, especially from the male floor manager. Really meant a lot in a stressful situation!More

Several years ago we ate at a Roman restaurant that was absolutely wonderful, but since has closed. I’ve been looking for another one that was equal to it, and we found it. Our guide took us here as we wanted a good Red man restaurant...reasonably priced . It’s very clean, service is great, location was pretty close to the forum in And Coliseum. Food was very tasty. The atmosphere was nice and the decorations were interesting, with lots of silverware posted.More

I went in Osteria Angelino dal 1899 with a group of friends for dinner and the atmosphere was amazing!!! The place is very cozy and the waiters were very friendly and polite! The food was incredibly delicious. We ate some typical Roman dishes like carciofi...alla romana, cacio e pepe and pollo alla cacciatora. Highly recommended!!! P.S. the location is central, very close to Colosseo!More
