This was a great place to stop after a morning of walking in the North of Skye. It is a 5 minute drive south of Uig. They offer takeaway or eat on the premises (which encompasses the garden tables as well as a small number of indoor tables. There is a limited amount on offer if you only want a light bite (as we did) but the toasties were served with a lovely salad and the coffees nice and large. Definitely a place to recommend.

After an ambitious road trip with 2 kids including a baby in the car we crossed Skye, unplanned and hungry. With all going on we knew we had to book ahead and likely we had left it too late. A few google searches later this cafe came up as close to the fairy glen walk which was our final aim of the day and when I rang they slotted us in with a lucky last available table. What an absolute gem. By the coast and with sunset views and fresh fish, kid friendly, great service despite clearly being busy. Tucked away and unusual in appearance it felt like a real experience as well as delicious food. Highly recommend it made our day.

We’d been keen to try The Galley after reviews locally and on TA. It was delicious, fish and chips were very fresh and our daughter loved the macaroni cheese. A couple also in dining were enjoying beautiful seafood that smelled amazing..Maybe I’ll try on our next visit! I think definitely recommend!

As soon as we walked in the waitress seemed angry before telling us it was takeaway only (fair enough) and then getting even more annoyed because we wanted to pay separate (I worked in hospitality for many years and understand this can be a hindrance but you never let the customer see that). We were then told to wait outside for the takeaway to be ready before being charged £7 for a few bits of steak on a tiny ciabatta… not very good and so over priced. Chips clearly frozen as well as vege burger. Don’t recommend. The food was then taken to us in yet another passive aggressive manner. Not a friendly or pleasant establishment. Avoid. Much nicer places.

We recently visited and had a takeaway as we were passing. I had the chicken fillet burger which was good, however the same can’t be said for the ‘jumbo hotdog’ which consisted of 2 tiny tinned hotdogs in a plain dry bun which was hardly filled, no offer of sauces for the hotdog and for the price we didn’t feel it offered valued for money. That being said, whilst waiting for our food, other customers food who were sitting in looked much better.

We arrived 15 mins before our reservation time and was greeted kindly by nice staff. The drinks arrived very quickly and so did our first course where I had the nice calamari strips with a ‘garlic Mayo’ which didn’t seem to have any garlic in. Then things started to change, our main course arrived I had ordered the beef burger with an extra burger and bacon and cheese. It arrived with an un-toasted bun which eventually became soggy due to the juices of the burger and the salsa like sauce on the bottom of the burger. The bacon had underdone white fat all over the edges which was highly unpleasant. The cheese was plastic which was very unexpected for a £11 burger. The coleslaw tasted off but the chips were very nicely cooked. The only reason this isn’t getting 1 or 2 starts is because of the nice starter and the great service by the nice ladies at the front of house who were always checking in to see how our meal was. I have always been scared to say that the food isn’t nice so I have decided to leave this review. Maybe would come back but definitely wouldn’t order the beef burger.

We popped in for a coffee but the delicious aromas coming from the kitchen convinced us that we were hungry. We both ordered the Angus kebab and wow! What a plate full of taste sensations we each got. And a bowl of crispy chips too !! The food was great, it was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. The Staff were friendly and helpful. Maintenance of covid cleaning etc was being followed with attractive screens separating the tables. We will be back to sample the haddock and calamari. Sorry I didn't take a photo to share.

We were staying nearby in Uig and had not yet managed to have any seafood whilst in Skye but had seen the menu for this place in the local shop. I'm very glad we booked because before we had finished our meal the place was full and people were being sent away, so make sure you call ahead! We had the seafood platter for 2 with lobster, which was fantastic value (£62 with lobster, I can't remember how much without but perhaps about £50) and an incredible amount of food - lobster, langoustines, scallops, mussels, calamari, crab, salmon, crayfish... . Everything was beautifully cooked and absolutely delicious. Definitely worth a stop off!

Take away menu & food were very disappointing. Fish batter was soggy, calamari strips and mac & cheese seemed to have been taken from the frozen food aisle. Shame as we’ve seen chefs taking in fresh langoustines but there were no dine-in seats available and unfortunately can’t order food from their specials as take-away. Staff felt unaccommodating, didn’t even offer the outdoor tables even if they weren’t reserved!

this is a small restaurant set back from the main road south out of Uig, up the slope. You can't book, but it seemed to have a good turnover, being an informal restaurant, for eat in and takeaway. The food was great value, and super fresh, the specials especially, We had a fantastic salmon three ways dish, steamed, cold smoked and hot smoked, with potatoes and salad. Fantastic scallops, lots of them, and a super fresh almost milky tasting haddock and chips. Well worth the drive.

So impressed. Amazing seafood at a very reasonable price. The squats and mussels were perfectly cooked with a lovely side salad and great bread. They were very busy last Friday when we visited but the staff could not have been better.... Helpful, friendly and professional. Can't wait to go back and I would highly recommend.

Gorgeous location. We had driven 11 hours prior to arriving at the Galley. We had booked a table and asked if we wanted to sit inside or out which was nice. We were hoping for lobster but unfortunately it wasn’t available. The menus were placed on the table. We ordered the smoked salmon salad and calamari. A few minutes later, a condiments tray was placed on our table with a ‘here you are’. Drinks the same way. The staff were semi-polite but not engaging almost robotic. Almost an air of ‘can’t be bothered about them’. When the food arrived it was absolutely ok. I have to say, smothering the salad in a mustard dressing was a big mistake. It wasn’t pleasant. The smoked salmon W was delightful and the skin on fries were nice. When we were asked if the meal was ok (nice touch) I said ‘it is ok thank you’. She clearly didn’t like this response as she went back to her pal and started talking about us. Sly glances in our direction gave that away. I was expecting more, perhaps that’s my fault but I wouldn’t return. A fair review in my opinion. Suggestions. Omit the mustard dressing and ask staff to be more polite/engaging.

We visited the Galley seafood cafe for a late lunch on a very cold (and snowy) day in late March. Fortunately we had booked as there was a constant stream of walk ins during our time. I literally could not fault a single thing about our meal. Every dish we tried showcased excellent fresh produce. Local scallops with black pudding, yum, steamed mussels, crab salad - my mum was in heaven. For me the langoustines were amongst the best I’ve ever had. My husband doesn’t enjoy shellfish but was perfectly happy with his haddock and chips and his mr whippy ice cream. Service was excellent. The staff were rushed off their feet trying to accommodate walk ins and explain covid restrictions but did so with a smile. Next time I’m in Skye I will most certainly return.

Located just outside Uig on the toad to Portree we had been recommended this stop for lunch and we were not disappointed. We booked ahead as there were 6 of us and it can be difficult to accommodate. This is a very popular stop for many and it was really busy during our visit, however they were able to accommodate most parties whether that be takeaway or sitting outside enjoying the view. We had a range of dishes including fish and chips, steak ciabatta and burgers. All meals were presented well and warm on arrival - decent choice for lunch stop. Only one toilet for all visitors.

Knowing how busy The Galley can be, as we were touring around the area, I called them shortly before opening time (midday) to check availablity. We were in luck and they squeezed us in. Of us three adults, one had the mussels, the second had the Kalamari strips, and the third had fish and chips. The two youngsters (fussy eaters) had the chicken nuggets. Everyone loved their respective meals. The mussels in the garlic sauce/soup were fantastic, the batter on the fish and chips was light and not at all soggy and the Kalamari strips were delicious and not in the least chewy. All in all a great experience.
