After many years of visiting this restaurant and each time being amazed at the quality of the food , the service and just about everything - it is with great sadness that tonight is the last service. May we as with many others wish Luigi and Patricia a really happy retirement.
Looking towards the future we look forward to any new restaurant that the talented chef Genaro may be involved with - regardless of its location it will definitely be worth a visit

Delicious homemade food and warm and friendly service. Everything we ate tasted and looked amazing. Very reasonable price at £22 for 2 courses so treated ourselves to dessert too - all 4 of us had something different and each was as good as the other. Will definitely visit again.

This is an absolute gem of a restaurant that simply has the best food in Shrewsbury, the outstanding 6 course tasting menu was a foodies delight we added the wine flight and everything was superb.
The personal service is second to none with the owners explaining all the courses and how best to eat them. The whole team are a credit to the restaurant and
the atmosphere was fantastic, warm and welcoming.
We wish you all the very best on your retirement, after 26 years serving Shrewsbury you deserve it.

What a great restaurant! The family working hard in the place deserve credit for their dedication. Lovely place, set out well, warm, friendly hosts. And the food……wonderful! The taster menu is amazing, every dish is packed full of flavours, taste great, look great. Every dish is presented and explained as to what each piece of art is made of that you are just about to eat. From start to finish it’s a great experience. Compliments to the chef and the family.

Dined here for the first time and was absolutely blown away by the quality and presentation of the food. I had the vegetarian 4 course taster menu and was so impressed with the delicious flavour combinations. Each dish was fresh, colourful and beautifully balanced with real depth of flavour and presented with such finesse. The service was also superb - friendly throughout - right from the initial booking to the end of the night. Not only does this place offer incredibly presented food with interesting and creative flavours - it does so at an affordable price. Already planning my next visit!

Fabulous meal this evening, as always. Six course tasting menu was superb. Dishes were all presented beautifully, each one carefully thought out and presented. We also had the additional cheese course this time, a plate of beautiful Italian cheeses.
We are really going to miss this restaurant and seeing Patricia & Luigi’s smiling faces and lovely welcome. We wish you all the very best in your well deserved retirement.

We had the taster menu for a special birthday. All the courses were gorgeous but the fish, duck, chocolate dessert (and wine) were divine. The restaurant is run by a family who do their best to make sure you have the best experience. We loved it.

We had the 6 course tasting menu which included some canapés. Every course from the Snacks to the last dessert were simply phenomenal. The chef came out to introduce the dishes for us and the gent that managed the dining room was really friendly and was really knowledgeable around wines. All in all a beautiful family run restaurant in a great setting with top quality service and food to die for. 10000% recommend.

We have been living in Shropshire for over 11 years now, and have only just discovered La Dolce Vita. 11 years wasted on trying to find a suitable restaurant, when the best one has been staring at us every time we parked in the centre of Shrewsbury. The food there is simply the best in the area. We went there for my wife’s BD, for lunch, for which the set menu is £22 for two courses. We both had the octopus to start with, and it was delicious. Crisp on the outside, beautifully tender and tasty inside. It disappears in one’s mouth. The embellishments which come with it complement the octopus fantastically well, enhancing the flavour without overpowering it. I had the duck for my main course, which was wonderful, very tender and full of wonderful flavours. My wife had the rabbit, and having sampled it, I wished I had chosen the rabbit over the duck. Nothing wrong at all with the duck, but the rabbit was absolutely stunning. I cannot describe all the various flavours, the amazing pasta which comes with it, simply the best rabbit I have tasted anywhere, and we have been around a bit. I had the home made ice cream to finish with. One has to try this delicacy to appreciate just how awful all the commercial stuff is. What I really enjoyed was the texture. I could bite into it, it was almost chewy, and like everything else, full of flavour. If you have never been to La Dolce Vita, get on the phone now and a book a table. With 3 glasses of the House Wine and one coffee, the bill was £77.

La dolce vita serves outstanding food , we tried the six course taster menu and it was a triumph of authentic Italian cuisine . The ownership and staff really care about the presentation and explaining what you are eating , which gives you that top notch culinary experience . The ambience and decor match the service and high quality food served . The attention to detail and very high standard of food is a delight , particularly the beautiful colours and extraordinary taste , texture and complimentary wine list make la dolce vita a must visit place for ppl who appreciate high quality food and service when visiting Shrewsbury . Having eaten at some gold star rated restaurants in the Uk , la dolce vita is right up there with the best of the best , well worth the price also . La dolce vita truly is the ‘sweet life ‘ of foodies . A+ highly recommend.

We had the tasting menu with a wine flight. The food was shockingly good - every dish was beautifully presented and tasted divine. Each wine had been chosen in conjunction with Tanners wine experts to compliment the course perfectly.

We managed to get a sought after table on a Saturday night.
We received a very warm welcome, this is a small family run restaurant, Mom, Dad and Son, dad runs front of house, Son I think is the head chef with mom assisting and also serving the dishes, she is so friendly, as is everyone we met.
We had a 6 course tasting menu with 3 different snacks to start and we opted for an additional Italian cheese course and coffee and sweet treats.
The food was superb! Flavours were amazing, some of the courses, had they been on an a la carte menu I wouldn’t have chosen but so glad I was not making a choice, they were very tasty and looked beautiful on the plate.
Really sad to hear that Mom and Dad are retiring soon but I sincerely hope Son carries on as his standard of cooking I would not want to miss.

We were staying for a week 30 minutes from Shrewsbury. I tried booking this restaurant for my wife’s birthday through the web site only to find it was closed and the owners were holidaying in Italy. Patricia answered the email and couldn’t do enough for us to get us booked in once they got back later that week. Well what can I say about this amazing restaurant? The staff were incredible, friendly, polite and knew all about the food and drink that was on offer. Explained what each course of the 4 course taster menu was and the wine that came with it, but omg the food!!! The chefs are magicians with what they sent out to us, the magic that awoke our taste buds was amazing and sent them on a party of exploration into a foodie’s heaven. We have been into Michelin star restaurants in the past, but nothing has been able to compete with what we had served to us at la dolce vita. We are contemplating even travelling the 2.5 hours from home, staying overnight just to visit this amazing restaurant again. An incredible find , incredible staff and incredible food.

We had the most amazing meal, each course was beautifully presented, everything quite obviously made with love as well as expertise, so fresh tasting and with some very clever surprises along the way too-liquorice and ricotta ravioli, basil ice cream with the strawberry dessert to name only two!
This was our first visit and from minute one, we were made so welcome at a clearly passionate Italian family run restaurant. Despite the restaurants No 1 status, & excellent reviews,the degree of culinary excellence still took us a little by surprise to be honest, and quite clearly Gennaro is a greatly talented chef, (alongside his mother too I believe) and if we were local to Shrewsbury we’d love to be regulars!
The price point of the 6 course tasting menu was extremely fair too.
The whole experience will stay with us for a long time to come.
The restaurant’s location on the edge of a car park and exterior appearance isn’t a reflection of the joys within!
I sincerely wish the lovely Adaggio family at La Dolce Vita continued and further still success.
