Its beautiful restaurant offers an excellent range of modern dishes and good wines, its bar and conservatory offer convivial spaces to sit and chat with friends over a drink and we've retained the old core of the pub so that the locals can enjoy a pint of real ale or a local cider with a game of dominoes or darts. During the late days of summer its still warm enough to sit out in the garden and enjoy a sandwich with your drink and as the autumn nights draw in, there will be a cosy fire in the hearth. It has five delightful bedrooms named after Shropshire Hills and Woodland Areas of outstanding natural beauty, all tastefully decorated to very high standards with contemporary design and all equally equipped with private en-suite bathroom, Spa toiletries and crisp white linen. All rooms are non-smoking, centrally heated with tea and coffee making facilities, Freeview TV and free broadband. Last minute decision to see if Horseshoes could fit us in at 3pm on a Sunday, thank goodness they could. Having been walking in the Clun area for a couple of hours we really fancied a roast. We arrived and the car park was busy, which is always a good sign. Husband had beef I had turkey. Very nicely cooked and not too stingy with the veg. Home made puds (chefs cheesecake was amazing), couple of pints and soft drink came to £50, we couldn’t believe the excellent value for money. Service was excellent.

Whilst holidaying nearby we treated ourselves to a meal out at Horseshoes. It was the first restaurant we'd visited with our dog. On arrival Tanya warmly welcomed us and showed us to a cosy dining area where dogs are allowed. After we'd settled, Tanya took our order and recommended a wine to accompany our meal. The menu was varied and filled with delicious choices. The food was exceptional. We were made to feel welcome by both staff and fellow (local) diners. Thoroughly recommended for food and atmosphere. Thank you.

This is our 5th visit staying local. Peter and Tanya are superb hosts and their staff are impeccable. The food is local fresh and superb and the chef and kitchen staff are a credit to the location. 5* service from the moment you enter to until you leave. The locals are also so friendly and welcoming. A hard working family genuinely running an amazing business very well. Your excellent reviews are well deserved 👏 One of the best places we have visited in all Shropshire and will return again

Unimaginative, disappointing and expensive food coupled with poor service left us disappointed and rather upset. For the cost of this meal we could have enjoyed some proper fine dining, prepared by a chef, not a pub cook, and received attentive service. Every course I could have prepared better at home. My goats cheese was simply a chunk of cheese placed on top of a few leaves - where’s the chef’s creativity it that? My wife and I were massively disappointed in our main course, neither of which had anything more that could have been found in many pubs for half the price. Just to add one final disappointment, the wine was poor and, once again, expensive.

Stopped off at the horsehoes for a quick bite on our way home. we had- 1 x pint of larger 1/2 pint of larger 2 x bacon rolls with cheese (charge you more if its called brioche) 1 x small bowl of chips cost = £30.45 it did not dawn on me until i got home how expensive the snack had been. Never again.

Positives are pleasant surroundings, we ate in the restaurant, attentive staff. Nothing really wrong with the food but a feta salad with fish goujons had grated feta (?) which was pretty tasteless and 4 goujons- at £15.95 I think that’s a lot to pay for mid week pub grub and they were stingy on the ‘homemade tartare’. One of the party had chicken steak ‘Antoinette’ tasty but she felt a bit odd serving it with chips. Overall it was ok but won’t rush back.

This afternoon at the bar a belligerent, aggressive and bullish member of staff shouted at me "I don't give a f**k what you think". Why? Because I told him the bread pudding and the waffle were chewy and stodgy and not worth £7 each. I don't know and don't actually care who he was but I wonder who or what he thinks he is. Certainly not a good business man. If he's the manager then he should be ashamed of himself and if someone else is the manager then they should get rid of him - he's intimidating and a liability. But perhaps nobody else will give a f**k what I think! What a sad world it is sometimes.

First time here for us and the experience was perfect. Booked the day before to celebrate my daughter's birthday and we were not disappointed. From booking to dining, the whole experience was a pleasure. The menu is very extensive and the quality of our food was amazing. Everything we ordered was cooked and presented beautifully (even impressing 2 x teenagers!) Whilst we were catching up with our family, we were not rushed or pressured at any time. It's not often these days that you can say dining out is such a pleasure.Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

The staff of this establishment always greet new customers with a smile and a hello. This always gets things off to a good start. It has a friendly feel with a variety of seating options. Today though on a cold day in January the expected wood burner was not lit. Regrettably the americano was not great at £3:50 a cup the blend being rather bland and served not quite hot. It was served to our table with hot milk so good on that but as I say a disappointing cup of the beverage overall.

Excellent pub / restaurant with great service & atmosphere. We’ve eaten here multiple times in past 6 months & it’s been too drawer every time. Service is really good, food is excellent & if you have allergies they’re knowledgeable & cater for dairy / gluten well. Beer is very good too!

The food we had was ‘nice’ but not nice enough for the prices we paid, it’s pretty standard food I’ve paid less money for better food many other places. £7 for a slice of bread and some mushrooms, £8 for a slice of bread and a few prawns. Tried to charge me £2 for a sprinkle of cheese on my sons chips and it was literally a sprinkle but refused to pay that! £7 for a wine spritz and both came different sizes so not sure what size I paid for wasn’t a large!

Good morning, A little suggestion for you dear customer- Next time when you go for a meal in a restaurant somewhere else please instead of ordering white wine spritzer order the required wine size separate and the soda or lemonade separate so you know what size you are drinking!Your son got served an extra portion of cheese chips but you weren’t happy to pay £2 for a portion of cheese chips so we are always happy to do anything for our customers and the chips were taken of your bill! You are saying we are overpriced? I don’t think you had any resent visits to another restaurants where you get served fresh food cooked on order-maybe pub grub?! Best wishes to you all and Have a nice Christmas! Tanya

Delightful pub which doubles up as a small hotel with a comfy looking lounge. Very busy before Christmas when we visited friends in Shropshire. Staple pub restaurant food. Good fish pie and my fish & chips was very good...fish very fresh and well cooked.

We were stopping nearby , and visited The Horseshoes on 3 different occasions, and in each case our visit was faultless. The management and staff work hard to make sure each visitor is made to feel welcome. My wife needs a gluten and dairy free diet, but as everything is cooked to order, it did n`t present a problem. The menu is varied , the portions generous giving good value for money. Service was fast, friendly and efficient, the food was hot and tasty on every occasion . The pub itself is attractive , clean and the atmosphere warm and friendly, and has an obviously regular clientele. It`s a proper pub, not a chain. The beer is well kept, the toilets were clean, tidy and faultless. I wish it was my local. Congratulation to the management and staff.

Seven of us had a fantastic meal again at the horseshoes every time we go good quality freshly cooked food. Never have we had a poor meal always a very high standard, friendly staff nothing is to much trouble, ambience is perfect nice pleasant atmosphere would highly recommend wide variety of food. Perfect outside sitting and dining area for those who prefer alfresco, and interior to a high standard with tables to accommodate all size of groups or for those who are having a couples night out.

Reviewed before but not for a while and this place deserves more excellent reviews to outweigh the Curious and the Kevin reviews. I've been here a few times since my last review and friends and family in the area have also visited with glowing sentiments. Always a friendly welcome and always attentive but not fussy service. There's a wide choice on the menu and I've always been more than happy with my own choice. Must mention the Butty Bach, definitely in my top five ales. Lovely ambience, I shall hopefully return soon.
