Chef Yasuo Nanaumi's fusion restaurant in Paris is a must-visit. The French and Japanese menu is bursting with creativity and flavor, featuring standout dishes like yellowtail sashimi with yuzu/soy sauce and foie gras with beetroot tempura. The attentive and knowledgeable staff elevate the experience, offering personalized recommendations and wine pairings. The elegant decor and exceptional service make for an unforgettable gastronomic experience.

I feel like I am only going to echo other reviews, adding a few personal comments to commend Chef Yasuo on his menu and his son Ken for leading an exemplary customer service team. The intimate upstairs dining room was awash with plenty of daylight accented by overhead lighting. Ken sat us at a window table and then Paul came over to greet us and ask if we understood the concept and if we had any questions. We opted for the 5 courses and instead of wine pairing asked if a tea pairing would be appropriate with the menu. Paul said absolutely, so we left that with him to organise. Along with Paul, another member of staff, I believe Aran, ensured each course was cleared and next set with cutlery, as well as monitoring our tea and water. All courses were amazing but two were exceptional - the foie gras with sushi rice and a teriyaki sauce, and the lamb with Japanese pumpkin and cep mushrooms. Before dessert, we changed our mind and added a cheese course that was created table side by Paul, arranged to resemble flower petals on a small green salad and homemade (of course) biscuits and light dressing. Dessert was a spherical large ‘pebble’ of black sesame panna cotta and a black grape sorbet. Before leaving it was a pleasure to have a nice chat with Chef Yasuo at the pass and pass on our thanks and appreciation for providing us with a lovely Parisian lunch. Will definitely make a dinner reservation when next we visit from London.

Just wow. I don’t think this place has a Michelin star but it certainly should. The service is extraordinary. The wine pairing is way ahead of many Michelin restaurants I’ve been to, particularly the dessert pairing. The food is as it promises - Japanese French fusion. Each element explained to you by the staff. You are made to feel like a VIP from the moment you enter. The amuse bouche flavour was fantastic but the jelly cold texture for me was not very appealing. That was my only criticism. I think it’s very risky to go with that texture, some people love it and some people hate it. However if you hold it in your mouth and let the flavours melt, it’s actually very nice. And it’s such a small part of the meal it doesn’t matter. The remaining dishes are just wonderful. For 129 euros (very reasonable for a 7 course tasting menu) you will have caviar and foie gras, coupled with Japanese flavours like teriyaki and Japanese eggplant. Overall 10/10. I can see some dishes won’t appeal to everyone but you will have an amazing time here and the price is very reasonable. Will be back when I’m next in Paris!

This place has five stars because it’s the kind of restaurant you leave feeling as if you’ve made new friends to whom you are compelled to repay a kindness after they’ve opened their heart and culture to you. We attempted to make reservations the same day, so seating was limited to the bar - and what a fortunate blessing that was. Front of house co-owner and the chef’s son felt like our own host, in an intimate experience guiding us through the journey with descriptions and wine pairings. Our minds were blown at the consistently brilliant fusion between French and Japanese flavors at the first of seven courses of this omakase menu, but we began to document the experience about midway through with the chefs’ stunning signature dish. By the time we completed our meal, we were fully satiated, and yet sad to go with all the staff, patrons, and courses contributing to a memorable Parisian experience.

What a creative and inventive feast!!! My husband and I found this restaurant while on a stroll. We were struck by the absence of a menu! All you are given is the choice of a 3, 5, or 7 course meal which you can pair with wines if you want. There are also upgrades, such as wagyu or caviar options. Each dish is prepared with precision and beautifully presented. The staff is as lovely as the food! Highly recommended from 2 foodies.

This was an experience. Simple as that. Went there to celebrate my 40th birthday with my wife. Had high hopes due to the fantastic reviews and ratings. The food was very exotic and while all the dishes were good, some were better than others. Highlight was of course the Wagyu beef as the second main course (which was an upgrade) and the foie gras with the crunchy red onion and teriaky sauce. I can't really explain or express what exactly it was I was eating, but it was unique and my taste buds worked overtime that evening. I'm a pretty regular guy that is not used to going to such high class restaurants such as this so it was new to me being treated like royalty. I felt a bit uncomfortable at first, but the waiters were actually very nice and charming so I felt at ease after a while. I have a good appetite so for me the portions were too small and I was not full after the 8 courses, but this place is not about quantity, it's about quality.

We loved our dinner served by a friendly staff. The meal was very well prepared and presented. Very flavorful portions that were bursting with taste. I had the wine pairings and they were spot on. They did an extremely nice effort to accomodate our meal choices; my wife didnt want meat and they went above and beyond to make her very satisfied. When I looked online before booking here I couldnt find any that would do so. So huge thank you! I would definitely eat here again my next visit to Paris.

Found the restaurant through Google and saw the rating, so I was curious. Made reservations at 19:30. Unfortunately we were running late, so called the restaurant to postpone to 20:00. It wasn't a problem, which I appreciated. It's a beautiful, cozy restaurant. We had the Omakase dinner, which was very good from start to finish. My date had a meatfree menu and mine was including meat. Also asked for a little surprise when making reservations online, for the birthday of my date. When we received the first dessert with no surprise, I was under the impression they forgot about it and was disappointed. But after that, the second dessert came with the little candle, which surprised my date and we were happy about that. Great chef and great team, thank you for the great evening. (ps: Just a little tip, make sure you keep an eye on the refill of the glasses of water. We had to refill by ourselves a few times. Normally not an issue, but for this type of restaurant, it should be done by the staff. We had same kind of dinner experience 2 days before this dinner and they made sure the glasses were not empty. That service there was impeccable.)

From the outside, the restaurant is modernly decorated and well-situated in the heart of the 7e arrondissement. The dishes were finely crafted, thanks to Chef Yasuo Nanaumi, with a selection of beverages to pair with. We had a very good experience dining there.

Had a 5 course lunch here and it was an absolute delight- highly recommended! We have been to Michelin star restaurants in Paris (e.g., Le Cinq) and Tokyo (e.g,, Kikunoi) but never had a French-Japanese fusion course meal. In our opinions it’s of same caliber; we personally enjoyed it a bit more since it has a very nice blend of both cuisine types seamlessly. Will def come again for a 7 course meal next time during dinner to better experience the full culinary design. Service and environment are also very pleasing.

Akabeko offers a very appealing marriage of traditional French and Japanese cuisine. The menu sequence and individual dishes are composed in an extremely balanced way in terms of the combination of ingredients, the seasoning and the arrangement on the plate. Very friendly, precise and informative - perhaps even a little too much - service. Nice wine selection. We sat at the bar in the Parterre and were able to watch the kitchen team at work, which was fun, as the chef communicates with the guests subtly and attentively and with pleasant restraint.

YOU HAVE TO EAT HERE! We stumbled across a beautiful aesthetic “bar” that caught my daughters eye. Our last meal before leaving Europe and this was our best. We have eaten at several Michelin rated restaurants, and highly suggested from our concierge at top notch hotels, and this is our favorite! You will love it!
