Stopped off here for a bite to eat on Saturday. lovely welcome from the staff and shown directly to a table. the place is a great looking place a modern building with plenty of design attempts to influnence your eye in to thinking its an older building. the menu does offer a a good range of foods at reasonable prices. the waitress was great took the order and returned with the drinks. 1st slight downside I only ever drink water with a meal and the water that came over was not great the tap had not been run so was a bit warm and had 2 ice cubes in a pint. I know its only water but i'm about to order food so a little bit of effort would have been nice. meals came out and where good food was cooked well and presented well. then 2nd downside they seemed to forget about us. we sat for 30 mins with our finished plates in front of us eventualy we had our plates taken and placed an order for coffee. which eventually came and was luke warm at best. with all that being said it was £25 for the 2 of us. so not the worst and it was busy so im hoping it was just bad luck for us. would i give it a second chance yes i probably will it was nice good food and atmosphere.

We used to love this place but after our visit tonight, it was quite disappointing! Portion sizes have got smaller and items missing from dishes. The lemon pepper tempura had no lemons and the pepper was in the mayo which I asked not to have. It was spread all over my plate when it used to be in a small pot, not great if you cant eat mayo! We then had cajun chicken crepes and a panko chicken burger, which was meant to have no mayo but arrived with mayo and the crepes had hardly any sauce and portions were tiny. It really wasnt worth the money even with this eat out help out offer. We were also served by 5 different members of staff, i dont see how this is following social distancing rules. It really has gone downhill!

They serve a good fixed menu (choice of dishes) for £16.50 for 2 courses, with additional £5 if you want 3 courses. The food was excellent, the service very attentive. I would really recommend this restaurant and our friends, from Irvine, who were with us, visiting the restaurant for the first time, have said they will be going back again as it was so good.

We booked our table for 6.30pm on Saturday evening to celebrate my daughter and husband's birthdays. Our order was taken and drink served quickly but it took a whole hour for the food to arrive. We were served at 7.30pm and expected to leave at 8pm. We had ordered deserts and were asked did we want to eat them outside as we had to be out the door for 8pm. They were offered in a box to take home but would still be charged the full eat-in price. It was cold outside and people who were outside wrapped in blankets, this is not my idea of a nice meal out. I felt sorry for the waitress as they were very clearly short staffed. I also felt the waiting staff were more focussed on the outside guests as they were having alcohol. Food was "average" and over priced. No compensation offered for poor service, we were literally eating our last mouthful of our main meal as we were having to leave. I feel 6.30pm is too late to take a last booking for guests to be able to finish their meal and sit comfortably before leaving. Also would like to point out that the restaurant are supplying the blankets for outside, just hope they are single use and not been used by others before or after you. We would be reluctant to return.

My partner and I booked the Michael buble tribute evening for around £22. We were given 3 courses from a set menu- all of which were completely tasteless. We didn’t realise the music was on after you had finished all your meals so had to wait around for that. The customer service was good- no complaints about that. When we looked online the ‘valentines 2020 set menu’ looked lovely- but it was not clear that booking the tribute meant you get a different, rubbish set menu. Would’ve just booked the normal downstairs service if we had known this. Looks nice outside& inside but due to the tasteless food we wouldn’t come back here.

Marie Rose Prawn Cocktail was excellent and enjoyable. Main of Fish and Chips terrible. Lovely large thick piece of fish totally destroyed by chef. Fish dry and had bones in it, the batter was hard and burnt on the underside, probably been put on a hot plate for too long. It was not chips but those cheap french fries. Cannot understand why restaurants cannot make proper chips instead of cheap frozen fries Asked for tartare sauce, after a long wait a dish of mayonnaise appeared.

I had booked lunch online and added in the additional information/special request box that it had been my husbands 40th birthday and our wedding anniversary during lockdown. Asked if they could do something for my husband once we arrived for our booking. They went above and beyond in order to make our lunch special starting with a warm welcome, the manager approached us and explained that they had seen my email and had made arrangements with the kitchen for some special touches to be added along with our meal. We had some apperisers and palette cleansers along with our startes and main course. Then to top it off a lovely platter of desserts. We couldn't have asked for more. Thank you.

One of us has a potentially fatal egg allergy so double checked some items marked as vegan. We were shocked to find out that there was actually very few egg free items that were clearly marked as vegan. How many people have took them at their word and unknowingly eaten eggs? Once challenged, they did go out of their way to fix it for us but I just checked online and the same menu is still advertised 3 days later.

