First of all, if you're vegan and/or gluten free then you're in for a treat here, as you've got the whole menu to choose from! We called in for takeaways but there are nice seating areas inside (including upstairs) if you want to stay, and we found the staff friendly and helpful. The food was excellent in my view - everything seemed very fresh and tasty (lots of flavours) and generally poke at its best. They say you should 'eat the rainbow' for good health and this certainly ticked that box (the bowls were really attractively presented as well as being delicious). Admittely, some of the meat-replacement options are probably what might be regarded as 'ultra processed' - e.g. I had one with vegan 'chicken' (actually very nice) - but if you prefer to avoid those then there are more natural alternatives that are just as nice. We got the meal deals including drinks (various interesting options made using home-made cordials/syrups) and a home-made sesame biscuit (very moreish) and it seemed pretty good value. Overall, so nice that we made a return visit pretty soon after! Definitely somewhere we'd make a point of going to if we're in the area.

Oh my goodness, where do you start!!!???? Stopped here on way from Barmouth to Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands. Greeted at the door by 2 very polite and lovely ladies. That's where our wonderful experience started. Shown to a table upstairs, allowing for a nice balance to where everyone was seated allowing for a very relaxed chilled vibe. We had water served straight away along with a sample of their "beef " dish to nibble on (delicious!). We started with the "popcorn chicken " and plantain koftas. Wow, what flavours! Follow that up with shittake mushroom dish and teriyaki tofu poke bowls, wow! Dessert , we both had a bubble waffle with 3 scoops of ice cream in each of their 3 flavours. We are are not foodies by any means but we are both in our late 50's and have NEVER tasted a dish like that, I didnt want it to end! Accompanied our food with 2 of their fruit sodas!! Lovely and tasty and refreshing. We live 53 miles away and are desperate to find the next opportunity to return for more of their amazing food. Our waitress was polite, knowledgeable and attentive, without being overbearing. We came to pay the bill and she had the "cheek" to say a 10% gratuity had been added, but could be taken off if we wanted!!!!???? What a silly question, we have never been more pleased to pay a gratuity to such lovely amazing ladies. Thank you for our best ever meal and dining experience!!

Beautifully presented healthy, food, full of flavour and colour. Very accommodating to dietary requirements of one of our group staff patiently going through ingredients in the dishes and as a vegetarian loved having a whole menu to choose from. Very friendly attentive staff. We will return

We visited yesterday for lunch after just walking by and being drawn in by the colour full decor. Neither of us are vegans and it wasn’t until we sat down with menus that we realized it was a plant based restaurant. But what a lovely experience it was for us. The food was excellent - fresh, new, delicious and interesting flavors. Our host was most welcoming and informative to help us navigate through menu. Would highly recommend. Oh and amazing artwork through your the restaurant. Well done Kanu poke!!

I visited Kanu Poke with friends yesterday and cannot wait to go again. As someone who enjoys her meat, fish and dairy, I wasn't too sure what to expect but it had been highly recommended by a friend. The restaurant itself is unique, beautifully decorated and every single corner has been carefully thought out. It's a joy just to be inside a place with such colour and vibrancy. Hats off to the artist! Such a warm welcome from all the staff who genuinely seemed happy to be working there, and very passionate and knowledgeable about the food and drinks being served. Lots of specials available - half the ingredients which admittedly, in my ignorance, I'd never heard of but we gave some a go and they were divine, delicious, amazing!!! The Poké bowls are a perfect size, leaving you full but not bloated. I had the Ipu Hula Hula (I think that's what it was!), which again, was beautifully presented and was an absolute taste sensation. I think it's very easy to pass plant based food off as boring, predictedable and often tasteless, but done well and with the right combination of textures and flavours it's a game changer for me and will encourage me to be a bit more adventurous at home. Whether you're a carnivore, plant-based or anywhere in between you will enjoy the food here. The cocktails we had were also laaaaaverly and contained a decent amount of alcohol. Thanks Kanu Poké for a wonderful afternoon. We'll be seeing you again soon.

We came for lunch and ordered a poke bowl and the chicken and waffle dishes. The flavours were phenomenal and the chefs passion can be seen clearly through his food. The owner and chef as well as the staff were very friendly and there was beautiful, colourful interior decoration in the restaurant. This place is truly unique and wether you are vegan or not I would highly recommend eating at this restaurant.

