Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There is an outdoor area contained within weather proof plastic sheets, and there is an indoor area which is spotless and well designed for a “posh” meal.
The food was excellent, especially the steak. Waiter service was a bit intrusive, but friendly and it was no problem to ask for a long break between starters and mains.

We ate at Ambigu twice during our week on La Gomera & on both occasions it was absolutely first class. We enjoyed everything, from the stylish modern décor to the helpful & friendly staff. The food was terrific in very respect. I had the tuna on our first visit, while my partner had the fish of the day, which was fresh snapper. Both were fabulous, as were the desserts of cheese cake & the local milk pudding, 'Leche asada'. On our second visit, my partner raved about her cod, while my pork was sensational - you won't find a better dish on the island! We can thoroughly recommend Ambigu to anyone visiting Gomera. I can't wait to go back.

We were delighted with our meal here. The waiter was charming, attentive (while respecting privacy) and his recommendations were much appreciated. We enjoyed the first two courses so much he had to try a dessert (which we hardly ever do). We left very full and very satisfied, vowing to return one more time before our holiday ended. Our lunch was just as good.
Highly recommend the bbq fish of the day.

Having read the reviews we were keen to try this restaurant. However it was disappointing. The waiters here wear long aprons, so it feels like a fine dining experience. The starters were alright, but a bit rich. I ordered the grilled Tuna. When I was asked how I would like it I said well-done, because I do not like raw or rare fish. The waiter pursuaded me to have it 3/4 done, which I agreed to. Now I have been going to Spain and eating grilled Tuna for more than 18 years and know that it can be dry, but what they usually do is pour olive oil or pesto over it to make it moist. However this Tuna arrived well-done (not 3/4 done) and was so dry and hard it was difficult to cut it. The separate avocado puree and tomatoes made it quite sickly. The waiter didn't inform me that it came without potatoes, otherwise I would have ordered some papas arrugadas to counteract the richness. I could only manage to eat half of the Tuna, and I fail to understand why this ostentatious restaurant is unable to cook something that most chiringuitos can cook well.

Lunch started with a salad that was different and exciting. Main course of arroz caldosa now this was novel as the majority of Canarian restaurants insist it's for two persons. They did for one which was excellent, tasty and full of shellfish and tasty bits. Shared dessert great waiter can highly recommend this restaurant.

We arrived early because we were hungry, and thank goodness because he cheered up right away.
The menu is varied, I would especially highlight the pastas and rice dishes, the portions are generous. We ordered two starters to share and a main course for each of us (4 people), and three desserts to share and we ended up more than full.
The service is simply great, two waiters took turns serving us, and each one was more attentive and friendly, we were almost sorry to leave!
We didn't have to wait long for the food even though almost all the tables were occupied, and the price was nothing out of this world.
To repeat without a doubt.

This restaurant is probably one of the very few in La Gomera that could just about be described as fine dining. We were sitting outside in the square, the area protected by transparent covers.
The great thing for my husband was that they had some vegetarian dishes.
We started with a watercress and gofio soup. Gofio is a local flour, which in my opinion doesn’t do very much for the soup (or any dish) except thickens it. But with the beans and a slice of the local cheese it was quite palatable if a bit bland. I followed with delicious grilled tuna which was cooked perfectly and presented attractively with a vegetable garnish over avocado purée. My husband’s roasted peppers with tomatoes and cheese in a flavoursome sauce was also excellent and looked very colourful.
We had some very nice red wine by the glass, and some water to drink. The total bill was under EUR 50, great value. Service was professional yet friendly. Definitely recommend for a lovely meal properly served in a somewhat refined ambiance.

Lovely outside seating area in amongst the evening crowds. Excellent food and service. Highly recommend squid ink pasta filled with salmon mousse and a creamy mushroom sauce.

Probably the best restaurant where we ate during our stay in La Gomera. Exquisite food, impeccable service and great value for money. We had the gratin peppers stuffed with spinach and shrimp, the creamy rice with mushrooms and squid in their ink, and the pasta stuffed with salmon. And for dessert, roast milk that the waiter recommended to us. With bread and drinks, less than 55 euros (two people). Essential.

We have been coming to San Sebastian for 10 years this restaurant is now my number 1. Everyone enjoyed their food. The prawns for starters were amazing. If was all great - my pork with apple sauce takes a lot of beating. Make sure you book. Great Service.

After five dinners, we can state that all were a gastronomic experience. All with taste sensations we haven't had before. In addition, perfectly fried meat according to our wishes. Should we comment on anything, it is that the dishes came in too quickly one after the other.
Highly recommended for lovers of good food.

We were looking for places to dine when many places were already closing the kitchen and we were fortunate that my wife noticed the decoration of the Ambigú. Order the gomero bun, honeyed rice and sirloin. We loved the creative presentation and enjoyed the unusual flavor combinations.

This was our favourite restaurant in La Gomera.
I had the cheese balls and solomillo de ternera. It was excellent, and I really enjoyed the figs and fruit sauce. My partner had the Iberian pig feather fathom which he also really liked.
Lovely setting outside on a public plaza.
Excellent service from the two very friendly servers.
Highly recommend!

We were rather early in the restaurant, so it had enough space for us 4 people. The waiter was very nice and served us efficiently. The food was good. Too bad there were only two menus for vegetarians/vegans. Probably not in such demand on the island yet. All in all, the restaurant is recommended. Would go there again to eat.
