I was hoping not to have needed to write this review however after phoning last Saturday night 25th of September to report that my partner and I had taken unwell after eating here and was asked to email highlighting what had happened. I did this...with no response so phoned the restaurant another twice however the owner has still not acknowledged my email so I feel this review has to be done. My partner and I went for a late lunch both of us opting for the chowder soup and a prawn sandwich to share. After waiting some time out soup was brought out. I noticed straight away my plate had spilled soup all over it but these things do happen. My partner tasted his soup which was cold as was mine, we sent the soup back and said it was cold. The soup was brought back out this time hotter. I could not believe it when the same plate was returned with the spilled soup still on it. Really you could not have changed the plate. We ate our soup and sandwich and payed the bill. While out and about I started to feel a bit unwell stomach pains and my stomach was delicate I could not believe when my partner started complaint of feeling unwell. We returned to our flat in Broughty ferry. My partner ended up very unwell, terrible stomach cramps, running to the toilet and a very tender stomach. I was not as bad as my partner however felt a bit poorly. Our dinner plans for Saturday night had to be cancelled which was disappointing. I am very disappointed that no one has been in touch about my concerns it’s deeply worrying that customers contact you about this however you pay no attention to this matter. Your customer care has been non existent.More

It was a nice summer day and this looked like a nice place for a coffee and cake. Well the situation was good but that was about it. Our order was taken quickly enough but it took an age to arrive. The coffee had very...little flavour - it could have been made from a half teaspoonful of instant granules. The lemon meringue muffin and Fisher and Donaldson fudge donut were fine but they were bought in and require no effort. They also arrived and were consumed long before the coffee appeared. The lady at the table next to us was kept waiting even longer than us and when she asked where her order was, the waitress said "it was just coming" which of course it wasn't. No apologies were given and the woman who took payment was very abrupt. I appreciate they may be short staffed but there is no excuse for the attitude. And we expect coffee to taste like coffee.More

We had dinner here on the 10th September. Whilst the food and service were very good we felt that due to Covid 19 there were far too many people in the restaurant and tables were quite close together as well. The feeling was that income...over safey was the case. A bit of a shame as this should be and is obviously a popular eatery.More

Had really hoped to enjoy this restaurant but was very let down with the food. To start with we ordered the bread with 3 dips and found that one of the dips was actually cold butter (a bit odd). The scallop dish was borderline inedible,...scallops not cooked right and with a very strange green like jelly in the middle which was unpleasant.. Mains very average. Staff did there best but could do better on wearing masks. Prices pretty high and standards exceptionally low, a real shame.More

We had called in a couple of nights earlier to double-check our booking as it was made some time ago and it was confirmed. We shared a starter of Calamari, hubby had fish pie and I had monkfish, which came with asparagus, olive tapenade and...roasted figs - OMG it was delicious, we also shared a pudding of raspberry bread and butter pudding as well as sharing a bottle of red Chilean Merlot. Couldn't move afterwards but what a lovely meal! Wine not overpriced either - staff lovely, we had a bit of a chat after we had paid the bill with one of the main waiters who had served us, a lovely guy who had served in the Military, his attention and service were first class.More

Having read the mixed reviews, we were unsure if the poor feedback was a result of just bad night in these occasions. However, we also did not enjoy our visit and here’s why. At least 2 staff had their masks on their chin and didn’t...uphold any COVID safety measures with other divers wandering around with no masks on. So that was just the start of setting the scene. Our server was pleasant enough when we were seated so can’t really comment at that point. Then the food - oh dear. We’ve just spent a week eating at other seafood restaurants in Scotland and The Old Boatyard needs to pull its weight in the kitchen. The Lobster Bisque was nothing short of bizarre and tasted nothing like shellfish. In short, it was horrible. We mentioned this to the young girl who took it away and muttered something about feeding it back to the chef. The main courses arrived and one of the dishes was incorrect. We didn’t have time to wait for a replacement so just went with the flow. The Halibut was tiny and overcooked - not sure how fresh it was since there was no succulence that this fish normally has. Thoroughly dissatisfied, we politely told the server that things had been less than great and we expected to see this reflected on the bill. After a clear gesture of hesitation and slight unwillingness, I asked him to speak to the manager. In fairness, the manager did adjust the bill and personally came to our table but there was no front of house apology nor sincerity and we left feeling unhappy and quite irritated. We won’t be back and there are plenty of other great places to choose from.More

Food and service was fantastic, disappointing to see evening diners dressed so casually. Dress code didn’t match the high level of dining .

Visited here, not for the first time to celebrate my sister in laws 60th birthday... There were 25 of us so had booked ahead and were asked to order before the day. Fair enough.. Everyone had done this except my elderly in laws.. Usually when...they visit here my mum in law will order fish and chips and her granddaughter the kids pizza and they swap as a full portion of any of the dishes is too much, but on Saturday the fish and chips had already been ordered before the visit.. My mum in law asked if she could have a kids pizza... No came the reply you have to be under 12.. Can we order it and pay adult prices... No came the reply.. There's no pizzas on the full menu...grrrrrr so it was decided she would have soup... Soup came and there was no bread.. Asked for bread... Yea but you'll have to pay for it came the reply... Happy to pay but not happy to be spoken to like that...there was various other issues of attitude and service but considering our bill came to over £500 I think a lady in her 80's could have been served exactly what she wanted.. DISGUSTINGMore

Hi, Apologies for the late reply. I think they do, and they also have a lunchtime menu, snacks etc.
