Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We enjoyed a vegetarian brunch here. Le Continental had modest portions of very tasty Greek yoghurt, hazelnut granola and stewed spiced apple and rhubarb with a small croissant and a tiny orange juice. The oeuffs cocotte was more generous and also very tasty. Our “allonge” black coffees were also rather on the small side but delicious. The restaurant was very busy for the time of day.

Delicious. Hands down one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. Australian owned and run so not a traditional Parisian breakfast. We got the crab Benedict and the Scrambled Eggs Deux (basically an open face bacon and scrambled egg sandwich) with the most delicious tomatoes ever. Fresh squeezed orange juice topped it all off. Great service. Beautiful decor. And easy location in Montmartre next to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica making it a great place to go for a stroll after breakfast. Highly recommend and best breakfast in Paris.

This is a very busy cafe/restaurant. It has excellent reviews and a young clientele however it seems to have become too successful. The kitchen staff appear overloaded and the service can be slow. The waitresses are lovely and the food is excellent (if a little opulent!). It’s a great place but it may become a victim of its own success!!

The place is cool and the service is very good (especially our American young server lady) very kind and gave good advises.
This place serve what we call foodporn with beautiful portions having a lot of ingredients, fat and sugar ☺
Way too sweet for me (used to more like French style brunch and less sweet desserts).
I found the prices a bit high
It was slow to get the order and received the drinks many minutes after the dishes...
Note: I add the menu and the dishes we ordered to help you decide ☺

The place didn't accept reservations, so you have to wait in queue in order of arrival, which depending on the day/time can take quite long. I had to wait around 30 minutes to be seated.
In terms of food, the presentation was quite good, however the dish that I ordered (Burrata) lacked flavor. It seemed to me quite bland and uninspired. Maybe it was the wrong choice for me, but I certainly didn't enjoy it that much. The service/staff were okay (English was not a problem).
This place is certainly famous, but I'm not sure if I would return taking into account the waiting time and my disappointing experience with the food.
In terms of prices, it is not cheap. For a Burrata and a small lemonade, I paid 20€. Alright the portions are not small, it still felt a bit overpriced.

The restaurant serves coffee that tastes like a real coffee. they import the beans from Australia. the guys running it are from Melbourne and get food. that's not to say there are also so many great bistros and cafes in Paris. This one's is different. We'll go back after their summer break to try lots of different things on the menu. It all looked tempting and the combinations of flavours are more than tempting. The place was busy, but turn over of tables was well managed.

Visited after receiving a recommendation. Food was ok but coffee was great. However, sadly not great enough to inspire a return visit. Probably waited around half an hour to get a table on what was apparently a quiet day (mid-week) and the speed with which food/coffee was brought out was incredibly slow. Things did also get off to a shakey start when requesting a move to another free table which visibly didn't go down well with our server but this was somewhat recovered by warm and friendly service thereafter.

Looking for a proper breakfast in the beautiful Montmatre district of Paris? Most of the tourist cafe’s in this area will serve you a croissant and tiny coffee for an exorbitant price. Ask for anything more substantial and you get funny looks! Come to the Hardware Societe instead for a kicking choice of food and superb service. I had the Toulouse Sausage… with poached eggs, tomato, cheesy mash. Washed down with a decent sized black coffee. Thoroughly recommended… but… get there early. They open at 09:30

Located in the northern part of Paris. It’s quite a way to get to from the metro but it’s definitely worth the trip. Also be prepared for the queue (as a solo I waited 40 mins for a chair at the bar). However the food was definitely worth it - the entrance host was really friendly and accommodating, while keeping me up to date on timings. The waitress provided a good recommendation of the menu taking into account my allergies. The service was pretty swift, I didn’t have to wait too long for food or drink and lastly the food was delicious. The overall vibe is really nice (people found it hard to leave after finishing their food) Would definitely recommend! I had scrambled eggs and fried brioche (both customised to my allergies)

I've read and heard so many good things about this place and how it's one of the 'best' brunch places in Paris, which gave me high hopes but honestly I really have to disagree and I don't think it's worth it.
I came with my friend here at 1 pm and there were a bunch of people standing on the other side, which I didn't realize they were all queuing for eating here until later. We ended up having to queue for an hour and it was just ridiculous. Then the food itself wasn't even that good? I got an egg dish with bacon and bread and some fried hash brown ball thing. The bread was soooo hard that I couldn't even bite it off unless I put all my force on it, it was really bad. The rest of the food was just ok. I have to say it honestly didn't live up to the hype or my expectation at all.
I often find that when places are overhyped I always end up being disappointed somehow, and this is sadly one of those many cases. Probably not coming back.

Do yourself a favour and go for brunch here. After all the climbing, the baked eggs with vegetables, cheese and scallops was the best way to close the Montmartre chapter. Absolutely delicious dish! Another good reason to return to Paris! Coffee was also very good, the cheesecake was divine and the service was very loving and friendly.

As Melbournians living in London we were excited by the prospect of an Aussie brunch in Paris and this did not disappoint. We had the prawn benedict and pork belly and both dishes were phenomenal - fresh and full of flavour. The cafe itself is gorgeous and the coffee was outstanding. Please open a cafe in London!! We need your coffee (and brilliant customer service)!

We've previously being to Hardware Société in Melbourne (Australia), and have always enjoyed it, but strangely we weren’t aware they also had a cafe in Montmartre, until we arrived in France late last year.
As a non-dairy coffee drinker, we made our way specifically from Le Marais to Hardware Société in Montmartre (near the Sacré Cœur), for a good Aussie coffee (and lunch) and we weren't disappointed.
Absolutely fell in love with the cafe. The vibe, the style, cool music playing in the background, the friendly Australian waiter, and of course the coffee was awesome, along with a yummy lunch.
Whilst Hardware Société may not have had a wide selection of plant-based milk (when we had coffee there), they do however offer oat milk, as well as dairy milk.
For lunch, I had the fried brioche, with spiced orange segments and salted caramel sauce, and my husband has the pork belly with fried eggs and smashed herb potato salad. Both meals were delicious and very generous servings.
Hardware Société offers both alfresco dining (out the front of the cafe) and inside dining. The menu offers a good choice, and most staff are bi-lingual, which helps immensely when your grasp of the French language isn’t as good as what it should be!
If you’re not dining alfresco, take in the partial views of Paris from the rear of the restaurant, especially nice when it’s blistering hot outside, and embrace the cool breeze coming in from the open windows.
Highly recommend, Hardware Société!

The staff are the friendliest in Paris. All very welcoming! The food is fantastic, could not fault the food. The drinks are great also. However service from the kitchen was a little slow meaning we’d finished coffee and other drinks before the food arrived but the food worth the wait. My only reason rating 4 and not 5 star is due to the space. Everyone sits close to each other in Paris but here you could not use your cutlery without knocking the person next to you. Impossible to leave your seat to use the bathroom. But overall I would return

Walking into this cafe was a relaxing change compared to a lot of the restaurants and cafes we've been to in Paris. The staff was welcoming and friendly, and the view was gorgeous. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a snack or some coffee while in Montmarte.