Wow! Had dinner at Kanu Poke last night, I'd been wanting to try it for a while as reviews, photos and menu looked really interesting. I was definitely not disappointed, the decor, the staff, the atmosphere and of course the food were all absolutely spot on. Neither my GF or I are vegan or vegetarian but we like trying different foods. We ordered some of tapas dishes and a Poke bowl to share. All were fantastic. We also had a mocktail each which were also great. We were completely stuffed but when the waiter talked us through the homemade ice cream flavours we had to try them and oh my days they blew our minds. The flavours were so good, like nothing you have tasted before. I'm quite lucky about restaurants and food, I find a lot of places try hard and get it wrong or often food is pretty on the plate but massively lacking in flavour. There's a lot of restaurants in Shrewsbury offering streak, pizza, pasta, chicken etc. So e do it well, plenty do it very average. Kanu Poke is doing something completely different, something really interesting and exciting. Not only is the food beautifully bright, colourful and enjoyable but the restaurant itself is the same. The wall paintings, the hanging plants and even the music is all exciting and well matched to the innovative menu. Trust me, you need to try this place.

We recently chose this restaurant for a company event, and it exceeded all our expectations! George was an absolute gem, going above and beyond to accommodate our group. He even arranged a birthday cake for one of our employees on very short notice, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was nothing short of incredible—every dish was perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. On top of that, the venue itself was truly magical, providing the perfect ambiance for our celebration. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, whether you're planning an event or simply looking for an outstanding dining experience. Thank you so much to the entire team—everyone in our group had an amazing time!

What a wonderful welcoming place seeding delicious freshly prepared healthy food with a smile. Finding a plant based restaurant with such a delicious variety of dishes to choose from was fantastic. We had not visited Shrewsbury before and Kanu Poke had been recommended, as one of us has coeliac disease and most of us are vegetarians. We were not disappointed. Lots of lovely flavours and colours in our bowls. And an added bonus of not having to worry about whether there was gluten in our food. We all left well satisfied with our lunches.

I am not vegan, and was treated to a meal by my step-daughter who is vegan. Every started, main and dessert was beautiful, colourful and tasty. I can definitely recommend the Plaintain Koftas starter (I probably could have eaten a few more bowls, they were that delicious) The firecracker poke bowl had crispy tofu in it. I have never really liked tofu before. This tofu was amazing. It had a pleasant texture and a great taste The decor was colourful and cheery and the staff were polite. It was a lovely meal in a very miserable day and we enjoyed it a lot. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again.

What a fantastic find such a cheerful colourful quirky venue, the owner / chef was really friendly and informative and our waiter went out of his way to make our experience enjoyable and it was. We order sides, mains and desserts the food was delicious and all vegan and gluten free :) my daughter is gluten intolerant and it was so refreshing for her to have so much choice too. Would happily work our way around the menu. Liked the cosy lighting and vibe, would definitely recommend. Thank you Thomas you enhanced our night with your shining personality

Enjoyed a fantastic lunch in this colourful gem of a restaurant to celebrate a family birthday. The whole place is very artistically decorated in a Hawaiian theme and there was a great ambience, with a friendly waiter who couldn't do enough to ensure we had a good time. The food was beautifully flavoured and even my husband (normally a diehard meat eater) loved it, especially the crispy tofu satay. My fried mochiko with bubble waffle and miso caramel was amazing too. Also, as our daughter is highly allergic to nuts, it was great to know she could safely eat anything on the menu as everything is nut-free. We will definitely be back!

We took our daughter’s friend (who is vegan) along to this restaurant to help put a smile on his face. This meal did just that. Pure joy on the plate. For us three non vegans it was a revelation. Vegan food which tasted meaty - chicken, beef. We were given an appetiser which got our taste buds attention. We asked for a variety of dishes for the four of us to share, and the choose well for us. The turnip cake, which isn’t made of turnip was divine. Okra served with a garlic chilli dressing with a perfect amount of heat that allows enjoyment of every morsel. The crunchy red coleslaw, fluffy rice, roasted Chinese cabbage were just a few of the accompaniment to the mains. The flavours, textures and colours of every dish for a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. The staff we attentive, offering informed explanations of what each dish consisted of. Throughout the meal checking we were enjoying their food, and of course we were. There are also a variety of drinks which we have never heard of or tried, but we have now. And just when things couldn’t get any better the desserts arrived…my hubby said it was the best dessert he had ever had (waffles/ice cream/blood orange and figs), and we have had some desserts in our time!!! This meal was a highlight of our year so far and we will definitely be returning soon. So, don’t hesitate to let your feet do the walking and your taste buds do the enjoying and all for a reasonable price. ENJOY!!

I brought some friends/ colleagues here for lunch a little while ago and it was so delicious. The flavours are pretty unique and although I have tried to replicate their meals at home, I can't do it justice. I am a little obsessed with their BBQ Pipikaula. We have also brought our kids here and they love making up their own rice bowls with beans, mango, salad bits etc. The decorations are amazing too- a very nice vibe!
