Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When we had thought we had found everything in Rouen, we got to this part of the city center and we had chosen this restaurant for dinner! We enjoyed it!

Well located near the very centre of Rouen. Nice food, decent wine list (Just be a bit careful, as some of the menu translations are done via Google Translate - or similar, and thus tend to be slightly wrong/"strange" !)

Been there tonight. Was okayish. The little waitress hardly spoke English neither did we speak French. The owner of the place did so and helped a lot but mixed up our order do we did not really get what we had ordered. Anyway, the food...was ok. Needs some more sparkle. You can see they want and try but it does not convincingly hits the aim. Nevertheless, all was fine and ok. It’s a good choice for a nice evening out in Rouen.More

Very disappointing. The food looked beautiful but had very little taste. Average at best after some spectacular meals in France

We arrived and had not reserved a table. We were offered a few tables to choose. We were given the menu. When the waiter realised we were English he brought over the English menu. They are promoting Slow Food Starters looked good and were tasty...The mains again looked good and were tasty until my partner found a hair in his potatoes. We were brought some sparkling wine as an apology. We carried on with dessert and had a great chocolate fondant.More

This place is called « the inn of St Maclou », and what a great inn this is! Dishes are simple but truly savory. The cuisine is quite applied and served by well selected products of high quality. The service is friendly and attentive, but...still could be improved. The setting is agreeable, the location ideal (in the old part of Rouen in the close proximity of the church of St Maclou (hence the name).More

Professional service from the moment we walked in. Attentive but discreet, positive and understanding. The food was excellent, had butternut squash soup and pork terrine for starters, beefsteak and duck parmentier for main, panna cotta and 'pain perdu' for dessert. Very good quality for the...money. Wine recommendation was perfect. Warm and welcoming atmosphere.More

Based on recommendations from our hotel and the TA reviews, we made reservations and enjoyed a wonderful and well-thought out meal. We let the staff know of food allergies (dairy) and they recommended a variety of foods that were possible. They substituted veggies for mashed...potatoes since the potatoes had daily in them. Our meal was locally procured and freshly prepared. We had a half bottle of reasonably priced wine that paired well with our meal. The staff spoke English and were able to answer any questions.More

The food here was great. We had the normandy beef, escargot starter (it was a sort of a pastry pie), and gnocchi starter. The quality to price was amazing for American standards. Both of the waiters spoke English and there were English menus. The atmosphere...was nice but average. We just walked in and they had 3 or 4 free tables but the rest were reserved.More

This restaurant is a bit more pricey than some of its competitors but the food is nothing special. The amuse bouche was a bit of red cabbage salad which did not work well with an aperitif. We had fish soup which was like no other. It...was not as full bodied or spicy as usual and contained some chunks of squash with a rather bitter skin. Rather bland. My husband had the guinea fowl in a seafood sauce which he didn't think worked at all. My calves kidneys were very nice and cooked perfectly so no complaints there. The wine was nice but dear for a carafe. It turned out to be the most expensive meal of our holiday but nowhere near the best. Furthermore the English translation of the menu had some serious errors which were hard to spot as we were not given a French menu as well.More

Tips concerning this restaurant. 1- Never go without a reservation , which I find reasonable as they treat their customers very well. 2 - Price is amazing and it’s very close to the cathederal so for the light show it comes in handy. 3- The...waiters joke a lot. Even though I could come off as tough but I could see he was shaking when he served us. But honestly the experience was great. 4 a Never leave without ordering a bottle of wine. It’s cost less and tastes better than what you will get on a jug. And was a little disappointed there no cider but it was on the menu. 5- The food was very , Home made and products gotten from the region. Opt for the Desert Pain Perdu you won’t regret it. Lastly Bon dégustation.More

I can see why this place divides opinion somewhat. It’s one of those places that is very confident in what it does in all ways. We loved it. Simple menu. Very Normandie. Great specials. Service in semi English. Popular place. Filled up quickly despite the...vast local competition. Food was excellent (see pictures). We were not budgeting which is just as well. Great wine menu. Lovely bottle of St Emilion. Sat outside but plenty of tables inside as well. We loved the attitude of the place, we were not in a hurry and we got it. Most people will. Definitely recommended.More

It wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t good. We’ve been eating way better food for far less money. I would recommend eating somewhere else. Seems to cater to British tastes. Vegetables slightly over cooked. Waiter was great. Wine was very good.