The menu promises a good choice of gluten free however this is not accurate. They cook the gluten free products in the same oil as all other products. If they sorted that out,it would be a treasure on my door step. My daughter and husbands meals were tastey and plenty of it . The service was very good .

Was in for lunch with my mum. We had the Carvery for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. The helpings were more than generous, the food was cooked to perfection and the service was second to none. Priya was very helpful in explaining the menu and options we had. Very accommodating and efficient. Will definitely be back and it’s the best thing the Si has had. Would strongly recommend anyone to try this.

It proved difficult to find a wayside inn going from the Erskine bridge to Stranraer, but Si! did the job in spades. There was nearly a full house for lunch in this stylish restaurant on the outskirts of Irvine. We were promptly served drinks after our details were taken, and provided with an excellent toasted sandwich and prawn salad by the pleasant waitress. The background music was perhaps a little loud, but we spent a pleasant 45 minutes resting and dining before continuing our journey. Recommended.

This is our second time visiting Si! with an itison voucher and again we weren’t disappointed. Front of house staff very friendly and polite and gave us excellent service. The menu offered a great choice of starters and mains, I chose the haggis and black pudding pakora and hubby had the goats cheese , for mains I had the fillet of salmon which was delicious, hubby had the shin of beef which he said melted in his mouth. We finished off with coffee which we thoroughly enjoyed. I noticed they were doing a carvery , it looked awesome, when we return we will treat ourselves to that . The Restaurant itself is lovely and relaxed. . Be back soon

3 adults and 1 child. Mug of soup was tasty and thick but small (£4) 2 pancakes with toppings were very dry and again, a small portion (£8.50!) Sharing platter was nowhere near worth the money. £19 for 8 small tater tots, 2 skewers of chorizo and halloumi and 2 spoons of pulled pork on a lettuce leaf and some battered chicken. Platter was missing half the halloumi. The pulled pork was blended smooth, not pulled and everything was cold. £7 for a glass of red wine. Charged for an alcoholic version of the virgin Bloody Mary because they don't have a button for the virgin one (£8) Had to ask for our station to be cleaned when we arrived as the floor was covered in food. Also the waitress tried to clear the table while we were still eating which is annoying. Even after a discount the total was still nearly £50. Pros - The food was tasty and the setting is really nicely done.

Good Morning Dave, Thank you for taking time to provide some feedback on your recent visit - I am pleased to to hear your food was tasty and you enjoyed the setting and atmosphere! I do apologise for the floor being unswept upon arrival to your table - as you are aware, it was an extremely busy service and we didn't want you waiting at the door! I also would like to apologise for the mix up with pricing on the Virgin Bloody Mary but am pleased to see this was resolved at the time. With regards to pricing I believe our portions are great value for money. The pancakes highlighted in your feedback are from the kids menu - the £8.50 also includes unlimited soft drink refills which contributes towards the price. The sharer board (£18.50, not £19) is portioned and priced based on two starters . Our individual starters range from £5.65. - £10.50, per person the sharer is £9.25, which we believe is a fair price and value for money. A bill of £50 for 4 guests works out on average as £12.50 per guest for food and drink. In this climate, I believe this is fair. Once again thank you for the review - I do hope you return to The Potting Shed. Kind Regards, Jack

Just back from dinner here and very disappointed. Took 1h 40 min for two courses. Service was very disjointed. Food was average at best. Pizza had a soggy base and Pepsi tasted fake. Service was so slow we ended up just going to the bar to pay. Won’t be back.

This place is the Sam Smith of restaurants. It's not sure what it wants to be, the interior is very confused and this lends itself to the overall experience when dining here. The chairs for example look as if someone has bought all these random mishmash chairs which they've seen for sale on Facebook Marketplace, and then decided that they'll make them fit somehow. Sadly the opposite is true. Then there's the curtains which are an attempt at making the roof truss that you sit under, feel somehow more homely. All this does is accentuate the fact that you could be sitting in a roof truss manufacturers production facilities, whilst attempting to have something to eat, all the while looking at a pair of curtains reminiscent to what your gran, or auntie had in their living room, in the late 1970's. The food was nice, not spectacular with prices slightly above average for the area. The small plates are that, small. The only disappointment was the lack of smoked salmon in the salad, otherwise the food was enjoyable. The drinks menu needs work, the pricing is inconsistent, half pints of lager for 63% + the cost of a full pint, and £3.50 + for a soft drink is unnecessary, given the cost of living crisis that we are currently subject to. The best thing about the venue is the staff, whom are very attentive and friendly. Lots of room for improvement, maybe don't give the design brief to Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen the next time.
